Atlas was supposed to come by to discuss an estimate for roofing and gutters. They responded to my email and called to schedule an appointment which was "sometime during the day either Tuesday or Wednesday". I was told they could not narrow that time down but would receive a phone call when they were on their way and the gentleman on the phone was very courteous and apologetic that he couldn't be more specific with a time. They never called OR showed up, despite our making sure someone was available to be home both days. I have not heard from anyone at Atlas Home Improvement since then.

I'm sorry we were never able to meet with this potential customer. I do show that we were contacted via Angies List for a possible quotation. With that being said we have several notes in our computer system and we were never able to set or confirm an actual appointment. When we do set an appointment we never give a "range", especially not over several days. That simply is not how we do business. Our computer system only allows us to block off set time slots (4 per day) and we schedule sales appointments at a specific time. So with respect, may I suggest that it is possible that you have us mixed up with another contractor. I understand how easy that can be when you are talking to multiple people - it is very easy to do. I wish this member the best with her remodeling project. Darian Bobby, Owner

The initial installation went very well. The installer was on time and very professional. When he finished we were very satisfied with the way it looked and everything functioned properly. A year an a half later we started noticing mold growing at the base of the walls and it appeared to be growing from the inside out. I cut out the pieces that had mold on them and water started running out from behind the panel. I dried it out with a fan and recaulked. A year later we started seeing the mold growing again from the inside out. Again I pulled out the affected caulk and water began coming out from behind the panel. I began to look at where it could be getting behind the panel and noticed the trim ring on the grab bar was caulked around the edges but not where it went around the bar. When I opened up the caulk around the bottom of the trim ring water started running out. The water had pooled in the trim ring and got behind the panel through the screws which were not caulked. I contacted Atlas and they told me that it would be $140 just to come out and look at it. I fixed that issue and since then we have had water leak out from under the shower door frame (door frame screws not caulked). I have also re caulked under the seat three times because it kept separating and water was running under the seat. There is mold under the seat and we are still having issues with the caulk at the base of the shower. Three years later we are going to have to tear out the entire shower enclosure and have it rebuilt because we are afraid there is mold growing behind the panels. It should be noted that Atlas only gives you a 1 year warranty on the caulk. Not long after Atlas did the shower we had them install a metal roof. They did a great job and we have had no issues with it.

Atlas Home Improvement, LLC thanks you for you high praise and high grades. Steaming off ice damns is a dangerous and unpleasant business for our men who must wear special clothing to protect them. They use a pressure washer that creates very hot water (steam) with 3600 psi to "burn" off the ice and ice dams. This is a unique service called ICEBUSTERS. A more permanent solution to significant ice build up is achieved through additional insulation and improving ventilation. Thank you for your business. Owner David Bobby

RE: Atlas Home Improvement 10824 Plaza Drive Whitmore Lake, MI 48189 734-449-9480 (Office) www.AtlasHomeImprovement.com Mr. David Bobby and the employees at Atlas Home Improvement were professional and responsible. They did a superb job on my home repairs in late 2011. The jobs were completed in a timely fashion and the work was perfect. In addition, they had flexible payment options. The Atlas team completed multiple projects for my home. That included removing two layers of old roofing materials. /They replaced asphalt shingles with new stone coated steel roofing that looks like shingles. It is beautiful. They installed new 6 inch TITAN gutters and downspouts along with Gutter Helmet to keep the leaves from building up in the gutters. Additionally, they enlarged the ventilation soffits to the attic and installed 10 inches of stabilized insulation above the 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs. Every project was beautifully executed. GUTTER HELMET and the new TITAN 6 inch gutters and downspouts have eliminated clogged gutters from the great quantity of trees and leaves in my yard. The roof looks like shingles, but in actuality, it is heavy duty metal. The stone coating on the roof also acts as a noise buffer from heavy storms as well as a shield from the rays of the sun. During the steamy weather we have had with temperatures reaching into the 90?s, I want to say that my energy costs for air conditioning have gone down. In addition, my winter heating costs have also been reduced considerably. I I attribute my energy savings to the fine work and the quality of Atlas Home Construction materials. The roof will probably last 50 or more years. With the cost of energy continuing to increase, the work completed by the Atlas team will continue to give me even greater energy savings. Not only do I enjoy the efficiency of the product, I enjoy its beauty every time I look at it. Was I happy with the workmanship and materials. Yes, Yes. Yes. Was the team professional and efficient? Yes. Yes. Yes. Did they clean up after themselves? Yes. Yes. Yes. Would I recommend them? Absolutely !!!

