Dr Sweep

I had a very complicated problem with a wood burning fireplace with gas starter and previous companies said I needed to run a new gas line and needed a new liner for over $3000. The owner John of the company came out for free, located where my gas line originated with the shut off valve (that 2 other companies could not find), called an inspector and did research, and informed me my existing gas line that goes under the slab will work but we should do a pressure test. He performed this analysis for free. I am hiring him to do a pressure test for $89 and if we go forward with converting our fireplace to gas logs, I will use this company. John is very knowledgeable and professional.

It worked well. They did a good job.

They came out and they determined there was no work to be done. I was refunded by Angie’s List.

Everything was fine and I had no issues. The scheduling was fine.

It was fine. The deal was as advertized, and they did a good job. There was a little question about what the special said, and what they did. It was fireplace related though.

Not good, worker was good but not enough of them. It caused late problems.

They did a very nice job. My fireplace looked like new. I had some trouble with the pilot light and now it works really well. They were very prompt. I have had them out since then to replace a chimney cap. I will use them again.

Didn't end up using the deal, I just had a family member do the work for me. No reflection on the company.

I was at work. My wife was at home and she said they were fine. The work turned out perfectly.

Connor was exceptionally courteous and professional. He said my chimney was safe and listed some things I could have done in the future. He didn't even mind my cat *helping*!

I wanted a company which was fully insured (workers comp as well as liability) which was not easy to find in the gutter-cleaning world. Dr Sweep cheerfully furnished me with proof of both before performing services. I called them back in November but they stopped doing roofs that late in the season.

Besides Dr Sweep, we have also asked two other companies to come and inspect our chimney. All three groups gave different comments. One of them suggested rebuilding the chimney for 6 thousand dollars! We talked to some knowledgeable friends and decided to go with Dr Sweep. The group that did the tile insulation and crack fixing was great. They were also very professional and courteous. We are happy with the results and have been enjoying the fireplace without any problem this winter.

We purchased this fireplace clean-out and start-up from Dr Sweep as an Angie's Special. The technicians were very nice and professional, as were the people that I spoke to in the office. However, I learned there is a glitch in the system of Angie's List with these Specials, where Angie's List automatically renews these Specials, without the service provider company knowing about the renewal. Angie's List subscribers then sign up for the Special through Angie's system, but Dr Sweep had no easy way of knowing that a subscriber has signed-up for the Special; the result was that we waited for a couple of months and never heard from the Dr Sweep, because they were unaware that I purchased the Special. I finally called Dr Sweep directly, rather than going through Angie's List and they immediately scheduled an appointment. In the future, I would go to the service providing company directly, rather than scheduling it through Angie's List, because of this glitch.

It was fine. It took them a 1/2 hour to do the gutter cleaning, and they picked up everything that fell off of the gutters.

After purchasing the deal, the provider stated it was too cold for the work to be done. It took awhile to get the provider out. Once they were out, they brought the wrong equipment and were unable to do the work. The provider stated that they would not be able to do the work this season and are not performing gutter work anymore. This has caused me to request a refund for the Big Deal.

Technician Bill was excellent...courteous and professional. The pilot light went out. He got the fireplace working again. Also, cleaned my fireplace glass (which he didn't have to do)...greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill for your assistance. I scheduled a tune up for my fireplace and requested Bill as the technician. I will definitely continue to utilize Dr. Sweep...thanks to all for delivering great customer service!!

They showed up on time. They provided the service that was requested. Aside from the extra stuff that I purchased from them, they did a pretty good job of cleaning. I thought they did a really good job. They were very responsive. We had scheduled a time, I think they had to reschedule but they did show up at the time that they said they would be there. To clean my gutters, I would use them.

Nathan was an excellent and courteous representative - the work was performed professionally and clean up was excellent. In fact, a few months after the service, we had them return as we smelled gas from the Key Valve (which we promptly turned off, of course) - they returned for free to investigate and provide us with guidance. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Would recommend to anyone and would use again for all future related issues.

They were very quick. He seem to respond to the appointment set up time pretty quickly. It seemed like a pretty reasonable amount of time.

The gas insert had additional issues that could not be fixed by the technician. No fault of his own just a classic example of you get what you pay for. I had to replace the insert at a later date and remove everything he did. If I knew that he could not get it lit, then I would not of had the service done.

Owner and receptionist were rude, short and gave the impression I was a bother to them. I was willing to pay the exact price they quoted for the exact work

Last winter our fireplace damper got stuck open and the gas logs wouldn't start. No matter how hard we tried we just couldn't get the damper closed. It made for a very cold polar vortex winter! I finally got around to calling around to a few places and decided on Dr. Sweep. They arrived right on time and got it closed right away. They were very friendly and professional. I will definitely call Dr. Sweep again when I decide to get my gas logs up and running again!

The service went very well. It was all positive. They are very courteous. I did not pay anything more than the $152 that I paid for the big deal.

It went disastrously bad at first but they made it right by sending somebody else out to do the work. So I would give them the highest rating for doing that but the first attempt was a failure. First it took me three weeks to schedule them to get them out, which was a long time and then they ended up rescheduling because they didn’t have anybody. The guy showed up after three weeks and when I went out to ask him something, I saw him leaving and he said he was all done, but it was just ten minutes of him up there. I looked up at the back of the house and asked him if he cleaned the gutters there and he said when he went up there it was clear and we had all these big trees up there, my husband had cleaned the front of it and had pulled out all the debris. So I knew it was no way it was clear right below the tree. I asked him again and he said it was clear and he did the whole house, it is a two storey house, in ten minutes. I asked him if he could go back up and push the spikes that held the gutters in, before he left. He just looked at me and said okay and asked me if I could hold the ladder for me and I thought that was very odd for somebody whose job it is to be up on the roof to be afraid to go up the ladder. I stood down the ladder for him when he went up and pushed the thing, he came back down, walked around the car and said, he will not be charging me for the quick service. I said that was not going to work because it was prepaid, I paid Angie’s List and his eyes got really big and he said good bye. I was thinking what could be done and the phone rang and it was his boss from Dr Sweep, she talked to me, she said he couldn’t do the service correctly, and said she was calling to apologize, and to reschedule. She said he found out he was afraid of heights. Dr Sweep is chimney cleaning and gutter cleaning and they hired somebody that was afraid of heights. That might have been his first call and he thought he could do it and he found out he couldn’t but he was honest enough to tell them that he didn’t do the work. So it was kind of black and white issue. It took another week and a half to get somebody out there and the guy that came climbed all over and did a fine job. I didn’t go up there but I knew he was up there doing the work. So they made it right but it shouldn’t have taken a month.

Provided what they said they would when they said they would. Just thought the price was a little high.
