They were fine. They showed up when they said they are going to. They act professionally. I was happy with the interaction. I was already using somebody and I just wanted to make sure that I was getting a good price. They were right at the ball part. They were better than I probably would have gone with them but I had a good experience with the other one.

Northwest Contracting were excellent. They were one of the lower price ones. They did excellent work. The price is very good. They were about $2,000 less than with few of the other ones.

We went out for several bids. The estimates were difficult to compare as you had to adjust for the quality of items quoted such as ice-proofing material and cost of plywood replacement. One bidder correctly estimated our top roof plywood would have to be replaced. It is a shallow roof 30 plus years old with poor ventilation. All bidders told us we would need added ventilation. One included a power fan. Dale Vigliarolo was the salesperson for Northwest who met with us and quoted the job. He is very personable. Some of the other bidders salespeople were quite pushy. Dale warned us we needed at least one side of the roof plywood replaced. He went through all the details of what they would do. In view of our susceptibility to ice dams we added premium ice proofing for ice prone areas. The original quote only included a note of the plywood sheet cost as the roofing crew made the final determination as to quantity needed. We received a phone call notice just before the roofing crew came. They actually came a day later because of rain. They seemed very competent and had obviously worked together for some time. They kept us informed of items they found as they went along. (e.g. We needed some broken wood roofing replaced.) They laid tarps down around the house before tearing off the shingles. They cleaned up well at the end of the job. The crew leader seemed to personally handle all the difficult bits and had several years of experience in the business. He was quite happy to explain the why's of what they were doing. I am retired and probably a contractors nightmare as I tend to be detail oriented. As far as I can see they did an excellent job. I did call after they finished the job as I felt one of the downspouts was not quite straight and they came within a day or two and fixed it. Dale came after the job with the final invoice and explained it in detail. He was very helpful throughout the process and even went with us around the neighborhood to help us choose the type and color for the roofing. Our roof was inspected by the local authority and the inspector did note that al the detail items that some contractors miss had been handled properly.
Description of Work: Replaced plywood on main roof, stripped old two layers of shingles and replaced with new. Added ventilation and did minor repairs

Dale had the courtesy to call and let us know he was delayed on keeping his appointment with us, which we appreciated. He called again to let us know when he was on his way. He did a thorough examination of our roof, and let us know exactly what we needed. He followed up with a signed written estimate quoting a reasonable price and terms. We ultimately chose another contracter who seemed equally competent and courteous. It was a difficult choice which we made simply on the basis of the estimate first in time. However we would not hesitate to contact Northwest as well for any future work, Even though we have no complaints with the contracter we used, we have no reason to believe that Northwest would have done any less a job.

We had a tree fall on our rear roof after a storm, and we needed only half the roof replaced. From the time we called for the estimate, until the job was complete, Dale and his company were true to their word. Dale showed up at the time that was promised for the estimate AND climbed the ladder and got on my roof. The 5 other companies that I got quotes from never set foot on the roof- just evaluated from the ground. Dale went above and beyond with trying to match up our shingles. When he did locate them, they were out of our budget. He not only suggested a worthy, budget friendly alternative, but brought samples of the shingle to us for our approval. The crew was professional, timely and considerate. Dale was on-site several times during the day. We chose to go with the venting options that Dale suggested, and we know that it will be a selling feature once we choose to sell our home. Dale also found errors with the original work, and repaired them. They weren't my cheapest estimate, but I feel that it was the most honest. I was confident that I wasn't going to be blindsided by any extra charges once the shingles were removed. In fact, we received credits!
Description of Work: Repairs to rear elevation roof only Remove existing 1 layer of shingles Our Debris trailers have tires and will not damage driveway. Inspect eaves and vaulted ceiling area to insure the insulation is not blocking airflow, install insulation baffles as needed to provide proper airflow. -FURNISH & INSTALL- Damage Heritage Rustic Slate 30yr shingles with Heritage ridge cap. Starter shingles to be installed at eaves, for proper seal of 1st shingle course. Style "D" aluminum drip edge on eaves & rakes. Ice and water shield underlayment 6' up on eaves, all around penetrations. #15 asphalt felt underlayment on balance on roof New soil pipe flashings with "Colormax" UV protective covers. Relocate 3 existing air vents to approx 2 ft from the eaves, they are currently too high and just venting the area behind the attic knee wall. These are needed for air intake. Type: Brown 750 bird proof vents. Install 3 additional vents at ridge, these are required for air exhaust. Type: Brown 750 bird proof vents Venting Options: Install DCI Smart vent to eave per manufactures' specifications to ridge, this will provide air exhaust. The lower 3 vents will be eliminated when using this option. Benjamin Opdyke Concealed Ridge Vent per manufacturers' specifications to ridge, this will provide air exhaust. when ridge venting is used all existing venting systems must be eliminated, this includes covering the Gable end vents from inside the attic. Venting improvements will be an additional $107.00 If you plan on staying in your home this would be the most efficient way to vent. New aluminum trim to entire fascia, the new trim will not allow water or ice penetration behind the siding as the existing may. Dale Vigliarolo came out and went over the estimate of services. Aside from being quite personable, he was very thorough in his description of the work that would be performed, including a repair to the upper story fascia that was sagging due to carpentry errors when the home was built 15 years ago. It was because of this detail, the description of the extra carpentry work to correct the sagging fascia, and the excellent recommendations from a few satisfied neighbors, that led us to select Northwest Contracting, Inc. for our roofing job. They did not disappoint. The roofing crew was very competent, polite, and punctual. The day they began they were at my home before 8 a.m. They had the job completed in 4.25 days, including working on Saturday. My landscaping was undamaged and all materials were cleaned up daily. The debris trailer was removed the same day the job was completed. The end result is a beautiful new roof with dimensional shingles and increased venting, an upright fascia that had been sagging, and clean gutters. Northwest Contracting, Inc. was not the least expensive quote we received for this job, but they were well worth the extra cost for the quality of work performed. Highly recommended.
