Every person we spoke to was professional and offered multiple options to meet our budget and provide the best overall solution for our home. All of their technicians were very knowledgeable. Installation was completed over two days as promised. They explained how to use each component and thoroughly cleaned up the area when the install was done. I would highly recommend Applegate.

They've been very good. They aren't cheap, but they did what they said they were going to do and they did it well. I use them every year. They installed our furnace originally and our A/C system. Every year we pay an amount to cover them coming out to do an inspection before the heating season and before the cooling season. It's a yearly thing and then if you have anything special to do, we pay for the materials if it's not under warranty but they don't charge for the visit. I don't mind paying more than the lowest, so I'm still saying they're probably an A, but I could have gotten it cheaper other places. I won't really give them a B because I think the other places wouldn't do as good a job. I felt like I got what I paid for. I've never had any problem with them at all. One time a thermostat didn't work, they came out and fixed it right away. They've always been very responsive. Always been on time and usually would call us before they came. They are very professional and I'm planning to use them again.

I have used them for years. They were great on the maintenance thing. I have been using them for 22 years. I was going to use them for the furnace and they dropped the ball on responsiveness. I went somewhere else. They wouldn't come out for the furnace sale. They have a couple of service plans. The price included service on 2 furnaces and 2 air conditioners. They check them at the seasonal times. I got the plan where I get the discount on the parts. I will continue to use them.

Can't say enough good things about Apple Home Comfort! When Kyle did the estimate he took his time and explained exactly what needed to be done and why. He also gave me ideas of what I could do in the future to warm up my home. The crew of four men took two days to complete the work. They informed me of changes they needed to make to improve the results. They went to great lengths to minimize any wall patch work I would need to do after they drilled holes to blow in insulation. As a result, I have not had any ice dam issues since the work was done. I will definitely use them when I decided to improve the insulation in the rest of my home.
Description of Work: Added blown in cellulose insulation into my second floor bedroom/attic, kitchen soffit and added gable vents. They successfully created warm and cold spaces in my second floor bedroom/attic to alleviate my chronic ice dam problem.

The Applegate estimator who came out certainly seemed to know about furnaces. No problem there. What I disliked was the following: 1) while he did explain the different types of furnaces we could purchase, to me he seemed to "push me" toward the most expensive one. 2) The total price he quoted included a service contract. I was a bit surprised by that because usually a service contract is an option. But when I said, "Oh, the service contract is included in the price?" he answered "Yes." However, after he left and I looked at the estimate more carefully, I saw that the service contract was indeed listed as one of the options, and he had checked it off without even asking me if I wanted it. 3) When he asked me if I wanted to place an order, I told him I had another estimator coming that afternoon and wanted to wait until after that to decide. He asked what company the estimator worked for, and when I told him, he tried to disparage the type of furnace that company sold by saying, "Oh, they [the furnace manufacturer] buy everything from overseas." After he left, I did some Internet research and found that the furnace company he criticized bought its manufacturing materials from both overseas and domestic sources--as did his very own company. (And as do most--all?-- furnace companies since we now live in an international economy.) I certainly don't want the man to lose his job because of my complaints. As I said, he seemed very knowledgeable. But I do think a less manipulative approach would serve him, Applegate, and the customer much better.

Our sales range from high end to basic models, we sell all of them! We do strongly believe, that a high efficient model gives you the best payback and best return on investment.A low end furnace will cost you more over the life (15-20 year average) of a furnace. When all the facts are looked at, a low end furnace is a bad investment and we try our best to give people those facts. Maintenance is included in every furnace, you can choose from 1 to 5 years .Sorry we confused you and we would welcome the chance to do business with you, I'm sure you would be 100% satisfied!

This company was excellent from quoting to installation and clean up. Top quality service. We have noticed an immediate improvement in the warmth of our home and of its ability to hold a constant temperature. Drafts are diminished. The wall insulation has made our home very quiet. Hear very little noise from out of doors. The installation crew was polite, thorough, communicative and prompt. The job went well. There were some areas that were inaccessible due to construction constraints but the cost was reduced accordingly.

They were absolutely amazing! The entire process was seamless and stress free. They ran into a few problems with the amount of space they had to work in because of my finished basement, but took time and figure everything out. What really impressed me were the two who did the install. They were looking out for the longevity of the furnace I purchased and wanted to make sure everything was done right the first time. I could see a HVAC company seeing the situation and just installing the new one and leaving. They took two days to install ( because they wanted to make things right ) and I couldn't be happier!

