It went very well. Despite some weather delays, not in Jack’s control, he and his team designed and built our dream home. Jack and his team are very professional, courteous, detailed, and strive for customer satisfaction. We have lived in our new home for a month now and couldn’t be happier. We would highly recommend Jack Duncan Palmer builders to perform home renovations or new construction to the greater Lansing area.

Exceeded our expectations!

The contractor was definitely professional. They were not welcome to ideas that we had, but more so from a professional's point of view was only trying to give you one dimensional knowledge of what they could do. That's not a bad thing b/c they are professionals.

We had a very good experience with them. We will definitely recommend them. If they're thinking of hiring them, go ahead, they are very professional and they did the job really well. I will definitely use them again.

Very well - excellent service Felt we may have been second in line for some of the project as it took 4 months to complete, although weather not great over the period. Design service excellent and cost was within our budget.

Overall, this was the only local builder who seemed to be interested in doing this job. However, once hired, the entire process was very professionally managed. The work was done as described and when promised. Overall quality very good. Highly recommended.

Estimate was about 20% below final cost because bid based on cheapest materials possible. Job was estimate to take 3 weeks, but took over 6 weeks. Job also started over a month late. Palmer had trouble remembering details becausehe did not write things down and orders were delayed as a consequence. Had trouble communicating via any means other than telephone or direct interaction. Subcontractors did good work, but work done by Palmer himself was not always done well (e.g., sloppy dry walling, painting, cutting pipe holes in cabinets, measurements). Had to redo some drywall patches and painting because not sanded properly, inadequate paint coverage, and sloppy edging. Bill contained errors that would not have been caught had I not insisted on itemization, which is not his preferred billing.

Our project went extremely well. We had a wonderful experience with Jack Palmer, our contractor, Mike, his right hand man, as well as the subcontractors that Jack employed for various specialties. Our project was rather complex and demanded an experienced and knowledgeable contractor. We were very pleased to work with Jack Palmer because of his high level of expertise. He is extremely patient and attentive and was able to make suggestions based on information we had shared about the needs of my mother and our family. He was also able to troubleshoot and offer alternatives when we ran into potential complications we wouldn't have foreseen without his involvement. Jack's team was very reliable. I felt comfortable with everyone who worked on the project. Mike, Jack's right hand man, is a gem, very experienced, multi-skilled, reliable and personable. We felt as if Jack and Mike became members of our family, although they did their best to be as unobtrusive as possible during the building process. They did everything possible to keep the project on schedule, including working outdoors in below zero weather, never letting the record-breaking winter weather interrupt the building progress. When the project was finished, within the estimated completion timeframe, I was glad to be done with the construction, but actually felt a little disappointed we wouldn't be seeing Jack and Mike every day! Mike's red truck used to pull up in front of the house before 8:00am every morning, like clockwork! We'll miss you Mike! We love my mother's new suite. Crown molding, rope LED lighting to highlight the vault, beautiful large triangular accent windows custom designed by Jack, lovely laminate floors match our existing home perfectly, travertine marble tile bathroom floor with special tile detailing in the large shower that Jack also recommended. Jack was extremely attentive to every detail and was able to match the look and feel of our existing home, including interior moldings, hardware, fixtures, roofing, siding, etc. There wasn't any detail I addressed that Jack overlooked or hadn't anticipated on his own. We are very happy with our new addition and would highly recommend using Jack Palmer for any building project. If we have any building needs in the future, I will most definitely call on Jack and his team to do the job. Thank you, Jack, for the wonderful work you completed for our family. You have made a very positive impact on our home and our family's lifestyle that we will enjoy for many many years. Jack was a professional through and through. He was always on time and prepared. We loved the time and attention he gave to our project. He had attention to detail, on little things that really matter when building a home, but that you may not have considered (ie., larger sliding doors, height of railing and of course cost/energy saving measures). We were able to see his current project and were very impressed with the quality product he was turning out. We are very sad that our plans fell through to build our dream home, but we know who we are going to call IF we can some day. Have no hesitations to call this man!

Jack came when he said was going to come, worked consistently. Jack brought appropriate tradesmen when needed. I had an extended trip on the middle of the project and he came back afterwards and completed all the details. He gave me an estimate and stuck to it.

