It was just a terrible experience, where our son used them this week. We had used them before and I was encouraging my son not to use them. We used to use them for a few years and it seemed like everything was okay, but now it was to move an electrical outlet 6 inches from the ceiling to the wall. We think he is trying to make-work for his son-in-law, but he charges $65 an hour and charges for his son-in-law being there. He charged us for 2 hours work. So we are paying for 4 hours to move a light 6 inches. The next thing is, my daughter-in-law was there and she said they were taking smoke breaks all the time. I saw on Angie's List after this, because I kept thinking I wonder what his reviews are like, and there were a couple that had huge problems with him. I think he was okay when he used to come alone, but he did some major work for my son a little while ago and it is still not working. So, I do not think the quality of his work is good. The main things to say are that he takes constant smoke breaks and he brings along an extra person who we think is related and we do not even know if he is licensed, it is his son-in-law, but it is like he is making a job for him. When our son called him, he said it would have taken twice as long, well there is no way an electrician spends 4 hours to move a light from the ceiling to the upper wall. Our grandson is there and he has got an ear infection right now and a respiratory thing going on, they smoked outside but their clothes reek on the smoke and our grandson was picking on it. Regarding responsiveness, they came out right away.
Description of Work: My son used RPM electric, Inc., to move a light from the ceiling to the upper wall.

Patrick Mulville and his son-in-law did not arrive until 8:30 a.m., and they both took smoke breaks every 20 minutes (this was never disclosed to us that they smoked, and both my wife and I are very allergic to tobacco smoke), and they left at 2:00 pm. The smoke caused my wife a severe sinus infection which required medical treatment for over three weeks. When this was stated to Patrick Mulville, Patrick Mulville used profanity in his response. Patrick Mulville kept insisting that the work was a two day job, and I never understood why, until RPM Electric came and we saw the brief hours that they worked and the number of smoking breaks that Patrick Mulville he took with his son-in-law. The price that RPM Electric charged was overpriced for the work performed, based on electricians, apx. 20% higher than other bids. We only went with him as a courtesy of a neighbor who recommended RPM Electric. In addition a general contractor used for another job stated that RPM Electric?s work was poor. Patrick used our Miele Earth vacuum cleaner, which we purchased brand new 14 months ago for a cost of over $1,000. This vacuum cleaner is a home use only vacuum cleaner, and it not an industrial vacuum cleaner. The Miele Earth vacuum cleaner is not designed for cleanup of sheetrock debris and dust, nor should it ever be used for anything other than normal household cleaning. Other contractors used have always brought their own shop-vac for clean-up, but RPM did not. When my wife stated to me that the Miele Earth vacuum cleaner did not work properly, the Miele dealer from where I purchased it from, which was out of state, suggested replacing the Hepa Air Cleaning Filter, which I then purchased and replaced. That did not solve the problem, so I contacted the Miele dealer again, and they told me to look at the head, wand, and bag within the Miele Earth vacuum cleaner, which had white dust from the sheetrock through the entire Mile Earth vacuum cleaner; in the wand near the electrical connections, caked in the vacuum power head, in the bad container box and throughout the Mile Earth vacuum cleaner. I then contacted Patrick Mullvile concerning it and Patrick Mulville stated that he would come Monday and take it to be cleaned. I stated that it would have to be taken to an authorized Miele dealer that performs authorized repair. During the conversation I misquoted to Patrick Mulville the price of the Miele Earth vacuum cleaner. I then contacted Miele to determine where the nearest local Mile authorized dealer that does repair, and it was located in St. Louis Park. I called the local Miele dealer and discussed it with them (Craig) and Craig stated that the Miele Earth vacuum cleaner is more than likely destroyed and that it would cost more to fully clean the Miele Earth vacuum cleaner and get it into operation again than to purchase a new one, if it could be made operational again. On Monday, May 6, 2013, Patrick Mulville called my wife, not me, about coming over to pick up the Miele Earth vacuum cleaner, and it appears that he expected me not to be home. I told Patrick Mullvile that he could follow me to the local Miele dealership, and then Patrick Mulville began insulting us, calling us names, swearing at us, and then drove off. I would NEVER recommend Patrick Mullville and RPM Electric for any electrical work. Their high price, poor work, smoking on the job and bringing smoke residue into the house, lack of professionalism, use of profanity and refusal to compensate for destroyed the home owner?s vacuum cleaner. BEWARE of RPM Electric!!!

Response from RPM ELECTRIC INC
(Member name removed) contacted me directly (Patrick Mulville), as he received a positive referral from his neighbor based on my good quality of work, timeliness, reasonable pricing and cleanliness. Based on our phone conversation, I provided Mr. (Member name removed) a free estimate for the services he had requested. He called me back several times to discuss at length the different items he wanted completed at his home. He chose RPM Electric to complete 2 of the 11 items that I provided him an estimate on. (Member name removed) knew the price for our services up front, therefore, if we were 20% higher in our quote and he was unhappy with this, I do not understand why he would have hired RPM Electric to complete the work. In addition, Mr. (Member name removed) had received multiple estimates from other electricians. We set up a time and date for my arrival; he called and cancelled the day before. We rescheduled several times in order to fit Mr. (Member name removed)’s schedule, which was a non issue for me. I had wanted to start at 8:00am on the day that I completed the work but Mr. (Member name removed) requested that we come at 8:30am, we were not late by any means, as I pride myself on my punctuality. My co-worker and I worked the full day and did smoke outside during our lunch break. When our work was complete, Mrs. (Member name removed) offered the vacuum for us to use to clean up. I own a Shop-Vac and use my own equipment while at customer’s homes, however, the vacuum was provided for us to use, as we were cleaning up our other materials. I did not know that this was an expensive vacuum or that it would break after my using it. I would have thought that Mrs. (Member name removed) would have known that this vacuum could break and that we should not use it as it was a very expensive and a relatively new vacuum. RPM Electric completed the work at the (Member name removed)’s home on March 8th. I did not hear from them again until 2 months later, stating that I had made his wife sick and that I had broken his vacuum. Mr. (Member name removed) began to call me incessantly and he was beligerant. I offered to bring the vacuum in to have it cleaned and fixed, even though it was 2 months after my completing the work at his home. When I went to pick up the vacuum at the (Member name removed)’s home, they became very upset and were yelling and berating me. I determined at that time that I was not going to subject myself to this behavior and left. RPM Electric provided excellent service to an unreasonable customer. I was referred to them from their neighbor for good reason. I provide high quality work at a reasonable price and pride myself in my cleanliness and professional work ethic. It is unfortunate that I was unable to assist the (Member name removed)’s in making this experience a positive one.

They did a great job. They were flexible on the times that they could come out, but I didn't always know ahead of time when they were coming.
Description of Work: I don't have the final bill yet, but they re-wired an entire house to get it up to code.

They were very punctual. I had a little incident where they accidentally scratched my desk. They immediately made reparations for it and I would use them again.
Description of Work: They did some electrical work. They ended up doing 4 overhead lights. They also rewired a stove burner.

PATRICK CAME OUT TO PUT LIGHTS UNDERNEATH THE CABINETS IN THE KITCHEN, WHICH HE CONNECTED FROM MY LAUNDRY ROOM. THE LIGHTS IN MY LAUNDRY ROOM HAVE BEEN BURNING OUT SINCE INSTALLATION, WHICH IS A SHORT. I'VE CALLED PATRICK AT LEAST 7 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS AND NOW THEY'RE NOT ANSWERING THEIR PHONE AFTER SAYING THEY'D BE OUT.
