Not well. Bratcher installed a 20 kw whole home generator at my house in 2012. The first time we have a power outage the generator didn't work. This company is either not very good at what they do or they have no pride in their work. Their customer service is lacking. To go with the generator I wanted regular service as well. Getting them to come out and provide that service has been a nightmare. At times, with no notice they just stop coming. Lately it can take weeks to get an appointment. On the latest appointment I paid them several hundred dollars to find out why my generator was revving. They came and looked at the generator and told me nothing was wrong. Then, weeks later when the power went out, I found it was revving again. I question whether they did any work or review of the generator. I called them to complain. They are unable to send someone to review what I am told is an EXTREMELY serious problem for weeks. They didn't say, we can't help you. They said they would fit me in when they can. I am on their DO NOT ANSWER list. If I call with my regular phone number my call goes straight to voicemail. If I call from another phone they pick it up right away. That is their customer service. Poor technical work. Followed up by stone walling and avoidance.

How did it go ? Well it didn’t Go At all ... had the owner Mike come out and take pics of everything (furnace AC unit and gas meter and fuse box for installation of a brand new standby Generator ) and was told he would have something worked up in a few weeks , we’ll a few weeks came and gone and still nothing I’ve documented everything as always do , I have a ton of Work going on at my home , wood floors , new gutters and shutters ) bay window and main floor windows , new drive way counter tops ect ect .... there’s a few things I am missing but you get the gist ! So I keep notes on apts. and bids and what’s done and what’s not .....When I first spoke with Mike I told him I was referred to him by my sister who also had a standby generator installed at her place in early spring about five years ago when summer came around she turned on her AC and one of them early summer showers roll through knocked out the power when her generator came on her lights came on her refrigerator came on her garage door Opener even worked but she couldn’t figure out why her AC was not working I don’t know exactly what went on but I know she was very displeased about the incompetence of the person installing it, isn’t that the whole point of having one installed so you’re not lacking any luxuries??I’m not exactly sure how they fixed the issue but I. The end after a lot of stress and a lot of waiting it ultimately got finished, Now in my situation my furnace is 21 years old and I’ve been throwing parts at it for the last three years I’m trying to avoid that this year by having a new one installed and I stressed to him on my initial call that I need this furnace as soon as you’re available ! Mine was there within 3 days of the 1st of many calls and as I stated took pics .... after the two weeks I never heard from him he became a ghost...... oh I spoke with him a few times but every time it was I don’t have the estimate with me you’ll have to call in the morning.....I call in the morning ......... hey do you have that estimate Mike oh I’m sorry Patrick I’m with my man right now can I call you back in a few minutes? Sure ! No call ! I called the office spoke with Karen yes I’ll have him call you directly!! No call again ... I’ve left at least four or five voicemails and my last one was on his personal cell and on the office machine .... I simply stated a listen if you’re not interested in doing this just please let me know that would be the right thing to do but if you’re backed up and you’re running behind I understand that too but please reach out to me and let me know NOTHING AGAIN!! The lack of communication is completely amateur And not professional at all I ran a Tree service almost 20 years While working a full-time job and never once did I go do an estimate take pictures of peoples things and then leave and never have communication with them again that’s kind of creepy! So yeah when I initially called that’s been almost a month now in the prime time of things when everyone is ordering a furnace I am stuck waiting till almost December thanks Mike!!! If you are not capable or you’re not proficient enough or don’t have the skill set to do this job you should’ve mentioned that in the beginning when you were taking them pictures!! aren’t you the boss? I mean wouldn’t you know then this is something you don’t want to attempt or is it that you thought maybe we wouldn’t be able to afford it? Believe me I am well prepared to spend would it cost to have one of these generators installed and somebody else will profit off of that and I’m OK with that as long as they don’t leave me hanging like you did!! Pretty upset that you didn’t have the Nads to call me back and explain your shortcomings!! That’s OK I’ll have a brand new Generac in there real soon!! Along with a brand new furnace and AC unit .... 17400$ cash !! That would’ve been a nice little chunk of change for your little shotty business! I hope people read this and realize just because you’re on Angie’s list or registered with the Better Business Bureau that doesn’t mean anything all that means is you made a donation! My paperwork from the BBB is on its way also! Keep plugging away!😏

We had Bratcher install a Briggs and Stratton backup generator and transfer switch for our house. They came out when they said they would and took 6 hours to do the complete job. The workers were very courteous and respectful, and cleaned up completely after they were done. They explained how everything worked before they left and asked if I had any questions.

Mike and his team were responsive and exceptionally professional. Mike was prompt in coming out and giving us a quote. He helped me understand the process from the beginning and the price was very fair. And I can't say enough good things about the installation team - exceptional professionals, even working in the cold and snow.

Mike Bratcher quoted and his team installed a whole house standby generator with transfer switch using the new GE Symphony II technology. This system is able to be sized smaller than other generators due to its smart loading technology. The quote came in quite a bit less than the other companies we had quote this business due to its smaller size. The cost of natural gas to run a smaller generator is also significant due to its lower fuel requirement. Mike included a whole house surge protector as part of the package. The system was located exactly where we wanted it and the wiring and gas lines were well placed with no visible exterior wires or pipes. We highly recommend Bratcher Electric for professional quality generator installations or any other type of electrical work.

Eric and his associate arrived early in the morning on a freezing cold day, and had the generator installed in a number of hours. They provided me with the lowest estimate of all of the companies I contacted. They were also able to navigate a number of structural issues with my home, that other companies insisted were not workable (routing the gas line and electrical wiring above the finished portion of my basement.) Of course, we haven't lost power at all since the generator was installed!

