I'd definitely recommend this company. They arrived on time, were very careful with our belongings and worked quickly. At my new location, I did not have any concrete and it was very very muddy. Two of them worked outside and handed off my furniture to two people inside, who remained mud free. This worked very well and I could not have been move pleased. It's been a month, I've unpacked my belongings, and nothing was broken. They also got done a lot quicker than the estimate, so it ended up costing less. Who wouldn't be happy.

The movers were nice and took good care of our stuff. two of the three beds moved were put together at our new home. They made sure that furniture was put where we wanted it, and even rearranged a couple of times when I changed my mind. They stayed longer to finish the job, which was necessary. That added $300+ to the estimate price, understandably. Unfortunately though there was still a lot of properly boxed stuff that didn't make it on the truck, and we had to go back and get those containers. I was a bit disappointed that the office didn't provide a moving packet with materials to help me better organize the move. I know some companies do that, and I didn't get that level of service.

When I first called on Friday, Feb. 7, Justin answered the phone right away and he was very helpful. Since this was our first move in 39 years, and we were moving out of our "starter" home to our new house about 40 minutes away, it was a bit stressful for us. Justin reassured me that they would be careful in handling our belongings. He said they were available on Feb. 22 and he held the date for us. He came out to the house the following Monday or Tuesday (I forget) to see what we had to move. He was very personable and nice and we hit it off right away. While that has nothing to do with how well the movers perform, it helped to deal with someone who was understanding to our needs. Justin determined we'd need one truck and four men and said he would send the estimate the next day, even though he had that day off. I didn't see it until a couple of days later because it went to my spam folder which was my mistake! No harm done and we agreed to the estimate of $1370, knowing it might be less because our son had been hauling loads to our new place and wanted to take a few more, which he did. In the end, we had a sectional sofa, love seat, dining room table and six chairs, a bed with dresser and chest of drawers, three end tables (one glass), a large breakfront, and an exercise bike, just to name the largest items. The four movers came in and went right to work, putting down moving blankets on the floor. It was a little bit difficult for me to watch my stuff being handled, but our daughter, who has used movers a few times, kept an eye on things and said they were doing a very good job. They worked quickly, but carefully, and soon everything was on the truck and they were off to get the things we had stored in a nearby storage unit. These things were mostly boxes of toys, books, etc., with a few loose odds and ends thrown in. The unit was pretty full front to back, but not up to the ceiling. They had it loaded on the truck in 15 minutes or so. They had to stop for gas, but they were at the new house in 40-45 minutes or so, which is about what it takes to drive between the two houses. Everything went well at the new house. They worked fast and non-stop. They didn't even stop for the coffee we'd bought. When they had most of the stuff brought in, they stopped for a quick lunch that we had brought in from the nearby coney island restaurant. They were very polite and considerate young men. When they were finished, they asked if we wanted them to move anything around. Our son and another friend were there to help with re-arranging, so we said we were fine. The final bill was $1020, less than the estimate. We wrote the check, shook hands with the guys and they were off. As far as we know, nothing was broken, although we'd driven most breakables earlier, ourselves. There were some smudges on the walls, but nothing that hasn't been wiped off. All in all, they did a good job and I would hire them again, but I hope I won't have to because one move every 39 years is more than enough!

We got an estimate including six men and two trucks to move from our two story colonial into a smaller Ranch. Distance from one to the other was only 6 miles but we wanted it done in one day while others needed two. We got several estimates and Changing Places was not really cheaper but the way they approached the job with manpower and equipment made us confident it would get done within their quote. The final bill was actually less than their estimate but they attribute that to the packing and set up we had done before they got there. Apparently, a lot of people say they will do certain prep work but then don't when the movers show up. Changing places also supports Habitat for Humanity and if you have items you don't want they will move, store and help sell them with the proceeds going to HFH. This can be a real advantage to a home owner looking to down size. The day of the move it was about ZERO degrees in January but six guys and two trucks showed up right on time. It was slippery and cold but everyone was ready to work. You can tell they have been trained that no one walks out of a room without something in their hands. Of the six men one supervised the placement on the truck and another packing and loading in the house. Boxes we packed were all labeled which helped in identifying where they were placed when unloaded. We had agreed to move all glass (table tops, shelves, pictures) and that left them with furniture and boxes plus packing the kitchen. Warning, we had been told one guy would work on packing the Kitchen but all six attacked it with determination and we are still looking for things. Large pieces were handled very carefully with a steady flow out the door, furniture had to be disassembled while others carried boxes.They worked steadily with one short break till the first House was empty and only them did they take a lunch break while traveling to the second location. With the unload you have to stand right at the door to guide each guy as something comes through the door. Labeled boxes are a must and take the time to decide what is going where before they get there because it comes fast. We had a lot of furniture gong into the basement until some work is done on the second house and they were tired but the grumbeling was good natured with each large piece going down the stairs. A crew of 6 kept us on our toes the whole time giving direction and answering questions and we were tired without doing any of the lifting. The end result was all we could expect, a few things ended up in the wrong place and some pieces were in creative packing (a piece of the bed ended up in the clothes hamper). Absolutely nothing was damaged, a tribute to the care even while moving quickly and getting breakables properly out of the way in advance. These people have a positive and professional attitude and it shows in everything they do. They may not be the cheapest but we certainly got more than we paid for. Each of the guys got a tip at completion and it was earned.