It was fine, it was a reasonable quote. It was presented in a formal manner, on paper with signatures and not just a verbal quote and the estimate was pretty well itemized. It was so far, so good.

If we have a question or anything we will call him and he is a nice man and very honest. When Jack says something I believe him.

I pretty much said all I can say in the previous box. Working with Jack was a joy. Every idea he had delighted me. I'll end with this anecdote: on one of the last days he was in the house, tying up loose ends and making sure I was satisfied, he said to me: "I'm glad you're as excited about this space as I am." I laughed and replied, "Shouldn't I be saying that to you?" Jack made this project his own and in doing so fulfilled a life-long dream of mine to have a studio (not just a room) of my own. It is perfect.

He is easy to work with. He does what he says he will do. We were in a minor situation and he did work work for us because of that. The bay window was falling off of our house and he came and helped us rite away. His office was far away, but he still came out.

We got other estimates and we hired them. We selected them based on recommendations from Angie's List. They haven’t started work yet. They won't be starting it until September 22.

Excellently. The only delay was from the weather, we had a really wet spring in Michigan. But they worked though most of it. We are sitting in a room of the addition that "Jack Built". It is a beautiful space that far exceeds our expectations. The detail work is something to behold and we are sure we will enjoy it for many years. Following a bad storm thousands were without power, we were without power for nearly a week. Jack arrived with a electric generator so he and crew could continue to work. He discovered our basement flooded , he used the generator to plug in our sump pump to empty the water. He turned on the dehumidifier and two fans. His quick action saved us quite a bit including no obvious mold problems. We would very highly recommend Jack Duncan Palmer Builders.

It went great. There were a couple of delays, but there are always delays if you're building anything very complicated. Jack was very conscious that we were living in the house while it was being remodeled, and was very careful to minimize the disruption to our lives. We had a couple of unforeseen problems, but Jack is a great problem solver, and is very willing to change plans so that the customer gets the desired result.

Competent, Thorough, dependable, stayed within a great estimation.

The overall process of building our home went exceptionally well. We dealt with Mr. Palmer since 1995 when he put an addition on our old home. We were so satisfied with Mr. Palmer that we never looked at different builders when we decided to build. We presented Mr. Palmer with our ideas about what we thought we wanted in a home and he worked with us to developed our ideas into a beautiful home. He brought his expertise to the development of the land and lay-out. We found him to be a good steward of our financial resources, when we made decisions to make alternations to our original plan, he was most helpful to provide what we wanted. If the cost was going to put us over budget, he was always forthright in informing us and discussing other options. After our home was complete, any questions and concerns we had were addressed quickly, professionally, and without question. Even two years later, Mr. Palmer is more than helpful with any questions or concerns, as was evidenced recently when a faucet leaked. He quickly repaired it, without question. I have referred Mr. Palmer to anyone I know is looking for a builder. He builds high quality homes, with exceptional workmanship. His honesty and commitment to us has been more than we expected. He is rare in this area and I am more than happy to have had him as a builder. In the end, he has become more than a builder, but also a good friend. One of the most meaningful experiences I have had with Mr. Palmer was the day we walked the property and picked out the location of the house. Before he would break ground to put in the first stake marking the first corner, Mr. Palmer stopped, and lead us in a prayer to bless the land and the construction of our home. This gesture speaks volumes of Mr. Palmer's character.

Excellent work was performed, both men were on time, safety conscious,and reliable.Change orders were reasonable and fair. They took great care working inside our home. Easy and fun to work with.

They were responsive and prompt, on the site the morning after the storm with clean up restoration beginning the following day. They did most of the work but provided general contracting services and sub-contractor oversight for the electrical, plumbing, etc. They were efficient, kept us informed of decisions that we would need to make in the near future, recommended reliable sources for flooring and other materials and kept the project on schedule. They required sub-contractors to come back if the quality of the work was not exactly as it should have been. The job was completed within the time indicated, within budget and the craftmanship was excellent.

They are excellent. Their attention to detail and the ease of collaboration were outstanding. Their customer services was fantastic and they were very fair with keeping prices under control. We couldn't be happier with their work. I would highly recommend them.
