UPDATE 3/6/2013: This is Jeff Turowski, one of the co-owners of Aladdin Heating & Cooling. Immediately after reading this member's review, I searched our company's computer database for his history. I searched by this customer's last name, his address, and the time frame that he gave for when we performed an installation... I found no record of this person being an Aladdin customer whatsoever. Moreover, I tried calling both numbers the member provided in order to talk with him about his review and there was no answer at either number, nor could I leave a message. As a result, I contacted his city to see if they had a record of us performing work at his stated address. They had no record of Aladdin Heating & Cooling ever performing a furnace and air conditioner installation at his stated address. In fact, they had a record of another heating and cooling company performing a furnace and air conditioner installation in 2005, Making it very unlikely that this member would have the need for another installation in 2010. At this point, I don't really know how I can further attempt to contact this "supposed" customer to speak with him about his review and resolve his issues, but I would like to note that I have contacted Angie's List and they are investigating this review because it is believed to be untruthful/fraudulent. I would also like to state that I, Jeff Turowski, am one of the owners of Aladdin Heating & Cooling and I am fully committed to making EVERY Aladdin customer a happy one... even this person, if he even is an Aladdin customer, which I am doubtful of. To this Angie's List Member and/or anyone else who has questions/concerns about this review, I can be reached directly by e-mail at Jeff@AladdinHeating.com UPDATE 3/12/2013: In a last ditch effort to contact this member, I reached out to the physical address provided by the Angie's List member to meet with the person living there, to see if we had ever actually installed equipment there, and to get to the bottom of this review. I discovered that the Angie's List member was posting his review of our company because of his secondhand dissatisfaction with a furnace and air conditioner at his parents house. I discovered that the member's parents spent a total of $5,125 with Aladdin Heating & Cooling, not $8,000 as stated. Aladdin performed the installation at his parents home over 8 years ago in 2005, not in 2010 as the member stated. The member's parents had Aladdin Heating & Cooling out to their home for preventative maintenance on their heating and cooling equipment EVERY year from 2005 through 2010. Each of these visits was punctual (at the time stated/scheduled by the member's parents) and each year that preventative maintenance was performed, the technician performed filter changes and normal tune-ups ONLY... no service/repair work at all. During each preventative maintenance visit, the furnace was "working normal at this time" according to our technicians and according to the paperwork that the member's parents signed and dated from 2005 through 2010. I have documentation signed and dated by the homeowner indicating this history to be true. Therefore, the member's statement that his parent's furnace has been problematic since day one is completely false. After personally talking with this Angie's List member, it is my understanding that the following events happened: At some point in the year 2010, the member's parents experienced their first problem with their new furnace, which was 5 years after the installation occurred and 3 years after their labor warranty expired. At this point, the member and/or his family DID NOT CALL ALADDIN Heating & Cooling. They called another company, who came out and convinced the member and/or his family that their problem was due to a failed circuit board, which the other company replaced. Shortly afterwards, the member's family experienced the same problem and this time the other company stated that their problem was due failed pressure switches, which they then replaced. Soon after this, ANOTHER problem with the pressure switches was experienced and this time the other company said that the pressure switches weren't working correctly because of a clogged pipe and that the pipe was clogged because the vent pipe was installed too close to the ground and it was sucking up dirt. This other company has supposedly come out on multiple events to continue to clean this piping and the pressure switches. Upon hearing this history of events, it became obvious to me that this customer was having an issue with his/her furnace and the other company had failed (on multiple events) to properly diagnose the issue with the furnace. Additionally, it seemed completely absurd to me that the other company wouldn't modify the piping that was "supposedly" too close to the ground and causing the pressure switches to become clogged. UPDATE 3/18/2013: I went to this member's parents home to meet with him personally and to look at the situation. The vent pipes were installed EXACTLY according to manufacturer recommendations and were NOT in any type of position where they could suck up dirt. In fact, they were approximately 12 inches above the grade. I explained to the member that even a vacuum cleaner would be unable to suck dirt off the ground from 12 inches above it. The Angie's List Member was still convinced that the pipe was blocked and needed to be replaced because of his discussions with another company. As a result, I cut and removed the entire intake piping system with the member present and showed him with a flashlight first-hand that the interior of the pipes were COMPLETELY clean and clear, as they should be (they looked brand new inside). In an effort to further impress him, I completely replaced his piping so that there would be NO QUESTION that the pipe is in good working order and is not blocked as was stated by another company. I chose to do this instead of re-installing the same piping, even though the existing pipe was perfectly fine. I further spent the time to properly diagnose the problem that he was experiencing and recommended the parts that needed to be replaced so that he doesn't have any future related problems. I DID NOT CHARGE HIM ANYTHING FOR MY TIME OR THE MATERIALS I USED even though I was there on 3/18/2013, which is more than 6 YEARS AFTER HIS WARRANTIES EXPIRED, 8 YEARS AFTER WE PERFORMED THE JOB. I explained to the member that we have NEVER, NOT ONCE, been called by his parents nor been notified that they had a problem with their furnace until his unfair review our company was posted on Angie's List. In fact, we were called by his parents to perform preventative maintenance and we did perform preventative maintenance at this home according to his parents desired schedule for 5 years (from 2005 to 2010) and during each visit the furnace was in good working order with no repairs needed or performed. I have documentation signed and dated by the homeowner indicating this history to be true. The member was unable to provide any receipt saying that he had any problems with the furnace between 2005 and 2010. This Angie's List member simply called another company who failed to properly diagnose a furnace issue and when the same problem reoccurred over and over, it APPEARED as though they were having issue after issue with their furnace. All the while, Aladdin Heating and Cooling was never even notified that there was an issue and this other company continued to blame Aladdin Heating and Cooling for the problems. I've asked the member to be responsible and remove his unfair review of our company and post a review talking about his experiences during my visit on 3/18/2013. He did not say outright that he would do this. I've added this information so that our potential customers can see my Company's Response to this member's concern and understand that we have done everything possible to help this person and there is nothing that we could have done to avoid this situation in the first place. I know of NO OTHER COMPANY that would go as far as I have to make this customer happy by coming out for free 8 years after an installation (6 years after their warranties expired), replace the entire intake piping system for free even when it was in good working order, and correctly diagnose the problems he has experienced (which another company has been unable to do) JUST to make the customer happy and address his concerns.
