+ 2 moreOverall, we're very satisfied. They took the time to make sure everything was done right and that we were satisfied. With regard to each project: • Repairing the broken joist in the basement turned out great. They ended up “sistering” a new joist to the old one. It was planned well and when it came time, the job went quickly. • The quartz kitchen counter really turned out awesome. • They did a great job with the kitchen flooring, including leveling the sub-floor. • The can lights installed in the ceiling really brightened the kitchen. • We’re very pleased with how the kitchen back splash turned out. They made sure we had input in the detail of the tile placements and design.

New soffits had to be built, all new electrical in the kitchen, new floor throughout the living room/kitchen, installed new appliances, granite, new cabinets, new paint in LR/kitchen...then I added 5 new interior doors with moldings. No flinch, smooth as butter. They ordered the doors and installed within days. They spent 2 days going over at the end, detailing and fine tuning, making sure everything was just right. Paint nicks were fixed, any little thing I wanted corrected. James, Kenny and M. Harris were always concerned with did this meet expectation...can I help with anything, what can I help you with, bringing items from other rooms and basement. This is a whole new beautiful home! Good staff! Now good friends! And next year!! The rest of the rooms will get new floors and new paint as well!!

+ -1 moreWe had Northern Star out to our house to give us an estimate on a kitchen remodel. We were then told we needed to go to their showroom to pick out our options before we could get an estimate. So we went and spent an hour or so picking out cabinets, countertops, and backsplash tile. That was about a month ago and we still haven't received an estimate. We contacted the company several times, were told they would get back to us, but eventually we just stopped hearing back. We were very disappointed. Based on the reviews here as well as the prices many members listed, we had high hopes that this would be the company who could do what we wanted within our budget. Now we have to start over after spending time going to the showroom and picking out a pretty good-looking combination of materials. The staff was very pleasant but it did us no good because we did not hear back.
Description of Work: We were looking for bids on a full kitchen remodel.

Michael and his team were always willing to go the extra mile as well - helping fix the little things (gap behind my stove, bad switch in my dining room).

Description of Work: Removed existing kitchen cabinets and installed new cabinets, removed ceiling soffit between kitchen and dining area to create one large open ceiling, removed dropped ceiling tray frame, removed standard kitchen lights and installed 4 recessed lights, installed pendant light above sink, painted kitchen, dining, and formal dining room walls. Installed supply and drain lines, as well as electrical hardwiring for new dishwasher. Replaced existing backsplash with porcelain tiles, installed subfloor, luxury vinyl planks, and baseboards throughout foyer, bathroom, living room, formal dining room, dining, and kitchen.

Description of Work: I run a property management company, called Choice One Property Management. I have used Northern Star many times and I have been pleased with all attributes related to this company. Their professionalism, timeliness and knowledge of their business has been very helpful and has satisfied many of my clients as well as my company. The review everything they're going to do step by step and the review the project at hand before they start. They follow there step by step process and if there are any deviations from the process or any other items they found that they cannot see until they open up the wall the review that you with us or the tenant before they proceed. In fact many of times there are total price has been less than their estimate. They keep their work area as clean as possible they don't throw their tools around they do not use inappropriate language. When they're done for the day they clean up to prepare for the next day. Once they're done for the day and are all set to come back for the next day if applicable they walk either myself or an employee through the area to explain what they've done and what the next step is. In the past when it's been a kitchen job they've had it clean enough and things left out of our way so that either my tenants or others could actually use the kitchen if needed. This is a fantastic company well-rounded employees and they go above and beyond the customer service.
