Like others who have filed reviews, I want to warn anyone thinking about this service, which is no longer the family business since it was bought out by Advanced Disposal 2 years ago (apprx). I used Monroe's for years and like them very much. From the beginning, Advanced Disposal has been absolutely lousy. It's very hard to reach anyone by telephone; when one does, it's not at all helpful and often the problem is not resolved. I called in about an error in billing and was told it would be corrected immediately; it wasn't ever, and I finally gave up and paid the erroneous fee. Their billing form is confusing and looks like a do it yourself web page from the early days of internet. Relatively speaking, they aren't all that cheap. The ratings are skewed, I'd like to note, by two higher grades from companies, not individuals; they are ratings for business services, not home services. The grades of D and F are accurate for home services.

Monroe's Rubbish is now Advanced Disposal. The service is extremely unreliable. Our scheduled pick-up day is Tuesday. Many weeks, they don't come until Wednesday, sometimes after dark. This week, there was no pick-up at all. I finally dragged the can back in around 9 PM. When they do pick-up, the trash can often isn't completely empty, and they often leave the lid off so the can fills with rain, Irritating! Getting ready to switch to another service.

Ever since Advance bought them out, the service has been atrocious. Three missed collections in the past 2 months, including carpet rolls that we were instructed to stack by the road. The carpet has been sitting by the road now for a week. When we call the customer service phone number, the people there are not able to do anything other than send an email to the dispatcher. The dispatcher does't return their emails, so we get no answer. Not even a guess as to when and if the carpet will be picked up. Emails??? Really?? We canceled this company and are now with Waste Management. Their service is very reliable and professional.

I'm changing companies after at least ten years with Monroe after very bad customer service. Yeah, they've missed pickups lately, but overall I've been happy with them, until today. This morning they threw my nearly brand new wheel barrow in the truck -- I SAW THEM DO IT AND SO DID MY NEIGHBOR. I called and the woman who answered called the truck and someone --either the men on the truck or the woman on the phone -- lied that it must have been picked up by scrapper. I heard the commotion when they went to compact in front of the next house and that steel wheelbarrow (with steel handles) was being crushed -- it sounded like the truck was being torn apart. I KNOW THEY KNEW WHAT THEY DID. Anyway several emails to Monroe later I haven't heard anything from them -- no email, phone call, apology, let alone the offer to do something nice (like discount my bill) for what they did. I thought working with a local company was the way to go. Now I want nothing to do with them. NO EXCUSE FOR LYING TO CUSTOMERS.

We get good service from them. They have good personal service for billing questions and their people have always been very polite.
