The estimate was spot on and Don and his crew were punctual every day (it took 6 days with cure times). I consider it money well spent to have a properly functioning ensuite shower.
Description of Work: I needed a basement shower tile pan done properly that the previous owner had just used concrete with no water barrier and water was seeping into the walls.

Don Howard is an extremely proficient carpenter and craftsman based on years of experience and practice. He offered many suggestions and ideas and explained every detail of his plan. Tearing out tile and wallboard is a messy endeavor, but Mr. Howard was very respectful of my home, covering the furniture with large sheets of plastic and working in a cramped space with surprising control of dust. He coordinated well with the plumber and included two of his family members to assist, making for an efficient operation. At the start he carefully calculated distances and brought in all the supplies that fit perfectly. He selected and provided a grab bar, towel rack, soap dish/grab bar and toilet-paper holder that fit the decor perfectly, saving me hours of shopping for products I had no experience selecting. The bathroom renovation was completed without a snag in a week and is beautiful.
Description of Work: Don Howard of Howard Brothers' Interiors performed high-quality work in my master-bedroom small bathroom the week of January 11, 2016. He was recommended to my by Tony Brady of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing Services. The tile and floor of the shower were damaged and in need of complete renovation. Don removed the existing shower doors, the tile, cement pan and remaining wallboard in bathroom. He applied a mold product to eliminate mildew, replaced a section of subflooring, installed 1/2-inch denshield board and white 6x6-inch ceramic tile. He installed denshield around remaining walls of bath, taped, skim coated and painted. He reinstalled the glass shower doors. He removed and installed a new medicine cabinet. On the last day he remembered that I once had shown him missing grout in my main-floor entrance hall. Without my asking, he brought in a bag of the grey grout needed and asked his brother to quickly repair the hall. This eliminated my concerns and need to make this another day's project.

I especially appreciated the fact that Don gave me a lot of good suggestions and gave me options (I really was not sure exactly what I wanted -- just that I wanted to replace the tub with a shower.) And I was limited in what I could do because I have an extemely tiny bathroom. Don gave me the pros and cons of various choices -- for example, we can do X and it will let us finish the job in just a day or two, but it will up the price by $x. At one point, the white seat that I originally wanted inside the shower had been discontinued and I had to choose a different color. I chose caramel and Don suggested changing the grout to more of a brown color to go better with the seat and that turned out great! The project took a while (8 days) due mostly to the fact that they had to let each layer of concrete dry before moving on, with one more day delay caused by having to order a new seat color with matching grout. They did a great job and I am extremely happy with the final result!
Description of Work: Project was to replace an ancient cast iron bathtub with a shower. They removed old (heavy!) tub and window. Replaced window with glass block window. Did two layers of concrete on the floor with a rubber membrane between to insure waterproofness. Ceramic tile on walls and floor and bench seat in corner. (Price did not include plumber's part, which was done by someone else.)