Excellent! Changing Places Movers is an exceptional moving company. The movers are friendly and professional, very reliable, timely, and take care moving all items. I would recommend and use them again without reservation.

I happened to call in winter, so they had great availability. I was able to schedule only a few days in advance. I moved a small number of items, so it seemed a little pricey, but it was pretty competitive based on other moving companies that I called. The receptionist (I think Haley or Kaley?) was very kind and patient with me. I didn't use their online form because I had a tighter time frame I needed to meet. The night before the move, there were about 4" of snow that dropped, but they still arrived within five minutes of their estimated arrival range. They said between 8am and 8:30am, and it was 8:35am when they arrived. The roads were pretty bad, so I was impressed. Also, I left probably a few minutes before they did at the first house to stop by the ATM and get a tip for them, and they almost beat me to the second house. They had a giant truck, so I expected them to be much slower. It is nice to know they aren't trying to skim more money by driving slowly. Michael and Michael were very professional and did not make me feel rushed or anxious. They also shoveled and salted a path to the door without complaint, because we were not able to shovel it before they got there. I would have preferred that they laid down more towels over the carpet, because the white carpet was pretty dirty from the wet boots, but in all honesty, I was not vocal and I did not notice until it was too late. I think they would have happily put more blankets down. So, I would recommend letting them know you want blankets ANYWHERE they walk, because they have plenty of them. They were very careful, and the time estimate was right on the button. I have had other movers come through from Angies List (movers r us) that were ranked high but still managed to ding my wall, so it was a relief that they were able to move things quickly and safely. I also appreciated their patience, because I really hadn't thought through where everything was going, and they worked with me to get it all in the right spot. We had disassembled a bed before they got there because we were organizing the room, and I had kind of hoped they would put it back together, but again, they probably had no idea. So, if you choose them, be sure to tell them EXACTLY what you are expecting. They were truly excellent and there was no run around in booking the appointment or working with the movers. I have every intention of using them next time, and recommending them to everyone I know. At least I know I won't have to search Angie's List again for a mover! =D

They did a wonderful job. It was really snowy, icy, and slippery, and still managed to get our stuff their safely. I would definately recommend them to others. They were very accomodating. They set up the furniture and moved it to where we wanted and set it up for us. They even put down protection on the stairs and the wood floors.

They were excellent, fast efficient and clean. Scheduling went fine and they were exactly on-time. The price was fair. They were an A+.

Moved 3300 square foot home to 2100 square foot home, about 10 miles. They completed the move within the estimated time (8 hours), and a bit below the estimated cost. All movers we courteous, respectful, and professional. I would definitely use again.

The last time I moved, I did it myself with my truck, an open trailer along and with whomever was willing to pitch in...I swore I would never do it again. When it came time to move from our short term rental in Troy to our new house in Rochester Hills, I wanted a local mover and relied on Angie's List to help me decide. Based on reviews, I ended up going with Changing Places. I received a quote over the phone by giving the the basic list of items I wanted moved. They quoted me three guys and a big truck, set the date and took my down payment (I think it was 20%?) over the phone. The guys showed up reasonably on time and after a quick walk through went to work. For having to do this in very cold weather and early in the morning, these guys had a fantastic attitude. A good blend of professionalism and fun personalities. Loading up was easy...even filled the truck to the brim by loading a bunch of items that I hadn't been quoted for (these guys have to be masters at Tetris). Unpacking was a bit trickier as our new house had a tight layout...especially for going upstairs with our giant master bedroom set. They were magicians though and got everything where we wanted it. They also did a great job of helping us make little adjustments to things to get it right....they didn't just put our stuff in the house and bug out. Overall I am very happy with the move and would recommend them to anyone. Few things to note though: -We had to change the date for the movers a week before go-time...I made it by a day, but keep in mind you have to do this 72hrs beforehand to avoid fees -There are fees associated with super heavy items...I'm sure they told me up front (couldn't remember by the time we actually moved), but make sure you ask so there is no surprises at the end. For example, they charged me an additional 20$ for my gun safe. -They take a break for food and refreshment between loading and unloading....and frankly they deserve it....but they don't charge you for it. It only affects you in terms of time...which isn't a big deal. -From my quote an confirmation of date, I didn't hear from them up until the day of the move. I thought they were supposed to contact me a day or two before hand but maybe because I changed my time it didn't happen. I called them at 7:30am on the Saturday we moved and got a hold of someone (which is pretty amazing)...before I told him my name he knew what and where was going on and calmed my fear of no one showing up (we HAD to be out that day). So...not really a big deal as it all worked out in the end. So, other than feeling lazy watching them work, all was well!