Everything went very smoothly. They showed up when they said they would. The job took a day and a half. Everything was explained and all my questions answered to my satisfaction. They cleaned up after themselves and were generally very courteous and professional. The price was right inline with other estimates and I recieved a bonus coupon discount from Angies List to sweeten the deal. Overall a very satisfying transaction. I feel like I got a fair deal with no compromises on my part. They had done insulation work for me in the past so I was confident this would be the result. Give them an A+.

LAST fall: I had Applegate come out because I had 5 recessed lights that always had snow melt spots over them. They told me that they would place covers over these to further insulate them and that the covers were not available when I had the work originally done many years ago . They came out and did the work late fall: I paid the $800. As winter came I still had a ?snow melt spot"on the roof over one of the lights. After I s/w then several times, they said that this light was too close to the edge of the roof line to accomadate the cover IE they hadnt done it on this light, there was no mention at the time BTW. After several calls, I called the owner to get them out. Everyone was nice. They came out pulled the light fixture and said there was enough insulation over it because they could feel it from below. They never went up into the attic?the melt spot continued. I wrote them an email and I got a call back left on my machine and no call back after that. So, now?Ive just given up. Everyone was really nice to talk to but I dont need friends?I just needed this fixed correctly. NOTE: I have had Applegate install a new furnace and house airconditioner in the last 3 years and was VERY pleased with that?based on my insulaltion expericne, I dont think I?d return now. Thats the reason I gave them a C

We did try to communicate to you, that everything that could be done was done. The ice melt is due to LIMITED space between your ceiling and the roof. I was very pleased with my entire experience with Applegate Home Comfort. During the estimate Kyle pointed out both where insulation was good and where improvements could be made. Breaking down the estimate made it easier for us to determine just what we wanted done. Bob tried to schedule the work as soon as possible, and was able to do so. Mike and Greg arrived at our house right on time. They seemed to work efficiently and took care to keep our house clean during their work and cleaned up when their work was completed.

Showed up first thing in the morning in 3 trucks with 3 different experts. Electrician, plumber for 75+feet of gas line and generator expert. It took them from about 8:20am till about 5:00 to finish and clean up after themselves. Not a hard job but fuse box on one side of Ranch house and gas line 75 feet away on other side. They did a very professional job and when done spent all the time I needed to understand it plus that it worked correctly.

This company mis-represented themselves. The contract stated they were to replace the air baffles which allows for air to enter under the eves of the roof. They stated on the contract they would replace 12. The bad attitude worker who came in and only carried in 2 or 3. I thought he would pick up more later but he didn't. They added the insulation, and when they were done the baffles were not replaced. I called the sales rep who came over and stated that I had enough ventilation and showed me specs etc. But I paid to have them replaced. I went a step higher and talked to a vp who stopped by with a worker. He went up and did a few things while the vp stayed on the ladder. When they were done he had me look, and now I could see the vents were visible which they weren't before. But I'm fairly sure they just moved the insulation from the ones they said were too short and needed replacement. They weren't visible before, and it's a fairly good assumption that they're filled with insulation, and the air flow is blocked. This winter I looked up in the attic and the entire surface, top and sides were completely covered in frost. Now I can see drip marks running down the walls in numerous places, and a few circular water marks on the ceiling. I looked up in the attic on a sunny day, and you cannot see light coming from the baffles on all but one. Either they are filled with insulation or they didn't move the insulation away from the vents leading to the outdoor eves. Now I have to spend over a thousand dollars to have this repaired. Air flow is very important for the health of the attic. They completely blocked the air flow, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY LIE, MISREPRESENT......AND NOW I HEAR THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH FIREPROOFING CHEMICALS BEING TOXIC. THERE INSULATION IS SHREDDED NEWSPAPER TREATED WITH FIREPROOFING CHEMICALS. YOUR BETTER OFF JUST USING FIBERGLASS AND PAYING A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE. YOU'LL FEEL BETTER ABOUT IT. This is only my opinion...search for yourself.

