Description of Work: Upon contacting Keller we were able to schedule an appointment for an estimate the next day. The owner called to inquire if it would be convenient to come by a bit earlier which actually worked better for me. He arrived on time, removed his shoes at the door and was friendly and professional. He provided information regarding the company, including liability insurance documentation and explained their policy on workmanship guarantees. He thoroughly examined the rooms we wanted painted, asked questions to ensure he knew exactly what we wanted done, explained what his crew would do, the type of paint they use, what we would need to do in preparation, etc. He also offered a free consultation with an interior designer if we needed help to decide on paint colors. We received a detailed quote via email that evening. I met with 5 contractors before hiring one. One quote was significantly higher than all the others and one was quite a bit lower. The other 3, including Keller, were within a couple hundred $ in the middle. I did not select Keller for 2 reasons. The company I selected was: 1. recommended by a friend and I had actually seen the paint job, and 2. was offering a 25% discount (his price was initially higher than Keller but less with the 25% discount). Of all the contractors I met with, Keller would have been my choice without the referral from my friend. Overall, I found Keller to be the most professional, seemed to be very honest, thorough and dedicated to doing a quality job. My paint job (multiple rooms) turned out pretty good overall, however, I think I would have went with Keller if I had to do it again. I will definitely contact Keller in the future and have already recommended Keller to family members in the area. My recommendations before selecting a contractor: 1. Meet with multiple contractors/companies 2. ask about the type of paint they use and do a little research to find out how the paint compares with what the other contractors use 3. observe if the contractor removes his/her shoes before touring your home (it should be automatic for them to remove or cover their shoes as they need to be concerned about tracking dirt and paint thru your home when they are working). 4. ask questions, some contractors price every detail of the job and some do not spell out everything but instead say it's all included - make sure you understand what is included (extra charge to paint doors, molding, multiple paint colors) 5. make sure you are comparing apples to apples, for example, ask how many coats of paint will be applied (one of the contractors was certain that one coat would cover my ceilings and quoted for 1 but the other four said no less than 2 and included 2 in their quotes) 6. research the company online for a website, reviews, Better Business Bureau affiliation and/or complaints made against the company, and just a general search to see if any customer horror stories may surface 7. ask about product & workmanship guarantees as well as proof of liablity insurance coverage if not offered upfront 8. inquire if you will need to move furniture or what you may need to do to prepare the space to insure your furniture, carpet, etc. are preserved and remain undamaged. Also what happens if something is damaged by the contractor. 8. do not hire someone on the spot - take your time, review the quotes, your likes/dislikes about each contractor and sleep on it - do not let anyone push you into committing immediately. 9. ask how soon the job can be completed and if you are not in a hurry, if it's a busy season you may be able to get a discounted price if you wait until a less busy time (i.e. after the holidays, during the winter if the company does exterior painting, etc.)