It went very well. They showed up on time and with all the materials to do the job. A crew of two started at 8:30 am. They neatly removed the old gutters and down spouts and cleaned the board behind them. By afternoon four more workers arrived. Although it was easy to tell who the leaders were all the workers were intelligent and eager to do a good job. They worked well together. The job was finished that day and the yard was cleaned up. Prior to talking to Atlas I talked to several other companies and looked at many other products for covering the gutters. The estimate from Atlas included more detail of the job to be done, which created a better understanding of what we could expect. It was a fairly large job and I was very concerned about how this job would go. We have all had projects that turned into disasters, but this was not one of them. The product is superior to the competitors and so are the installers. Mr. Bobby keeps his word.

We searched for a reliable roofing company and interviewed many potential roofers. We discovered Atlas and hired them in 2010 to replace our garage roof. We were so impressed with the professionalism, quality and customer service that we told our friends about them. When we needed to replace the roof on our house in 2013 we immediately called Darian Bobby and the folks at Atlas. Mr. Bobby came to our home and showed us the stone coated metal shingles. He explained the cost benefit of the stone coated metal shingles and contrasted them with asphalt shingles. Once again we were impressed with the professionalism and customer service of the Atlas crew and staff and would recommend them to anyone purchasing a roof or gutter system.

Very professional and prompt. I wish I had known about their system years ago. We would not have had to replace our 15 year old roof (a 30 year product) after hail damage. They know coming in that their price may not what people expect. But if you don't have to replace your roof again for the time you own your house, then you save a bundle. Our reason for not using them was time that we expect to have here. This will be the 3rd roof we have had installed in 40 years. I thank them for taking the time for an estimate, follow up and not being pushy.

Inititally meet with the salesman in February, gave him a deposit. No follow up, I called again and met with the salesman in, I believe it was April to OK the job for top of the line gutters and a heated gutter helmet. At that time I told that the crew leader would be in touch in the next two weeks to set a date for the job, no call. I contacted the salesman over the Memorial day and was told about delays from both weather and scheduling. I ended up calling the office asking about my install, I ended up talking to one of the owners. I was told at that time that they would be right on it and that communitcation would no longer be an issue. On the day of install, which I took off of work (having been told that I didn't need to be there), the crew began putting up the new gutter helmet on my old badly worn gutters. They took off my front gutter which had begun to fall off, and planned on replecing that with the same style that had been on the house. I specifically had ordered the upgraded gutters with the heat and helmet. At that point I had them stop. We looked over the job order wiich was a base as it could get. phone calls were made, it seems my job order was lost and the salesman had redone the order with very basic components at the same cost! Whoever the crew contacted approved that I was to get what I had paid for. That required a 2 hour delay because the crew had the wrong trailer for that job. The work has been perform and seems to be doing what was promised. I have since noticed an issue with one of the down spouts...I had been waiting for that follow up call to mention the issue. I guess I'll have to make another phone call!

I understand the reason for the grade given and well deserved. We had some issues with a former Salesman on this project - he did not report as a sale and held onto job instead of turning it in per policy. Much of these issues went on before Atlas knew about this project. As soon as we found out about this we got the customer installed as quickly as possible. No excuses, this was not our best project. My apologies to this customer as I believe this was our first Gutter Helmet grade lower than "A". Darian Bobby Owner

We just had a brand new shower put in our home. Dave, the man that installed it, was amazing. He knew more about the product than the salesman! I am disabled, and we did not want a shower door, because I would be unable to clean the rust. When he showed up, he told us about a door that does not hold rust, or lime. If we had known about this when we bought the shower, we would have bought it! The product is ok, but Dave was fantastic. When he left, our home was spotcless and clean. If you use this company, Dave is the one you want. 8/26/13 If you have work done get it in writing that rust will not stick to the product. Ours started to rust within 2-3 weeks. I am not happy with the product. The product did not do what it said it would.

