We called Maple Lane Pest Control to get rid of squirrels. The woman said they didn't handle squirrels and referred us to A & D. We called A & D and the woman told us the $179 price to come out & $89 per squirrel captured. She checked and said their crew would be out in 3 hours (about 25 miles away). Michael & Evan came early. They went around the house, but didn't see any squirrel holes. They did see a mouse hole under the wooden chimney structure. They inspected the attic and found evidence of mice. When asked for what they recommended, Mike said poison, which in the wintertime might last 6 months. It forces the mice to leave the attic. The hole can be plugged 2 weeks after. They said the cost would be an extra $89. We agreed & they returned to the attic and set the poison. They said that they don't have to return. He said the mice could return since we "fed" them. Mike also warned us of feeding the squirrels with corn & peanuts; and the birds with seed. He said that the mice get it either from the storage in the garage or what falls on the ground. When making out the bill Mike said they were members of ANGIES LIST and I could print out a $10 coupon for first visit. p.s. When I was near their pickup truck, I smelled an animal smell. I asked Mike and he said they had two skunks in the back. I asked him how they prevented getting sprayed by the skunks. He said he holds up a sheet when approaching the trapped animal and any spray gets on the sheet. Then he places he sheet over the cage.
Description of Work: We heard tracks, a couple of thumps & noises in the bedroom ceiling & thought it was squirrels. A & D fixed the problem in one hour.

Phoned the provider Sunday morning (Father's Day.) They claim to provide 24 hour emergency service. While the gentleman was pleasant on the phone, he just kept telling me how "swamped with business" they were, but assured me he would get someone out - probably not that day, being Father's Day, but he would get back to me on Monday. He left a message Monday night that he would call again and did not. Early Tuesday morning, he called and told me to call someone closer to me to remove the creature from my wall. I feel this company wasted my time and delayed a timely response to remove the live but trapped animal. They are well rated, but in this case, totally did not earn any merit ? they were a complete fail and actually made the situation worse by delaying response.
Description of Work: I phoned and spoke to Al Krier, the provider. He took the job on Sunday. He did not call me on Monday, as promised. He phoned @ 6:30 p.m. on Monday and left a message that "he had dropped the ball" by not calling me earlier that day, but would get back to me later that evening. He did not. He phoned the following morning and told me to find another provider who was "closer to me."

On a Sunday morning, my wife and I heard something in the attic. After calling several places, I found A&D Animal Control on Angie's List. Al Krier answered the phone immedicately and said he would dispatch someone out asap the same morning. There was no emergency charge or extra service fee for work on a Sunday. A very professional guy came to the house by 10:30 am, evaluated the situation, removed the raccoon from the roof, found a bird, removed the bird from the attic, and did it all in less than an hour. I could not have asked for a better outcome to a very unusual situation. Thanks Al and thank you A&D Animal Control. Hopefully I don't need to call you anytime soon, but if I do or if I know anyone who needs your services, I would be happy to recommend A&D Animal Control.

I have used this company, every spring, for about five years. Spring seems to cause mice to make their home in my attic! I had to cancel, a couple of hours before my original appointment time, due to a family emergency. When I called to reschedule the woman remembered that and said she hoped all was well--it was a personal touch, that was much appreciated. As always, the gentleman who came out was friendly and professional. He left no mess and also took time to exam the outside of my home to identify any potential entry points the mice might be using to get into the attic. A few days after each appointment, I get a very nice card from the owner, that includes a list of what to do to prevent various "critters" from invading one's home/yard. Another personal touch. Highly recommend this company.

&D came to our house very promptly on the day i placed the call to request the service. A raccoon was trying to gain entry to the attic by chewing through a portion of the roof. Mike inspected the site placed a humane trap and a footprint tracking device to see if the animal had gained entry or if on the outside returned to the site. He followed up as promised within 3 days. He was very service oriented and in our discussions it was obvious he had many years of experience in dealing with this type of situation. He made a temporary repair to the damaged area to restrict access until I can have a roofer provide a long term solution. It has now been a week and there is no sign of the raccoon. I can highly recommend A &D and would call them without hesitation if I have any issues with uninvited animals.

This company provided exceptional service. The representatives had to remove interlopers that had entered our attic through two widely separated openings. Birds, then squirrels managed to chew a hole in the highest part of our rather tall house and a raccoon (or maybe a possum - both were caught) found an entry through a loosened vent. The task took a number of trips, more, I think, than were anticipated; but they handled the whole job with great knowledge and skill. They also handled the captured animals with compassion.

Having heard and seen a racoon on our roof over multiple nights, we were concerned that a racoon had entered our attic and was setting up a new home. A & D was the first animal removal company that called, after having reviewed the websites of multiple companies. The woman I spoke with (Doris, I think), was very pleasent. She asked if I had used them for animal removal before, which I had not, and then she provided me with all the details of the comany, the service they provide, and pricing. The pricing was a little higher than I had seen advertised on another companies website, but I wasn't necessarily looking for the cheapest contractor in this situation. A&D was able to send a person out the same day, and they even worked with me to allow me to be home during the inspection. They told me they could do the inspection without my being home, even offering to use a ladder to get into the backyard as I told them there was no gate. I told them that I wanted to be there, and so they gave me a call about an hour ahead of arrival time, so that I had time to get home from work. Mike arrived at my house and immediately went to work. He walked the property ground-to-roof looking for possible animal entry points. After his inspection he told me that he found no entry or even attempted entry points, but he did find a racoon sleeping in a false chimney. Rather than just setting a trap he told me he would try to get a neck-noose on the raccon and pysically place it in the trap. He explainded that this is not always possible, but that he would try. He was successful! He had trapped the raccon, unharmed, and took it away for relocation. He then placed a second trap on my roof and baited it, just in case there was more than one raccoon. He told me that he would leave the trap for 6-days, and come by every 3 days to rebait, inspect, and/or remove. The following two visits were quick and minimally invasive. We were home during the 1st inspection, and only knew that someone came because we heard some footsteps on the roof. On the 6th day we found a card from A&D stating that they had removed the trap and it had been empty. I had given my credit card number for payment during my first, and only, call to A & D, and assumed they had charged me that same day. I later found out that they did not charge me for the service until the entire service period (6 days) was complete. We were very impressed with the service that A & D provided, and I would absolutely call them again to take care of any unwanted critter problem.
Description of Work: Inspected entire property (house and garage) for evidence of animal entrance or attempted entrance. Found, trapped and removed racoon from the property. Set and baited a second trap, and came back twice over a 6-day period to inspect trap and re-bait.

