Description of Work: Cleaned dryer duct. Repaired dryer duct. Fixed minor gas leak. Duct was very long and had not been cleaned since the house was built in 1997. The duct was coming apart in places, plus there was a minor gas leak caused by the wrong fitting near the dryer. The duct cleaning was $100 (after a $50 discount, as the service was on special via Angie's List). The duct repair was $100 and the gas leak repair was $10. Total time for service call was about 1 hour, 45 minutes.

Description of Work: Their fireplace the serviceman (?) arrived on time and looking like he'd been working (very sooty!). The pupose of our service call was to have one of our gas fireplaces tuned-up. The serviceman took a look at the fireplace and reported that, because the fireplace's (gas) plumbing, fittings and fixtures were so old it would be wasting resources to do anything to the fireplace except rip-out and replace the the old gas system w/a new gas system. I, then asked the serviceman if he could clean the chimney flue of the fireplace in our basement (of our 3 story - minus basement - home) instead. He was perfectly agreeable to do so - that chimney flue, I am certain hadn't been swept in more than 30 years. After cleaning the chimney flue and was preparing to depart, the serviceman called to our attention our chimney cap (capping chimney-top outside - keeps small creatures from setting up housekeeping in the chimney) was missing. For an extra $80 and though unscheduled, the serviceman scaled our 3 storey roof and installed a new chimney cap. The serviceman was pleasant, efficient and instructional. Description of Work: I've used this company a couple of times before with no problems. They are super nice and responsive and usually do an excellent job, so I will likely use them again for general chimney work. However, I had to give a lower rating this time because when the tech cleaned the fireplace, somehow there was a malfunction(?) with the filter and my whole 1st floor was covered with dust. I didn't make a fuss because things happen and I figured I would just clean it up. Little did I know I would still be cleaning up after this mess 2 months later.

Description of Work: Ok - for the first scheduled visit, the technition showed up and did not have the materials he needed. So t took a half of day off of work needlessly. The second technition came was very friendly and was very careful not to leave any soot on the floor. I thought he did a nice job. A few days later we used our gass fireplace and it worked fine. But when we tried to start it the next day the pilot had gone out. The technition came out and relit the pilot. But now the pilot will not stay lit since we had the fireplace cleaned. The gas system is approx 15 years old and we are told we need a new one. Nonetheless the pilot light worked fine before we had the fireplace cleaned.

Description of Work: Problem was the gas fireplace going on unexpectedly. He explained the mechanics of all fireplaces in the house. Very knowledgeable and thorough; he took the time. He cleaned the logs and mechanisms. Carefully showed me what I had. Unfortunately, the problem fireplace is still going on without anyone putting it on.

Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Deal for chimney sweeping for $74.00. Within 24 hours the company contacted me to schedule the work and I was able to have them out within a week. The technician, Bill, arrived for the appt. a little early and did a nice job. We asked that in addition to the chimney cleaning and inspection, he give us an estimate for repair of a heat exchange system that is installed in the firebox. We recently moved into this home and were not familiar with this system. Bill really went out of his way to check out the heat exchanger, even making several phone calls to his boss to make sure the information he was giving us was accurate as he was also not familiar with this system. In the process of inspecting it he was able to adjust a fan that wasn't working and get it operational. He left the area clean and was very nice. We would recommend this company and we would use them again ourselves.