We had a terrible experience with this company. The gentleman that came to our door, at 9 AM on a Saturday morning, introduced himself as the owner. He performed a walk-around of our house and spent 20-30 min. showing me what he thought was wrong and what he thought needed to be done - this much I appreciated. However, the bad experience began when he entered our house to take us through his "quote." Acting as a salesman, I feel that this man's actions are the paradigm example of what NOT to do. He had somewhat of a rude delivery to begin with, and he proceeded with a very arrogant tone. My wife and I have 2 cats, so I thought it would be respectful to ensure that he was not allergic, as many people are. He then proceeded to inform us that he was not allergic, but he "hated" cats. Fair enough, I thought, but as a salesman trying to earn business I figure this is not the best way to begin your pitch - making the owners feel somewhat uncomfortable in their own home. He then proceeded to open up his big box of gutters that we placed on our hardwood floor. As he moved from one sample to the next, he would simply toss the metal gutters onto our recently refinished hardwood floors. I was inclined to think that he dropped the first one by accident, but this inclination changed as he continued tossing his samples onto our floor. This shows much lack of respect in my opinion. As he moved through his presentation he presented us with a lot of questions about why we thought the features of the Gutter Helmet System made for an efficient rain collection system, and further more why we thought the other gutters weren't of the same quality. Several times throughout this process I felt as if I was in a classroom and I was being called on by a professor. One of the questions he presented us with is "Now, what happens to metal when it gets cold?" My wife and I both knew the answer to this question was that metal contracts when it gets cold and that it expands when it gets warm. However, I know several people who would not know the answer to a question like that. He then pointed to these little ribs on the gutter and asked us what we thought they were for. I immediately thought to myself "I don't know, buddy, you tell us. That's what you're here for isn't it?" Needless to say, this seems to be a somewhat counter-intuitive approach as to what I would think would be an appropriate sales technique. It seems as if this technique carries with it a high probability of potentially making some people feel inferior, or even plain stupid, if they do not know the answers to his question. I can honestly say that my wife and I quickly became annoyed by the constant questions he was firing at us regarding HIS product. This might not seem like that big of deal, but it gets better. Upon finishing his presentation, the man proceeded to give us a quote for our gutters / soffits. I told the man that I also wanted to replace the freeze board trim (or fascia as I've also heard it called), and to include that with my quote. He told me that replacing the freeze board would cost me between $10-12,000. That is just plain ridiculous as the two other quotes I received for my gutters included the freeze board in them and it did not cost anywhere near $10-12,000. The man insisted he was trying to save me money. I then told him that I did not want him to save me money, and I just wanted him to quote me for the products and services that I asked for. He did not do this, in fact he just about refused and insisted that we just paint our existing freeze board trim. I'm not sure why he would not give me a quote for this trim, but to say that he insulted my intelligence is an understatement. The pricing of his product is where it gets good. $7-8,000 is what he wanted for new gutters / soffits including his "Gutter Helmet" system. Unbeknownst to him my wife and I had gotten two other quotes for the same job one guy gave us a quote for $2,600 for regular gutters / soffits AND NEW FREEZE BOARD TRIM, but without any kind of leaf protection system. Another gentleman gave us a quote for $3,900 which included gutters / soffits / FREEZE BOARD TRIM and INCLUDING a very similar leaf protection system called Leaf Guard. Needless to say, Atlas' prices seemed somewhat ridiculous, and the fact that he would not quote me for the freeze board just made me want to ask him to leave because he was wasting our time. This gets us to the part of the presentation when he started asking us for money. He said that if we decided to go with Atlas gutters today then we would save money. Fair enough, but we told him we didn't want to and that we need to discuss it first. He then told us that we could opt to give him a 10% "good faith" deposit and that if we decided not to go with Atlas, he would return our money. I do not understand how anybody would expect a customer to just a hand over a check for $7-800 without any time to even discuss the issue privately. Therefore, we denied his "good faith" deposit option as well. He then began insinuating that he knew we were not interested in his product and that we were not going go with his company. Keep in mind, my wife and I hadn't even discussed our options at this point, so we didn't know what we wanted to do. But he then packed up his stuff and headed for the door. As he exited our house he left us with a very rude "Have a nice life!" Sorry about the long review, but the whole experience just blew our minds. We couldn't believe that a salesman, not to mention the OWNER, would act like this guy did. I cannot vouch for the quality of their work, but I can say that the sales approach of the OWNER is just awful. The man was at our house from 9-11:30 (2.5 HOURS!!!) and completely wasted our time, as he would not even quote us for the products that we asked for. Just ridiculous and mind boggling. I would NEVER recommend this company to anybody. STAY AWAY.

