I simply wanted to have my carpets cleaned, and called because First Choice was listed as a certified firm. I'm new to the area, and want to be sure to hire someone with decent references. It was simply too hard to work at getting an appointment..."ooh you live far away"..."we only get out to Ada once or twice a month" (which is okay by me) and "I'm not sure how fast you want the work done" (well, then ask and I'll tell you)..."we charge a minimum of $150" (which doesn't discourage me but I wonder why you assumed it would...I have a 4500 square foot house and expect to pay to have that amount of carpeting cleaned). I'd suggest before listing all the reasons why I don't want to hire you and assuming I won't wait, I won't pay and I'm too hard to work with: perhaps the more customer-oriented approach would be to first find out what I need and how soon I need it. I would've been okay with waiting 6 weeks for this work to be done, I'm not in a hurry and I just wanted somebody reputable. I'll look elsewhere.

On the first day taking possession of our new house, we had a severe storm that dropped 6 inches of rain on the area in about 8 hours. While I was away from the house, the power went out and our sump pump overflowed saturating the carpet in a 1,500 sq ft finished basement. First Choice responded within one hour of my call and were able to save the carpeting, baseboards and drywall. The only damage was a vinyl floor that had to be removed because water had gotten underneath and compromised the adhesive. The First Choice technicians were extremely professional and worked efficiently. They explained the processes and costs thoroughly before they began. They had the proper equipment to rapidly dry the carpeting and walls throughout the basement and prevent more extensive repair costs. They explained the dehumidification rates and air filtration monitoring to demonstrate the elimination of moisture from the carpet and walls, preventing the development of mold. Everyone I spoke with from First Choice was patient and courteous. The owner even stopped by on the first day to speak with me and see how everything was proceeding. While the cost may appear high, the insurance claims adjuster stated that they probably saved my insurance company about $10,000 in additional repair costs due to their expert service. I can't imagine a better company to turn to in a crisis.
Description of Work: Extracted water from carpeting; setup high velocity fans to dry carpeting, baseboards and drywall; dehumidification; HEPA air filtration; removal of damaged vinyl floor; and carpet cleaning. The entire process took approximately five days and after the initial water extraction on the first day, they monitored the drying rate through dehumidification readings and infrared monitoring of moisture in the baseboards and walls.
