In Home Window Cleaning & Power Washing

Arrived on time. Completed the job in approximately 2 hours. Windows looked very clean. I noticed that none of the windows on the first floor were re-locked after the job was complete, so I went around and locked each one. When I went to the upstairs windows, I noticed an issue. We have two side by side windows in the master bathroom and the one directly over the tub had a gray bar hanging in the grooved area above and to the left side of the window that none of the other windows had and the window would not slide down enough to lock the window. I immediately called and reported this issue (as well as a pink mark left on the acrylic on the tub) to Jessica, with whom I had scheduled the appointment and asked to have the manager / owner contact me. I also took photos of the unbroken and broken side and texted them to Jessica. I let her know that I would be home the rest of the afternoon in case the manager wanted to come and take a look for himself. Upon looking at the photos, it was clear that the long gray bar that was hanging to the top of the window was once attached to the small grey ring, lying at the bottom of the window and that this was the mechanism that allowed the window to open and close properly. After several hours, Jessica called back and said that she had spoken to the manager and had explained the issue to him and we agreed that a truck would be out the following Monday. I took off work the following Monday afternoon and to my surprise, the same two young men that had cleaned the windows were the ones that were responding to the repair issue. However, when I showed them the issue, what I believe to be the more senior of the two young men responded with "well we dont fix windows, we just clean them", followed soon after with "if this was a normal wear and tear issue then I would have noticed that I broke it, but I know I didn't break this." and "Jeremiah is not going to fix this". (I later noticed that Jeremiah is the name of the company owner). He continued to fumble with the two gray pieces (bar and ring) when I said if you are not here to fix this then I want you to leave. It was frustrating enough that I had to take time off work to have a truck come out, only to see that they were not going to do anything. I immediately called Jessica and reported this issue and she said that she will have the owner call me. As a side note, there are many new homes going up in our neighborhood, so I was able to speak to one of the construction foreman about this issue. He said it is very inexpensive and easy to repair. It's too bad that this company chose this path and just lost a REPEAT customer. It's just not worth it to me to have to be responsible to fix things should they break them. As for the pink mark on my tub, I was so infuriated at the lack of responsibility of the window issue, that I did not follow up with the stain. Update 8/29/13: Jeremiah never returned my call, so I called Jessica today to ask her to remind him that I was waiting to speak to him. A few hours later, he called. We went back and forth about what happened to the window. He stated that his tech said he didn't cause the issue and I stated that he did and that I had called to report the issue less than an hour after his techs left my home. I explained that the house wasn't even 2 years old and that it was not broken before they arrived. He said the windows were not high-end and they were old and called them "crap windows". He referred to himself as the manager and I suggested that perhaps I should speak to the owner. He replied "that's not gonna happen because I'm not giving you his cell number". I was livid and asked him point blank "Are you going to fix the F***in window?" (not my finest moment). I told him that I had spoken to a general contractor and he said the part is not expensive and not difficult to repair. He said then that I need to have it fixed anyway so I should go ahead and pay for it to be fixed and then send him the receipt. Knowing that he had not been responsive thus far, I asked if he was going to reimburse me if I sent it him the receipt. He would not commit, just said for me to have it fixed and then send him the receipt. I asked him to send me an email stating that he would reimburse me for it once I sent him the receipt. He would not. I said Goodbye Jeremiah and hung up the phone. I'll be getting Angie's List assistance to resolve this one. Update 10/03: I contacted the company that installed the windows originally and they came out to do the repair. They had to reschedule with me one time so when they did arrive to repair the window, it was such a simple repair that they didn't even charge me for it. I contacted Angie's list to tell them this and they said I have an option to either mark the issue as resolved, and then update the review that I am happy with the service, or mark the issue as "Customer does not agree" ( or something like that) and then the review would remain as is. I wanted to make sure this review was not removed so I chose the latter. When I went to update this review, I noticed that the provider had responded to my initial postings. The only true things about the response are that the window cleaning was very good, the same young men that cleaned and broke the window came back to tell me they clean windows, they don't fix them and as I mentioned initially and that I did say the "F" word one time when I asked if they were going to fix the "F" ing window. I'm really glad I decided to leave the review up so that others will have the full story. Use your judgement and take your chances.

It was a bad experience with them from beginning to end. When we first called we had an "open" appointment because we were flexible. Well 1 1/2 weeks went by and they never came, so we called again. They came out promptly after the 2nd call, but they did a horrible job. They made a mess everywhere and did not thoroughly clean the gutters. They didn't clean the side gutters at all, just the roof gutters. I would not recommend them.

Both times I contacted the company, they were prompt to respond to my request for service (one by phone, another by e-mail). They were prompt to schedule the service, and arrived at the stated time. Work inside the house was not disrupting, even to the point where the workers removed shoes to avoid dirtying the carpets by bringing outdoor dirt inside. The cleaning was thorough, and efficient. This year's service was scheduled by e-mail, me sending a message Sunday, receiving a confirmation call at 9 a.m. Monday, and the crew arriving Tuesday. I didn't have to be home because the work was outside. The lady scheduling the service said they'd leave a bill. Wouldn't have known they had come by while my wife and I were at a restaurant except I noticed that leaves which had been on the deck and porch were gone when we returned. As promised, the bill was left in the mailbox. The cost was fair, service quick and efficient, and the crew courteous and attentive to my needs while in my home.