We did the job two years ago and at that time installed 19 vents chutes (contract had 12) two different times we showed him the location of vent chutes. Customer chose (after 2 winters) not to call and have us look at the situation. We would have been glad to look at and help educate the homeowner on the situation. This is a very misinformed homeowner that we would welcome the chance to show him the facts on what was done and on the product used (cellulose). We have over fifty years in the insulation business, these are very easy issues to educate and show the customer the facts (not his opinions)

On Sunday, January 5th my family awakened to no heat. It was very cold and about to become much colder. They immediately called me. I am stranded in Florida having had 3 flights cancelled due to the severe weather. I called several heating companies to look at my furnace. The first could not get to the house because of the snow and the second said that he didn't carry parts for an Amana furnace. I then remembered that the previous owner had mentioned that Applegate had installed the furnace. Chris, from Applegate Home Comfort, was able to get to the house to check the furnace. He said that it needed a new motor. He said that he thought he could get to it on Monday and that it would cost about $400. No one showed up on Monday. I called Applegate. Chris apologized and told me that they didn't have the motor in stock and that it had been ordered. It would take 2-3 days and it was more expensive than he had thought at $450. I was very upset at the delay, as the temperatures were very low and would not be above zero for a couple more days. I had 11 people in my house including an infant and a toddler. My daughter's home had burned on Christmas Eve and they had taken shelter with us. The house was miserably cold and they didn't even have any extra clothes to pull on. My family struggled through days of sub-zero temperatures as they waited for Applegate to come and replace the motor. Yesterday, Wed. Jan. 8, I spoke with Jim at Applegate. He informed me that he had finally been able to locate a motor but unfortunately it would cost $850. As I worried about this contradiction with what I had been told by Chris, I also pondered whether it was wise to invest that much money (plus labor) into a furnace that was at least 18 years old. I decided to replace the furnace. I called Applegate this morning and had their salesman go to the house and then call me with his estimate. I liked the salesman, he seemed very knowledgeable, and the price seemed reasonable. I told him that I would also need to obtain a second estimate. I then spoke with a second heating company in regard to the purchase of a furnace. The owner was on a call at the time. He said that he could go over to look at the house in about an hour and that he would call me with his estimate. About 2 hours later he called me back saying that although he would love to sell me a new furnace, mine was not yet on its last legs and it could quickly and easily be repaired. He said that there was no need to order the motor as it was readily available locally at multiple outlets. He then picked up the part and repaired my furnace. In about an hour my family had heat and the charge was only $445. I believe that someone at Applegate chose to let my family suffer unnecessarily, for 3 days, in life-threatening cold. I find this act unconscionable. Lansing registered something like 21 degrees below zero on Tuesday morning and Wednesday the temperature never rose above zero. I don't believe that the motor had to be ordered. Maybe they couldn't get to me for 2-3 days, but in a case of such extreme cold, certainly I should have been told, so that I had the option of calling someone else. I also do not believe that the new motor cost $850. I believe that someone at Applegate was trying to get over on an out-of-town home owner. I have to question the ethics of this company. I trusted them. They let me down.
Description of Work: They sent a man out to check and possibly repair my furnace. The repairman, Chris, determined that the furnace needed a new motor. He did not have the part with him. As it was a Sunday evening, the furnace could not be repaired until the following day. No one showed up on Monday so I had to call them.

Record snow, record cold, loose of power for days.......we were closed (first time in 40 years) on the Monday you said we should of got back to your home. We could not get on any streets or even our own building! The motor needed was ordered on Tuesday 8th.This was the Amana authorized part, don't know what someone else chose to install. We only install what the manufacture recommends. Just like your lack of flights back to Lansing, no business in mid Michigan was able to preform during this record severe weather. I will refund your money for the service call done on Sunday (at the risk of our service man on terrible roads) Had you been here in Mid Michigan to see how bad the weather / roads were, you may have been more understanding.

It began as a very good experience at the price estimate. The price given was fair. The salesperson showed on time each time. The installation crew showed on time and worked on the installation throughout the day. I was satisfied with the quality of installation. However, somehow the unit was not working properly at the end of installation. A technician was scheduled next day and found out that the fuse in the unit was blown. I was not told why the fuse exactly went bad. Except for this glitch, it went pretty well. The units look pretty good, and the linehide and wiring were done profesionally and look very nice. The systems have passed the inspection and is working properly so far. We glad that we have made decision to install the unit on this room.
Description of Work: Installed a Fujitsu Mini split system on the room above garage, and lined high voltage wire in conduit from the basement. Installed linehide, outdoor unit leg and condensation pad.