My experience with A & D Animal Control was great. Whenever I called the office, Judy promptly returned my calls and was very professional. She explained there were two different options to remove a skunk that had taken up residence in my backyard. The first option was to have A&D both set a live trap for the animal and relocate it and the second option was for my husband to trap it and A&D relocate. Judy said they always took the animal at least 5 miles away from the site and often it was 10 miles. I really appreciated the offer of simply the relocation portion of their service as my husband already had a live trap but we weren't really sure what to do with a skunk after capturing it. By asking A&D to only relocate it, we were able to save more than half of what the cost would have been for them to both trap and relocate. I called A&D back the morning my husband had trapped the skunk and they picked up the animal that day before noon, which was great because I was worried the skunk would get too warm trapped in the cage if he was left all day. They also returned my husband's live trap the next day. I had also inquired if there was any way to tell if it was a mama skunk because I didn't want to leave any babies alone to fend for themselves. Judy was very patient and explained they could try to tell if it was a nursing female or not (which would mean there were babies if it was) but Judy was very honest and said it was often hard to tell with skunks (for obvious reasons). However, after Chad picked up the skunk he left me a very nice message explaining he wasn't able to get close enough to tell the s** but he could tell that it was a baby. When I called the office back, Judy very patiently dealt with my concerns about now possibly removing a baby that couldn't survive from its mother by explaining that if the animal was out by itself and looking for solid food it was old enough to survive on its own. Overall, a great experience and we will use A&D again if the need arises.

They kept all of their appointments on time. I was always able to talk to someone to leave information or request more information. They were very responsive. My only regret was that they do not do repairs on large openings. Conseqently, if I ever suspect a large pest (example, raccoon) I would not hire them for the job.
Description of Work: Inspection of outside the home for animal entries, especially rooftop. Found 2 possible entries. Positioned traps on roof at both entry places (one small trap for squirrel and 1 large trap for raccoon). I was instructed to check traps daily for removal. Did not have to climb ladder. Traps were visible from ground level. When an animal was trapped and I called, they came out the next day to remove the animal. I did not have to be home for the removal. They always left notification of what they did and the next step. They only closed the the smaller opening. I had to hire someone else to close the larger opening. They do not repair all animal entries.

On the first visit, they went into my attic to see if obvious signs of animals (I had been hearing noises). They put peanut butter and seed pellets, that were not harmful, in the attic, to help determine what animal may be causing noises. They came back, a few days later, saw what was eaten, and determined it was mice. They looked under insulation and saw evidence of mice. They put pellets in attic that mice would eat, become very dehydrated, causing them to leave attic, in search of water, where they presumably would die. It did the trick. I very much wanted a company that would be humane to the animals (initially, I though the noises were from raccoons, and I did not want them hurt). The owner and woman I spoke to on the phone, as well as the techs who came to the house, repeatedly assured me they would be humane. One tech even showed me a mother raccoon and her babies, in the back of his truck. He assured me they would be relocated, TOGETHER, in a wooded area, far from their usual home. You could sense, from everyone's tone of voice and demeanor, that they truly strived to be as humane as possible. Both gentlemen that came out were personable, informative and efficient. They told me things I could do to minimize chance of recurrence of mice in attic. One of the techs caulked some holes, at no charge, which could be an entry point for critters. I was very impressed with this company and would use them again, if needed.
Description of Work: Investigated noises in attic and determined it was mice. They placed pellets in attic, and no more noises, after about a week.

After finding animal droppings in my basement, we tried to take care of the problem on our own - but after getting a disgusting odor in the basement, we called A&D. After looking at the droppings, Jeremy instantly knew it was a squirrel and with the scent - he knew it was dead. He found the squirrel and removed it - and then blocked the hole from the outside, so no more could get in. He was awesome!!! With the service call fee lasting 6 months, it was a great relief to know if we had problems that we could just call him back - I couldn't thank them enough!!!

Brian came out and placed a trap in the drop ceiling of the basement. We didn't know initially if it was mice, chipmunks, or squirrels. Within 24 hrs, the cage was rattling, letting me know there was an animal trapped. After I called, Brian was out to the house in a few hrs to remove the squirrel and set another trap. He also walked around the perimeter of the house, looking for signs of entry and placed some cardboard in suspected spots, to see if an animal was coming or going. In all, Brian was at the house 3 times and the situation was fully resolved.

Very efficient, very kind to the animals. He also did not charge for each of the little ones, just for mom and an extra critter as they were so small, which was really nice of him.
Description of Work: A raccoon had babies in our attic (got in through roof vent). They fell in between the walls and the mother was understandably upset. A&D sent tech out, who identified where the critters were. He trapped the mother first, using a live trap on our roof. Then he rescued each of the four little tiny ones, alive. Transported all and released. Very good job, and very humane.