This was an easy, pleasant experience. The person I spoke to, to set up an appointment, was very helpful and polite. By simply giving her my address, she was able to see on the internet how large my house was and was able to give me an immediate quote. Because it was a fair price and because this company had a very good rating on Angie's List, I hired them and we set up an appointment. They came out on the day we had planned. When they were about half an hour away, they gave me a phone call saying they were on their way. I thought that was courteous. When they arrived, one young man asked me to show him around the entire house and communicate any concerns or questions that I had. They did a wonderful job. It was a big job and it took several hours but they worked very hard, didn't fool around or goof off. They didn't take "smoke" breaks or anything. They were very hard workers. I'm thoroughly happy with the completed job and will definitely use them again. I will readily recommend them to any friends or family who need windows cleaned.

I had a coupon which was supposed to include the entire house for $220, but by the time the screeens and windows in the basement and my sunroom were added on, this was this was over $400. I think they keep talking you into services, and because I have to take a day off to deal with things like this, I was easily swayed. I would try to limit this inflation of the job in the future. Other than that, these folks were pretty hard working and very friendly. Some of my windows did not come clean, and I was told this was because the rain had caused metal from the screens to stain the glass permanently. I have no way of knowing if that is possible or not.

I was called by this company to clean my windows this fall (they had cleaned them in the past, for $160). We set an appointment day and time. Forty five minutes after the scheduled arrival time, I received a call from a technician telling me he wouldn't be there for another 45 minutes. I had a busy afternoon, and said this was a problem - he suggested I call the home office to have someone else come. When I called the home office, I was told there really is an hour range for the person to come, and so the technician wouldn't be that late. I was also told he could do the inside windows first, then I could pay him and leave -- and the technician could finish the outside without me home. When the technician arrived - by my calcs 90 minutes late, by their's 30 minutes late - he asked how much I had been quoted, and if I wanted my screens cleaned. I said $160, and yes I wanted the screens cleaned. He proceed to clean the inside windows, outside windows and screens. I then wrote him a check for $160, and was told that price didn't include the screens - those would be $3 apiece (I had 15). I called the home office to try to understand what was going on, and they said I must be confused - they would never have quoted $160 with screens. The discussion became heated, and the individual at the home office hung up on me. I paid the technician the extra $45, but will not use them again because I believe they mislead me. There were several chances for them to say to me that the screens were more, and how much, and they didn't until the work was done. I will say the work was very satisfactory, but I think $205 for less than two hours of work and a less than upfront price is not a company I will do business with again.

The windows were fine and they did a very good job on the window cleaning. I will never use them again for carpet cleaning. I have very, very light carpets and I had a lot of spots from dogs on it. I asked them to pay special attention to it, which they did. After they were all done I noticed that whatever he put on them totally bleached the carpets so I was worse off than I was before. I ripped out the carpet and replaced it with wood floors. The quality of the finished work on the windows was fine. I called and scheduled a day and they never showed up. I called to find out why they didn't come because I had moved all the furniture and they didn't have me in their computer. They scrambled and got me a truckful of guys to do it. It felt like it was rushed because they didn't have the right date and everything was messed up. It was something that fell through in their office. The window part was good but they fouled up the date and ruined my carpet. I was in a hurry to get it done so I didn't do a bunch of price comparisons.

Although they arrived a little later than the original appointment time frame, they called to let me know when they'd be getting here, which I really appreciated. The young men were pleasant and professional, and worked efficiently and quickly - the entire house was done in less than 90 minutes. The estimate I was given by telephone was exactly what they charged, and good value for the money. I will have In-Home back again for future window washings. They did an excellent job. (Of course it rained that night...but the windows still look 100% cleaner! )

They wouldn't clean the basement windows. Just make sure they get all of the spots before they leave.

In October 2009 they showed up on time ro clean the gutters. They sold me on adding gutter guards to some of the harder to reach gutters. This work was done. This winter huge icicles formed where we never had them before unless the gutters were clogged. Then this spring we found out that they had left openings at the end of each gutter (see picture) and the birds thought this a great place to build nests. Of course this clogged the gutters defeating the purpose of the gutter guard in the first place. So in just over 7 months the gutters needed to be cleaned again. When I called them about what could be done the owner said that they didn't know how to fix this problem. When I suggested a simple fix he said that they were not willing to do this or anything else. I would have paid for these modifications but the owner was so unpleasant that I did not want to continue the conversation. It appears that all they want to do is take your money and could care less about satisfactory results. I will find someone else to fix this problem and clean my gutters in the future.

They always do a great job, inside and out. Prices are very reasonable.

This is about the 4th time we have used In-Home Window Cleaning. We initially used them because they left a promotional piece in our mailbox. The are polite, professional, punctual and provide a service at a fair value.

This was the third time we used In Home and all experiences have been very good. The people are prompt, courteous, and do a good job. We tried them the first time because they left a flier in our mail box. It was a good choice.