The move went very smoothly. The two men showed up right on time, had everything packed up and out the door in a couple of hours. Everything was very well packed and protected, even though it was raining heavily. Delivery to the house also went smoothly, and it was all done quickly. We have no complaints and would definitely recommend them to others.

Crew was courteous, on time and worked very hard. We had an expectation that the upholstered furniture would be wrapped in plastic, but this did not happen. I did not specifically ask this at the time of quotation. The furniture was handled good, and will be removed from storage in 3 or 4 months and we will see if the plastic wrap proves to be an issue or not.

This was a very small move done only three days after I contacted the firm. Everyone was accommodating about the short notice. The movers were punctual, professional, and courteous. Highly recommended.

We had just sold our condominum and knew that we could not move all the heavy furniture ourselves. I researched Angie's List and found Changing Places Moving. I documented all the items we wanted moved and called for an estimate. The woman I talked to recorded all the information which was to include 2 drop off points. Based on our move she told me the number of trucks and manpower needed and the time it would take to complete the move. She was also able to schedule it within the 2 1/2 week time frame given before closing. On Friday, September 27, Zack and Jason arrived at our condo as scheduled and began hauling all of the furniture out to their truck. They were a pleasure to work with and did everything that we asked. Moving is a stressful event but Zack and Jason took all of the anxiety out of what could have been a long day. They knew exactly what had to be done and they did it. We were done in 4 hours with everything going according to the estimate given during the inital phone call. We've already been approached by friends who foresee a move in their future and have asked how our move went. We were more than happy to pass along the phone number to Changing Places.

The gentleman that provided the job quote was very knowledgeable and congenial, and gave me a price quote that beat the competition. I called him back and booked a tentative move date (sellers had not closed on new home yet) and left a deposit. He called back right after our closing to see if the date was still good, and again a week before the scheduled move. The estimate was for 6 men and 3 trucks to arrive at 8:30. The crew arrived on time and quickly surveyed the material to be moved and quickly got to work loading everything. The move went without any problems at all and furthermore nothing was damaged in the move! Great, great bunch of men would gladly hire them again, but I hope I do not have to move again!

This was a very good experience. After sending an email inquiry, I received a call the next day to follow up. I was too busy to talk and they agreed to call back in a day or so...and did. We talked through what I needed done and the contents of the house to come up with an estimate on the phone. Cayla was thorough and professional as she walked me through the house with the phone estimating each room. We set our date for the move and I provided a deposit. I received two reminder/confimation calls prior to our move date. On the morning of our move, two trucks and five men arrived on time, each introducing themself and shaking hands with my husband and me. Then they got right to work, covering floors as needed and loading up the trucks quickly and efficiently. They took a half hour for lunch on the way to the new house, then arrived and unloaded carefully and quickly, asking where to put each box and item, which greatly helped us in our unpacking process. Thank you! I would definitely use and recommend this moving company again.

Ok these guys were unbelievable--it was worth watching what a great team of strong young men could do safely carefully never ever complained. how teams should work Jason you are the strongest person in Detroit, Thank you for moving my piano so well. Raymond and Chad arrived right on time and did an excellent job. They were extremely careful with everything and took their time. I had them move a number of items at the new home as well, and they did everything as asked and did a great job. I would definitely recommend them. Thank you for doing a great job!

The service was excellent. All of the workers were very professional, and they came in under budget. They had about 8 men with them, and they worked very well together as a team. Everything was done very quickly and efficiently, and they were able to get the job done within about 4 hours. They were all very friendly and helpful, and I felt they went above and beyond a typical moving job. I would highly recommend them.

AWESOME Prompt courteous professional. So helpful. Loved them. The guys forgot to deduct their lunch so the office called us the next biz day to let us know it was even less. Johna the owner discussed our inventory over the phone and sent two trucks and 5 guys and it was all done in less than 5 hours. Recommending them to all the peoe moving in to our sub. We were first to move in. Cannot say enough. They covered our floors and protected the carpets and worked like oxen only taking a break while switching trucks and their lunch. I provided bottled water plus they had their own. Having these guys move us was the easiest part of our whole move. The quote ws 2k less than Corrigan. TOTALLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Tell them i sent ya

My experience started with the estimate which was timely and professional. I always threw tentative move dates at them and they were very responsive and flexible. The actual move was done very well. They took care of our belongings and made us feel very comfortable throughout the day.

I had a terrific experience from the first conversation with Kayla. She was very helpful in getting all the details put together. Joe, Jason and Mike M showed up right on time and got to work right away. They all were very personable and didn't waste any time. My wife and I thank you and will be sure to spread the word!

We were very pleased with the actual moving experience, as they arrived on time brought 3 trucks, and 6 people to make the process go as quickly as possible. Everything was going great until they accidentally knocked over a lamp and bumped our laptops (resulting in a fall of several feet onto a brick hearth). They apologized and said the office would follow up with us on an accident report. Unfortunately it took several calls, and several weeks, to finally get a resolution. The company uses a 3rd party insurance company for these situations. Dealing with them was easy, and they ended up compensating us for all damages, I only wish Changing Places had been more responsive regarding the incident.
