 + -1 moreHe was rock solid. This one wasn't bad, I think this one was $170. He is coming back out to do some specialized work. He's ordering some parts and doing some specialized work for about $700. It'll be a lot of work...extending it back actually on the house. He's an A all day. I thought his prices were really reasonable. He was prompt, clean, professional...real organized.
Description of Work: We did use a chimney service provider from Angie's List. It's Top Hat Chimney Sweep in Traverse City Michigan. It was just a basic cleaning and inspection.

Description of Work: This was our first experience with this service in our new home. Their service was a little more pricey than we had experienced in our prior home in NY. He arrived on time and seemed knowledgeable. He seemed to get the job done and left the area clean. I was not ready to give a top rating until we use him again.

 + 0 moreTim Burt confirmed the appointment, showed up on time, and inspected the chimney. Although I had expected that it would need to be cleaned, Tim told me that the chimney looked fine and that it did not need to be cleaned. He charged $35 for the visit, and that was that.

 + 0 moreI asked him to go on the roof to make sure the masonry was OK but he said it looked fine from the ground and did not go on the roof. I honestly thought that would be a part of the service, my roof is very easy to get up on and I would have preferred to have the masonry around the chimney inspected since I had recently purchased the house.
Description of Work: Came in and inspected the wood burning stove and determined it did not need to be cleaned. Gave advice to buy a temperature gauge for the stove pipe and reviewed safety for a wood burning wood stove.

Description of Work: Cleaned both of my chimneys. During his inspection he noticed that I had cracks between my chimney tiles in one of my flues and recommended a liner. Came back at a later date and installed the liner. Tim was professional, kept me well informed as to when he would be doing the work and left my home in great shape after doing the work. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

 + -1 moreOur chimney was very dense with creosote buildup and needed serious help. We had to have it done on a Saturday so the cost was slightly more than during the week. The chimney sweep came and got right to work. We had a creosote plug in the chimney and the stove needed cleaning as well. It took a while but the work was excellent and he told us what we needed to do to keep the stove and chimney in good shape. He was a bit grumpy when he first arrived due to our having to cancel the previous Saturday, but that had no effect on his work and he was very informative. As the day progressed his disposition improved tremendously. I would definitely call him again and highly recommend him. This guy knows his business.

 + -1 moreThe work went very well. He was a little late, but called in advance to let us know he was running behind. The job was done quickly, quietly and cleanly. He gave us a small discount since there was no travel time between jobs.
Description of Work: Cleaned chimneys at two residences. One fireplace was the principal heat source, the second only used occassionally. The second had a heat-o-lator which required cleaning the chimney from above.

Description of Work: I am estimating the date and cost since it was some time ago in 2011. He was quick and thorough as well as making a few suggestions about how I should help prevent unnecessary problems in the future. I don't believe my chimney wads that bad and he was in and out quickly but the performance of the fireplace over the winter was much better than last year (had a problem with smoke backing up into the house). So, I'm pleased and would use his services again. It's not cheap but what is? I would always trade good work for a little more cash. Not "break the bank" expensive but more than I thought a chimney sweep would cost.

 + -1 moreDon't have anything to compare to but he seemed knowledgable. Prompt. Cleaned up after work. I feel this is a tricky service as he did say we have had chimney fires in the past based on what he could see/detect when cleaning our chimney. We have not noticed anything like that and use our fireplace (wood burning) all the time in the winter. This is scary! Not sure about our next step with regards to repair as this person just recommended that we and quot;keep an eye on itand quot; and get chimney serviced once a year.
Description of Work: Because of the winter weather all work was done inside. No debris/mess. Cleaned up great after work. used a vacuum and some brushes to work up our chimney to clean.
