DJ’s Heating & AC

I had several warranty issues with an Empire furnace I bought from DJ's. I went through 3 different units that failed and the first unit was actually recalled. While still under warranty for the heat exchanger, the 2nd unit failed and we had to pay an additional $600 to upgrade to the next BTU size because no one had the smaller unit in stock and it was December, the beginning of winter in Wisconsin. This unit quit working due water leaking on the ignitor, after just 2 weeks. We ran it for a while with the front panel off so we could catch the leaking water plus we also had a hose going to a pail for the condensation water because they were out of humidifier trays which we also paid for. By now the worthless Empire furnace was discontinued and there is NO replacement from ANY manufacturer to go in the place and use the special venting of this "high-efficiency Empire" furnace. They left me without a furnace for nearly the Entire heating season and in August finally offered me half of what I had into the furnace but only if I completely destroyed the furnace, which would leave me with wood or space heaters to hear my home.

They have been 110% and have gone above and beyond. I would highly recommend them and I will use them again.

Fine. Technician was prompt, friendly, efficient and gave me good advice about future repairs and the possible need to replace the unit in the future (Fireplace unit is approx 20 years old)

Brendan, the installer came out and gave me a quote that was understandable and complete. He recommended certain systems based on my needs, and gave me his cell number for any further questions. The prices came below any others, and in come cases nearly 1/3 less. I talked to him later about how other options might help, and he was very helpful. During the installation they explained to me (and showed me) where the previous system failed, and how this would not happen with the new system and why. When finished the utility room was cleaner, and the heating was more organized than before. I would recommend DJ's to anyone.

Went great no problems

We had a very old, inefficient A/C unit that quit and a furnace that was soon to go so we replaced them both at the same time. DJ's was very easy to work with. The price was competitive, they arrived when they said they would, and installation went smoothly. One of the installers came by a few weeks later to inspect the work and make sure it was working properly. It has been almost a year and both units have been working just as expected (and through a VERY cold winter).

Very well. Worked with the Elk River store. Staff knew there stuff, we had a location in mind to place fireplace. This made for a difficult venting situation for direct vent type fireplace. Talked to installers and other staff and took there recommendations and purchased the Mantis, which vents with pvc, is more efficient and overall more expensive but I think very worth it and its where i want it. Install team was excellent, clean and I would highly recommend. Only issue was fireplace surround mixup which was resolved immediately, so immediately it was not really a problem at all. And it might have been our mistake to begin with.

Called them to repair our hot tub. Very unprofessional!! They supposedly finished the job but wanted me to call if there were issues. The tub still leaked just an hour after they left so I called to request them to come back. They told me that I would have to pay another fee for transport back to my home. They live 3 blocks away!! I then called and spoke to the owner, he was extremely rude and told me that if I could not afford to fix it I just shouldn't have it. I would strongly urge anyone to use another service provider. I called a different company located in Hopkins. They required a bit of an extra charge to come this distance but it was worth every penny!!! They were out to fix it in 2 days and had it completed in twenty minutes when it took DJ's almost 2 hours to do it incorrectly. DJ's also used a wrench to tighten plumbing joints which could have ruined my plumbing. They are only to be hand tightened. Do not use these guys for hot tub repair...they just don't have the skills or knowledge to do it correctly.

It only took 1 hour and 15 minutes!!

I didn't want to end up replacing the A/C system but the cooling wasn't cooling very well. After all it is 29 years old so I expected to hear nothing but that I probably needed to replace the whole system. One HVAC service company said it would begin at $800 (flat fee) and probably go up to $1,500 or even more.I called DJ's and explained the situation. After going over the problem on the phone, I looked at the symptoms Rick at DJ's described. He had Nancy call me back and she went over their service pricing. Standard minimum for one half hour and by the hour (but actually by the minute) after the first half hour which is what I wanted. Not a flat fee thank you. Coolant cost is by the pound or fraction of a pound. Exact pricing.Brian called the morning of the service to give me an approximate arrival and he was there on time. He went right to work and my concern of being ripped off evaporated. No fooling around, no stalling, just got right to work and got the job done keeping me informed of what he was doing all the way. He made out a detailed bill of what he did and the cost which was exactly what Nancy told me it would be. Honest, fast service. No surprises, nothing but good work at a fair price. DJ's will continue to get my call anytime I need furnace or A/C work. They have three locations but service most of the twin cities and all the west suburbs for sure.

DJS service our geo-thermal ground source heating. That source of heating is very expensive to service, and DJS offers us an ability to purchase rebuilt parts, and other ways to save money. We are very pleased with their service, and would highly recommend them.

They were to come out and install a new pump I had purchased for my hot tub. They came out and supposedly installed the pump, before they left they said if it leaks let us know. The pump did leak so I called to have them come back and fix it. They said they would not come out unless I paid a "transportation charge". I only live 4 blocks away. They also said it may cost much more due to the fact they may have to cut into the side of the hot tub to install the pump. At that point I chose to contact a different company, that company came out and installed the pump correctly in 20 minutes without having to cut into the side of the hot tub. I call DJ's and asked for a refund since the job was not done correctly. They said that the service was render and no refund was to be given. I asked to speak with the owner. I explained the situation and he told me that I was the one that chose to play contractor and buy the pump myself and then have a company install it, that I went the "cheap" route. He also told me that if I couldn't "afford" to have a hot tub and repair it correctly I just shouldn't have one and should "pack it up". He also told me that if I "understood customer service and had my own company" that I would "get it". The funny thing is that I do own my own company and it is in customer service. In my business, if my customer is not happy with my work, I make sure it is done to their satisfaction before I have them pay. That is the way customers deserve to be treated. I paid for a service that was not only performed incorrectly but they would not come and repair it without further charge. I felt they needed to give me some kind of a refund since I had paid them to do a job they didn't do. When i pressed this issue, the owner became condescending and rude. He said that he was no longer going to discuss this issue and "that was that". In my opinion, this company has service techs that do not have the knowledge to do the job correctly. After seeing a reputable company do the job right, it was proven that my thoughts were correct. The owner is difficult to deal with, and does not care whether the services they provide are done correctly. I would never use this company for any service they provide, and not only that, but because of the way I was treated, I will never shop at their store again either. They are 4 blocks away and the other nearest store that carries what they sell is 4miles away. I now drive the 4 miles because I will never support a company that does business like this, and treats their customers this way.

The lady asked for the make and model. I didn't have that information but told her that they had serviced it a few years ago. She said she would try to look up the information and get back to me. A few minutes later I found the information and called them back and provided it. She said they would get back to me.I am still waiting. The lady I spoke to was not very nice and acted like I was inconveniencing her. Never will I use them. I called a different company, they gave me a price within 3 days, came out and cleaned my fireplace as needed. Boy did they lose out on my business but the sad part is I don't think they really cared that they did.

There was some waiting for them to respond to us as far as letting us know when they would come out. We had to call them and keep checking and then it was another week until they came out. We had no heat but we do have a heating fireplace. In a perfect world they would run out to our house in a day and fix it for free but in the busy heating season we realize that can't always happen. Jeff was professional and went the extra mile for us,gave us a good price which we appreciate after being laid off twice in two years. We have had this system for 17 years and we know DJ's has good experience with it.

Service tech told tenant that the fireplace was installed incorrectly and that water had come down into the fireplace, damaging the fan and the log. DJs originally installed the unit. On February 22nd, DJs called me to get my credit card number. I asked about the fan and was told that it had probably been ordered. On March 7th, I spoke to DJs again and was told that they'd check on the fan order. I called again this morning (March 27) and had to leave a voice mail to have someone call me.
