+ -1 moreWhen I first called about broken AC, they were able to send out a service tech the same day. The problem was actually in our furnace. We had the choice of repairing it or getting a new furnace; we chose the latter since the furnace was 17 years old. Following the installation two days later, AC was working, but then ceased working again the next night (a Friday night). When I called them Monday morning, a service tech was again here the same day. There was a problem in the AC unit, which may or may not have been driven by initial furnace problem. Tech fixed it no charge; AC was back working. All four employees (techs and installers) were polite and careful about taking off their shoes in the house.

+ -1 moreEverything went very well. We called, they came the next day. My husband met with Pat primarily. It took quite a few hours of his time, in addition to the repair we had a setback thermostat put in and we had to replace the Aprilaire mechanism (unbeknownst to us it was not working). Pat was terrific to work with and took the time to educate us about several things (inner vent flap (?) we did not know existed, filters, etc) - it helped a great deal. My son and I have difficulties with allergies and it was a good night sleep. The heat is more consistent and AprilAire is working. Special thanks to Pat for a job very well done. Jo Ann and Rick

+ -1 moreThe installation team were prompt, and began the installation immediately. It was a team of two. They were polite and worked quickly. The installation was completed in the time estimated, and the workmen cleaned up after themselves, including hauling away the pieces of the furnace that were no longer needed. The air in the house began to cool immediately. All around an excellent experience.
Description of Work: My brother was looking for a company to install air conditioning in his 40+ year old house. We found reviews for Riccar's on Angie's List, and also had several good verbal recommendations from my brother's co-workers. I was staying with my brother, tending to my ill mother. I called the Company and they promptly scheduled a sales appointment. The salesman was out within one working day to evaluate the situation. He was extremely knowledgeable about the installation, showed me several options, and answered all my questions with ease.He left me with the quote for the job. My brother dropped by the office after looking at the materials, and then authorized the project. The installation was scheduled to be done. This was a very quick process. I called on Friday, the Salesman visited me on Monday, my brother authorized it on Tuesday, and the installation was scheduled for Thursday. My brother was told it would take approximately 4 hours for the installation.

+ -1 moreWe had planned on getting a few bids on this job but after meeting with the representative from Riccar, we looked no further! He explained everything very clearly, answered all of our questions, and helped us plan where to install the unit. The day of the actual installation went very well. The men covered our floors with drop cloths and worked very hard all day. They were friendly and professional and we absolutely love the unit they installed. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for any and all heating and air conditioning needs!

Everything is clean, professional in appearance and there was no need to call them back for anything. When I got the bill it was for exactly what the estimate was.

I am sure his bid was fair. I just didn't want to spend the money at that time. I might do the work sometime later this year. I will use him again in the future.

+ -1 moreThey were excellent! They didn't end up having to do any work, because they found out that the circuit breaker tripping had to do with the wrong type of circuit breaker. They felt bad having to charge me the $80.00 service call, so they gave me a ton of information on the furnace. They were tremendous! They stayed here probably 45 minutes giving me a one on one course on the use of my furnace. They were great about finding the problem, and then also giving me a ton of good information on how to operate the furnace and the systems. It is a pretty complicated house. I have a furnace, air exchanger, boiler, de-humidifer, and humidifier. It is a pretty complex system. Their prices were lower than the others. They were the original company that installed the heating system in 2005. Even though they didn't have to do anything, they were able to find the problem and answer all of my questions.
Description of Work: I used Riccar Heating & Cooling to do a furnace check because I had a circuit breaker that was tripping.

+ -1 moreThey chatted the whole time, soon they started chopping away at the concrete at the top of my foundation. This was where the new intake/exhaust tubing would go. They used a chisel and hammered away for 45 minutes. They knocked out some wood crosspieces that were between two joists; never told me they were going to do that and didn't replace them somewhere else, just left the bent nails still in the joists. The electrician came. I asked if he would show me how to use the new thermostat. He said he would leave the manual. I had to go to work before they finished. A permit wasn't pulled prior to installation, and a tube to the sump pump was installed without clamps which created a small puddle. Overall, they didn't leave me feeling confident that they were trying to do a good job, instead they were just doing another job. The clerk in the office was helpful getting me the Centerpoint rebate.
Description of Work: Installed 93.7% efficiency forced air furnace. I was expecting them around 8am. The first guy showed up at 9am. He was polite, took off his shoes and sized up the job. He went downstairs and started removing the existing furnace. The next guy arrived and things started deteriorating. He asked if I wanted him to remove his shoes. I didn't say anything, so he clomped downstairs to work with the other guy.

+ -1 moreI had an installation time from 8 to noon and was told the technician would call me a half an hour before he arrived. I was called a 8:30 and he arrived at 9 and installed the unit. He took his shoes off without even asking. The estimate I received was the price I paid at the end. Very satisfied.

+ -1 moreGreat! They inspected my current system and told me not to invest in a new system. They were quite honest, as I was ready to buy and furnace and A/C from them. When I inquired about the clean-air system, they explained that I could save money by installing it myself. I did so in an hour. It really does work. My wife suffers from all kinds of allergies, and she feels much better since it's been running.
