Scholtens Electric

Called for an estimate on upgrading my electrical panel. The guy was late to the appointment, first bad sign. After going over what I wanted I asked how much insurance does the company carry, he didn't know. I asked a couple other basic questions and he had no clue. So he said he'd get back with me about the estimate but never did. I never got an estimate. They had my phone number and email. This was just a bad experience from start to finish. I would never call Scholten's again.

Called, got Jeff's voice mail. He called next day and set up an appointment. Ryan came over at the appointed time and we discussed what needed to be done. He left and I didn't hear back from him. After about 2 weeks I called and left a message on Jeff's voice mail. Ryan called me next day and said he misplaced the paperwork for my jobs. We discussed the jobs. That was about 3 days ago and I still haven't heard from Ryan. Now I'm looking for another electrician.

Called Scholtens Electric reached Jeff's voicemail. Left a detailed message of the work I needed done and why, but they must be tied up with storm damage in Kentwood. Still doesn't seem (my subjective opinion) reason not to at least return my call. I waited three days to write this review. I will also let the company that referred me to them know about what transpired. No call back tells me a great deal about a service company. If they are to busy just add the information to their voicemail recording.

Jeff was fairly quick to respond. He returned my call within the hour but was not able to meet me until the next day. While that was disappointing, it was fine. We met at 8 am the next day, a Friday. They don't work weekends so I had to wait until Monday for them to start the work which of course delayed the pipe fix and left no water. The renter was put out for a few days but luckily he didn't mind, the timing of the incident was just unfortunate. They rewired the kitchen and removed the old electrical in order to make room for the plumbers to start their work. They came back Thursday and finished up with the electrical box installation. I was a little disappointed that they left their drilling mess from the drywall on the counter but they may have assumed we were going to clean anyway since we would have to clean in order for the renter to move in so I wasn't too upset and wouldn't necessarily say they always leave a mess behind. Overall I was very happy with the results and pricing.

Ryan was 75 minutes late, I had to call Jeff (the owner) and then Ryan showed up. Ryan charged 3.5 hours for 1 hour and 25 minutes of work. Was not able to provide an estimate (only Jeff is able to do this). I was billed for the time to get the electrical supplies. When I got the invoice for $300+, I called and was credited 1 hour. Jeff was great at promising excellent service, but it was not delivered. The electrical work was well-done but Ryan was condescending initially and unhappy about having to pull wire through the crawl space.

They did a good job. They are right here where I live. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Work was done promptly within one week of my call, and we are satisfied with results.

THEY HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH REWIRING MY LIVING ROOM SO WE COULD PLACE A FAN ON THE CEILING AND A SWITCH NEAR THE DOOR TO TURN IT ON. THEIR PRICES WERE VERY REASONABLE AND I WOULD LOVE TO HIRE THEM AGAIN.