These guys are great. Mike himself came and did the estimate and his crew of installers were very professional. The unit was installed with a minimum of disruption and later, when another tech came by to install my 30 amp RV hookup, it was done exactly to my specifications. This is a first rate firm with excellent installers.

We were exploring the installation of a whole house electrical generator. We had Michael out because our neighbor had used him and was happy. When he initially came out and gave a quote, he was responsive. He did arrive late to the appointment, but a woman from the office called five minutes before the scheduled one to let us know. He told us that if we were interested, to later contact him. I later had some follow up questions for him. When I called his office, it referred to his cell phone. His cell went directly to voicemail and I left a message. A week passed and when I did not hear from him, I sent him an email with very thorough and detailed questions. Another week had passed and I reached back out to him by a call to his office. I left a one more voicemail and still never heard from him. Due to the lack of response, we felt that we were not comfortable move forward on the job with him.

Mr Bratcher came to the site and looked over the remodeling project to estimate the cost of the electrical work. 2 weeks after his visit I called to see if the quote was ready. I was told that they were very busy but would get to the estimate and I would have it within the week. After over a week I called again since I had not heard from Bratcher Electric. Again I was told they are busy and that Mr Bratcher would call me that day or the next day at the latest. Three days later I still did not hear from them so I called again and was told they were sorry but would get the estimate to me the next day. I told them if they were not interested in quoting this project, please let me know so I can get another contractor to do the job, I was assured that they would contact me by the next day. I have not heard from Bratcher Electric since that last call I made to them.

All I can say is Mike Bratcher knows generators. I had received several bids on the installation of a natural gas whole house generator to handle my needs in this 1600sq ft house. Was I confused. I had companies telling me I needed a huge unit, and that required I give up my discounted interruptible a/c electric meter and up-size my gas meter which would add hundreds to this job, and hundreds to my ongoing annual electric bill. What they said I needed, and the prices, were all over the board. I heard Mike on an interview with Glenn Haege - the Master Handyman- on his WJR 760am radio show. I asked for his opinion. He spent a lot of time explaining how to size a generator, and how you set up the electrical so you don' t lose the utility discount. When all was said and done, he had me convinced he knew what he was talking about. I ran his suggestions past our city building dept. They saw no problem. It took about two weeks from signed contract to installation. His crew arrived as scheduled. Were conscientious, polite, and took great care in running pipe and positioning the unit. Everything is functional and aesthetic. This unit does a weekly self test and has kicked in on a half dozen times, from a few minutes to 7 hours. It has functioned flawlessly. If you are seriously considering a generator, I suggest you contact Bratcher as one of the providers to bid. You'll get an education and Mike's ideas for your install just may save you some money too.

The experience was fantastic. They came and gave us the electric as fast as possible. It was awesome. The previous contractor purposely had everything disconnected, so that we either had to put it together or freeze that winter, so we had to hire them to keep going. We didn't work that way. They charged around $5000 for the upstairs electrical. They are still working with us for downstairs as it was completely destroyed.

An example of a difficulty - was that I agreed to pay $190 for a generator 'warranty' that included a tune-up the first year, which wasn't done, even though the guys were here - it just didn't get put on their list of jobs. When the generator stopped running at a year old, it took me about 5 phone calls to make them understand that I wasn't about to pay for 'repair' when it hadn't gotten a 'tune-up' I had paid for - they turned out to be basically the same thing. In the end, the repair or tune-up, whatever you call it, was done, generator ran fine and they did it under the 'warranty'. Works for me. Also, they have returned to do the tune up since then and the generator runs perfectly.
Description of Work: Bratcher Electric was hired to do the wiring for my new pool, along with other improvements to our then 45 yro house. Overall, I have to say they were honest and mostly reliable. It took much longer to accomplish the job than they or I expected because there was only one guy on the job most of the time and it was a big job. We had the service from the pole to the house upgraded from about 60 or 75 (don't remember for sure) to 250, which included moving the service pole on top of the house (and all the meters from the back of the house to the side) to bring it up to code. We switched from fuses to a new box with circuit breakers and had surge protectors and grounds added. We had all of the wiring done for the pool including heater & service to the patio, all including GFI's - this was more complicated than it sounds. We added a 12,000 Kw generator with a transfer switch to run automatically on natural gas when the power goes out. Also, a street-style lamp was added in the backyard. The guy on the job was professional and competant, the only problem was that there were always problems he often found difficult. Being an older house (and one it seems the original electricians had a lot of fun wiring) the difficulties were often in need of more experience than he had. Like I said to begin with though, they were honest. Every problem was dealt with sooner or later, it just took a very long time. Since I personally seem to have trouble finding honest contractors who will come back and finish the job, I would hire them again because that's my bottom line - do you get all the work you pay for even when problems arise.

I can't say enough about the friendly people and quality service from Bratcher Electric. The two ladies who helped me with information over the phone were knowledgeable, helpful and fun to talk with!. Owner, Mike Bratcher, came to give me an estimate within a day or two of my phone call, and came at a time convenient for me. Mike was prompt, and efficient. He answered all my questions and made good suggestions. The technicians began service the same day I called to accept the estimate Mike wrote out for me. They too, were prompt, and did quality work. The estimate, I might add, was the lowest of the companies I contacted. What really prompted me to contact Bratcher Electric was that it was noted on Angie's List that they were a local company which has been in business over forty years. I expect to contact them in the future to install the electrical system for a pool. Needless to say, I highly recommend Bratcher Electric.
