Description of Work: Multiple appointments to meet with Mark at my home were missed. No call ahead nor after the appointed time, and no responses to my voice mail or text after the second appointment was missed. There were no messages on Angie's list other than my initial communication to the vendor via Angie's List. [Name Removed] responded to my contact concerning this matter.

Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal for a day (8 man hours) of handyman services for $299. They installed a bathroom exhaust fan and installed a ceiling pot rack for me, the quality of the installation was fine and the workers were polite and left the area very clean on each occasion. The reason I rated it lower on responsiveness and professionalism is that I had to contact the owner on several occasions and he seems to prefer email. However there were frequent miscommunications using this mode of communication. The first time I contacted Mr. Ellis he responded very quickly and we had a meeting about what I wanted done. There was a problem in my attic that delayed his crew from completing his install so it was months before I could contact him about installing the ceiling fan. I emailed and didn't hear back from him, and I was left thinking that they were not going to complete the job. I contacted him again by email and he indicated that he had been out of town and would call me the next day which he did not do. I contacted him again a month later and he emailed me back and sent out a crew the next morning but I never spoke with him on the phone to find out if this satisfies the end of the time on the big deal or not. I am just assuming so. Bottom line is that they did good quality work and were on time I just like better communication with the people I work with. If you are attached to your cell phone/email it might work out fine for you.

Description of Work: I called and he wanted me to e-mail my information. I sent my information, but After four days , I called again. He stated he had been sick for one week. So he schedule an appointment for the next day. No call, no show.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for six hours of wood rot restoration or repair. The service was great! He really came through for me.

Description of Work: Mark Ellis came out to my house to review the deck and basement projects I have and told me that he will get back to me with the quotes. But he did not call me back after a whole week went by. During this week, I talked to him once and he told me that he will email me the quotes next morning, but no email. Then I called him and left 2 voice messages, but no call back. I figure he must be overwhelmed by all the customers who purchased the $335 handyman for one day deal. I got a lot of small projects that can not wait any long. So I decide to find some contractors who are more responsive.

Description of Work: Mark Ellis Builders responded to a wide variety of citations by the City inspectors in a an 81 year old large medical fraternity (now called a medical society because it houses both men and women). It involved a leaky basement, walls with peeling paint that needed patching and repainting, fixing gutters and downspouts around the House, a variety of lighting improvements, refurbisinhg 8+ rooms a dining room and living room, and so on. The work began in October 2011 and was completed in August 2012. We satisfied the inspector's concerns, although we have continuing issues to attend to. The most important part of the experience was the ongoing discussion we had with the owner about what was essential in terms of safety and sustainability of the House in contrast to this issues that could be postponed until later.