Response from Atlas Home Improvement
The salesman assigned to this lead states the following: Firstly and most importantly, the salesman maintains that he said he disliked cats – since he was asked about it – but that cats liked him. Member did not mention his concerns or desire for a quotation on replacement of the siding or trim during the outside “walk around” – which was the time and place to do so, not at the end of the presentation. The salesman maintains that this aluminum trim piece below the soffit area had no bearing on the customers main problems which was rotten fascia and gutters being pushed off the house due to heat loss in the attic and ice build-up in the gutters. The salesman attempted to address these issues of heat loss/lack of ventilation and insufficient insulation in the attic - which were the root causes of the problems being experienced on the house – but the homeowner seemed uninterested in these issues and declined a free attic inspection by the salesman. Member seemed preoccupied with siding trim esthetics instead of addressing the fact that his house was “rotting from the top down” as evidenced by loose and missing spikes and gutters ready to fall off the house. The Salesman is a Licensed Builder for 24 years and labored for 2.5 hours to share his knowledge and experience with the homeowners. He regrets that there was an obvious personality “conflict” and misunderstandings. Atlas Home Improvement would like the reader to know that it was presented with the 2012 Super Service Award by Angie’s List for outstanding customer service and continues to maintain the highest "A" rating by members who have used their services. Thank you for the positive review, we appreciate your business! I can understand why someone might feel our pricing was "inflated" as stated. This is because of the new payment options we are offering. We offer 48 months interest free (with equal payments) or a substantial discount to pay cash. Basically the difference in pricing between these options is the cost for us to offer the 48 month program from a third party bank. (Yes it does cost money to offer 48 interest free payments!) So we make exactly the same amount of money no matter which payment option our customer chooses. We are just trying to give people more options in how they pay for the service. We are currently offering interest free programs that are 12 months, 24 months, 36 months, 48 months, 60 months, 72 months and 84 months interest free. Darian Bobby Owner

With the exception of a snafu with the wholesaler (the shingles weren't a stock item) causing a two week delay, the job went well. They cleaned up after themselves, workers were friendly and respectful. They also worked in the safest manner possible--they used three rows of roof jacks and 2x10s. The neighbor's crew used one. (our roof is nearly a 45° angle and 20 feet off the ground.) They took longer than they anticipated but we've gotten several compliments on our roof since. They were also $1000 cheaper than the lowest price I could get out of Hanson's and a lot less sales pressure. Atlas is run by two brothers and I could get one on the phone anytime I needed to.

The product is impressive, and will probably outlast your grand-children, but it's expensive (~$1000 per "square" for the shingle-pattern, ~$1300 per "square" for shake-pattern; both are applied on top of your old shingles, i.e. without tear-off). The expert that came out to the house was courteous and honest; he told us our roof did not need replacment at this time. Despite the price, we will likely go with the Energy-Loc installed by Atlas within a couple years since we plan to stay in this house for the rest of our lives and like the idea of never having to replace the roof again.
Description of Work: Quote for Energy-Loc stone-coated steel roof. We purchased our home new and the current shingles are 14 years old. We don't have any issues with the roof, but we were interested to see how expensive steel roofs are. Understand, the Energy-Loc is not a standard steel roof as it is coated with stone - exactly like "asphalt" shingles, and therefore has the same look as asphalt shingles. We've found that we do not like the "shininess" of standard metal roofing.

They were wonderful in terms of not giving us more than we needed. We were going to use additional products in the gutters, because we had experienced ice dams above the porch. Atlas told us we didn't need the heated wires, we just needed insulation. Their quality of work was great, and we would use them again.
Description of Work: We used Atlas Home Improvement about 3 years ago. They installed gutters, and insulation.

All of the services were done well within the specified time frame. There were several questions or additional services, covered under the warranty, that were required after each job, and it was sometimes a little difficult to contact Matt, the work supervisor, to have these items completed. However, the overall experience has been positive, and we've had no problems with the quality of the work. Compared to some others, the price may have been a little bit higher.
Description of Work: We purchased three successive services from Atlas: gutters in 2009, roof in 2010, and heated Gutter Helmet in 2011.
