We thought everything was fine. The work was completed in November and we paid the bill immediatly and thought everything was good. Then on Jan 30th Doan Companies put a lien on our house. Later that same day a Proof of Service of Notice of Furnishing was delivered to our house. This was done after the lien was already placed on our home which I feel is unethical. We never even knew there was a problem until after the lien was placed. On Feb 4th we received a letter telling us about the lien. We were in shock as we had paid in full in November. When I found out I called the Doan Companies and was treated poorly, yelled at and hung up on. They told me it is a common practice. I don't understand why they would treat someone like that and I was shocked to find out that a company would do this to someone without even giving them the courtesy of a call or letter alerting them to a problem. As I stated we paid our bill in full and are being told that Doan is trying to bully the contractor who hired them into paying for more concrete than was used. It is easy to verify how mush concrete just by looking at the work. Now we have had to hire a laywer to help us get the lien removed. She has stated that they should have furnished us with the Proof of Service of Notice of Furnishing in advance of getting the lien not after.
Description of Work: We hired a contruction Comany Bliss Construction to finish off a pole barn. They hired another company Mata Brothers to put in a concrete floor and that comapny hired DOAN Companies to pour the concrete. I have been told that 9 yards were used but Doan billed for 15. The Mata Brothers who did the concrete framing and finishing refused to pay for more than was delivered. We did not hire either of these companies but the work was done at our house. We are only finding out about this now.
