Don’t make the same mistake I did—look for another contractor. I found MJM Restoration on Angie’s List based on good reviews, but they were misleading. I had termite damage on the front wall of my home requiring minimally drywall repair, and including a large picture window that needed replacing. Initially, communication was great, but it quickly declined. The project, which started around the Fourth of July, was plagued by poor communication. I shared my contact information for texts and emails, as I work during the day, and can’t always pick up the phone. Despite that, promises to call and schedule were frequently broken, and I often waited for appointments that were canceled or moved. Recently, one of these cancellations was for illness, which I understood. However, after confirming a visit for the same time tomorrow (8:30 AM), still no one showed the next morning. I reached out was told they were showing up at around 10am. My inquiry about the delay, and saying I could make 10am work though, received a dismissive “K.” (Included pictures) They showed up at 10:30 AM without any apology or even acknowledgement of the tardiness. This attitude was consistent throughout the project. The job turned out being smaller than anticipated. The window framing needed only 6 inches replaced on two corners, rather than a major rebuild. The drywall was to be removed and replaced 1 ft around the window, installation installed, but only needed two sections around the window replaced, and only a small piece of installation was required. When I asked if the bill would be adjusted since less work was needed, I was told the subcontractors charge by the day, regardless of hours worked, but I would think you’d have them do the full job/replacement then since you’re paying for it anyway. It seemed odd to pay them the same for 2 hours as for 8, but if that’s their policy, fine. They did give me a $200 material credit, which although I appreciated, it only amounted to a 4% discount on the total bill. All these would have been forgiven if the job turned out great but it didn’t. I will say the custom Anderson window is beautiful and the team that installed was stellar. They were very professional, explained everything they did, and were speedy. A different subcontractor came in to finish up the wall. The baseboards as you can see in the pictures had a huge gap once they were replaced. There was no gaps, cracking or separation of the baseboards prior to this. Recently had the hardwood floors done, along with baseboards/shoe molding replaced, so I know this. I brought this to their attention after day one, and it was told it would be fixed the next day. Their fix was to fill it with caulk and paint it, poorly I might add; lines not clean, dipping in the caulk as you can see. I get many baseboards have some gaps and need to be caulked but this gap was significant. Seeing as it wasn’t there before, and it directly in front of where they replaced the drywall, I am to assume it’s from the drywall installation. Additionally, there was also paint left on the light switch cover, tape and little plastic piece left stuck to the wall, and floor dusty when he left. It just seemed rushed, and not a professional job. When I inquired about this gap and its “remedy”, I was told it’s common practice. I asked for someone to come look at since it was severe. Someone did, I was told it’s the 2X4’s and the wall isn’t straight so they can’t fix the gap. They did offered to have the same sub back to clean up the lines and fill in the dips, after my prior experiences, I declined. Overall, I was disappointed with the professionalism and quality of work. The rushed finish and unresolved issues reflect poorly on the business quality. I expected better attention to detail and professionalism, and I won’t be using their services again, and would urge you to look elsewhere.

Ed and his crew did a fantastic job for my elderly mom. Came same day of call. Told us their plan for clean up. Worked efficiently. Came back twice to check progress. Left everything spotlessly clean. Mom very happy!

One year ago, I contacted Mike after experiencing water damage in a condo. Mike was in Florida, following the storms down there, but his team contacted me immediately, took care of the issue and was easy to work with during the remediation process. I appreciated the promptness and professionalism.

I hired Mike and his team after a supply line broke in my bathroom causing damage to our bathroom vanity, hardwood flooring, ceramic tile and drywall in our basement. After speaking with other contractors that did not follow up as I would have liked, I decided to hire MJM. From the beginning Mike was very responsive and remained so throughout the project. Mike was also great in working with my insurance company. His team came in and did a great job and really took a burden off my shoulders.

Overall, it went very well. It took longer than I originally anticipated, mostly due to waiting for insurance confirmation and additional work that ended up being done. The company was really great at scheduling with us at the odd times we required.

Great. The work looks fantastic and it was done in a timely fashion. MJM was easy to work with and communicated frequently. They also gave sensible opinions on several things that helped move the process along.

Mike was wonderful and thorough. We live out of state but were helping our young niece with a flooding problem in the basement of her house. Mike sent us pictures and a thorough assessment of what needed to be done. He completed the work in a timely manner and kept us well informed along the way. He was very professional and courteous to our niece and did a great job- we would highly recommend this company!

They came quickly, were very responsive, and were very professional. They also went he extra step of cleaning my carpet when there was a bit of a musty smell!

Everything went great! Mike laid out the steps of how things would be done and sure enough, it was done in a timely manner. Mike and his construction manager, Ed, were always accessible for our questions and always polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend them and would hire them again for any more work we need to be done.

My finished basement flooded and was not covered by insurance (tree roots!). After speaking with several of "the big names," I reached out to MJM based on their outstanding online reviews, and they did not disappoint. The owner answered the phone personally and was the only vendor to give me reasonable options based on the fact that it would all be out-of-pocket. His son & team showed up to assess the situation, recommend money-saving approaches to clean-up, and were very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Mike stopped by several times throughout the week to check on the equipment and test moisture levels. After a week I felt comfortable enough with him that I left the door unlocked while I was at work and told him to go right in! A good, honest company with good, honest people. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I was extremely happy with the work done each time. Mike was professional and did everything that was needed to get my basement clean and back to normal. I would hire them anytime, but really hope I don't have to!

Our family can not say enough great things about this company. They did excellent work. They provided us with a cost effective job and ways to prevent damage from flooding again. The work was completed on time and looks great.

The "basement contents" had already been relocated from the living room to the basement in April. We were awaiting the installation of the additional 6 missing tiles. Following a resolution with the owner/President of MJM, an agreement was reached that they would arrange for the stripping/waxing of the tiles for an added fee. In order to make the basement as bare a possible to prepare for the job, i paid for other parties to again move miscellaneous items/cabinets from the basement to the upper floor, MJM agreed to do the post remediation/renovation work on the unfinished tiles, in sections and used a dolly for the still-packed boxes, empty bookcases, etc. Ed of MJM and the tile workers hired by MJM did a very thorough, conscientious job of stripping and waxing the new commercial tiles. They were an absolute pleasure to work with, and they were taking particular attention and care to the task. The floor/tile workers had a high standard of care, caution, skill, and pride in their work. Anything can go awry in any situation: the difference is finding a meeting of the minds to ensure a mutual resolution is met. Thank you!

We found out our roof was leaking and needed replacement 4 days after my son was born and needless to say, it was an extremely inconvenient time to have such a major home improvement completed. We called a few places and Mike from MJM offered us the most assurance and was there the same day. He was so friendly and walked us through what needed to be done step-by-step. He was sensitive to our situation and worked very hard to coordinate as much as he could on his end, taking the stress off of us. In addition, he answered our phone calls and texts at all hours, no matter what the questions were. If it weren't for Mike, this situation would have been so much more stressful than it was. Mike was always on time and while we did run into a few minor issues with the contractors, Mike took care of each and every one. I'd recommend MJM to anyone, I really felt like they were on our side and not trying to work for the insurance company.

I contacted the company Mike referred me to and within a matter of just a few days, they were onsite assessing the problem. We now have answers and a plan to resolve the issues.

Came out for an estimate. He was very friendly and took his time to really understand what we want. Gave us a date to expect an estimate. Called before he arrived for his appointment and showed up on time. Customer service is alive and well with this company!

MJM is great! They work with you and always stay in touch. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!
