After receiving quotes from multiple vendors, RoofRite (Paul) was by far the most professional and responsive. When quoting the job, he came ready with all the necessary information, references, copies of insurance certificate, details on costs. We used his packet of information as a benchmark for the other vendors to know what questions to ask them / gaps in the info others provided. We felt Paul gave us a competitive price and was able to complete the work quickly. The yard was well cleaned of any scraps / nails and the finished product looks great. His crew even hauled away some extra wood we had laying around the yard from a separate project which was really nice of them. We would definitely work with this group again.
Description of Work: Replaced roof and siding on our 2-car garage; put in roof vents, repaired some rotted wood.

They were very cooperative to work with. They were very helpful in our daughter’s house. It’s about 30 years old, maybe more. It never had new gutters put on it. The gutters were completely bad. The roof hasn’t been stripped, inspected and reroofed. The insulation in the attic was completely inadequate. They raised that to R49. They have a competitive price. We want them to come out and get the gutters down, do the roof and do the insulation but we wanted to paint which means we wanted to clean, fix and repair the entire faucet. They seem work. So we painted the whole exterior trim and they obliged us by waiting on the gutters until we could get that done so that all of that could have fresh paint on before the new gutters were installed. They did a nice job. I had one little issue. Our project manager came out. My concern was is that the drip edge that was sitting on the fascia board and the drip edge is supposed to sit out in front of the fascia board. I just can’t do that stuff anymore. I was concerned that they had lifted a roof panel to inspect inside and they hadn’t got it down tight. So I called them back to look at that but they straightened that up and they actually came back a second time with the job foreman who was on vacation when the project manager came to look at it, he brought him back out to make sure. So their follow up was good. They worked with us on timing and they didn’t expect payment until the job was fully completed. So they actually held off billing. When the day the gutters were finished, we called them up and pay them. They weren’t the cheapest but they were very competitive and very friendly. They were very concerned if they are doing a good job. They cleaned up very well when the job was completed. My daughter had 3 young boys. So we were concerned about nails and any other debris that could cut their feet or something like that. They were very good about all that. Their quality of work was above average. They did a very nice job. They put 6 feet of ice guard around instead of 3 feet. That was standard for them. Most of the gutters does 3 feet and they will charge you if you want more. They did the valleys between the draining very well. So the valleys are very well protected at this point. For me, that’s exceptional work. They followed up very well. They were here when they said they would be here. I would recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: I used Roof-Rite Roofing to do roofing and gutters. They also handled the addition of insulation in the attic. They put on leak guards as well.

From start to finish great job. Jim the owner stopped by every day to check the process, the crew was top notch, knew their stuff, and took pride in their work. Cleaned up better than it was even before they started. Took a drop longer than expected, but only due to rainy weather out of their control.

The completion of the work went as planned and I am happy with the overall cost, appearance, and quality of the roofing project. However, upon completion of the work I noticed areas on the rear of my house where shingles had come into contact with the siding on my house during the removal process and in one area left unsightly marks and even broke a hole through one of my vinyl shingles. I mentioned the concern to my site supervisor (Jeff Elliot) who was also the salesman for the roofing project. Due to the time of completion of the project he informed me he would follow up with me latter in the week. It has now been three phone calls later, three separate promises to return and take care of the problem, and two months after the installation, and Jeff has not gotten around to taking care of the problem. It appears to be one of those cases where once the money transaction has been completed the company is too busy to bother to keep the customer satisfied. It concerns me that if we do eventually run into issues with the roofing project how responsive the company will be to inspect and resolve the issue. I have patience, and understand that one can get busy with other projects, but taking care of the customer should go beyond the original job completion.

Met with Jeff at Roof Rite for an initial job estimate. Jeff was very through and proved plenty of details on what needed to be done. He recommended a particular type of shingle based on the pitch of my roof, and suggested that I instal metal valley to address the significant erosion I had endured on my previous roof. Jeff took the time to answer all of my questions, and was very open and fair when working with me on the final price. Overall he seemed to take extreme pride in his work, and took the extra steps to make a roof 'special'. The installation went smoothy and was completely finished in just 2 days. The roof and metal valleys look amazing. I'm very happy with the quality of service and installation that I received.

Day of the installation, there were 8 roofers working on removing the old roof and applying the new roof. Rain looked as though it was coming in but did not. On return from work, the new roof was in place. The landscaping was in good shape with very few remnants of old roof or staples/nails. A fuse was blown for the garage door workings (fuse box in basement is difficult to work). On the salesman's return, he corrected the fuse box problem and helped me reconnect the garage door. Name of a chimney repairman was given to me. He was prompt and did an excellent job.
Description of Work: The sales person was late to initial appointment - no explanation was given but a profuse apology. He gave estimate on the roofing job after walking the roof later on on the appointment date. He set date for installation and arrived before work started.

I had four estimates for my roof replacement with Roof-Rite being the 3rd one that came out to do an estimate. Chet was on time ,very professional and answered all of my questions. He spent 2 hours going through my options and taking measurements..When he did provide the estimate I was very happy with the price. The price was on the lower end of other estimates I received but considering the feedback Roof-Rite has received on Angies List and the quality of materials that were used in the estimate the decision to go with Roof-Rite was an easy one. After I called Chet back after a few days to let Him know I wanted to go forward with the roof replacement He quickly fit Me into their schedule and started within a week. The 6 man crew arrived on time and were also very professional and nice to deal with. Unfortuneatly, I had to work the day the roof was being done so I was not able to be there to see it being done. So Chet arranged to send me pictures throughout the day documenting their progress they made and any problems they found with the wood or flashing. They completed the job, did a very good job cleaning up and the roof looks great ! I would highly recommend Roof-Rite.

I was taken aback on the lack of professionalism. After I explained my concerns, the 2 men went up on the roof and started bouncing on the areas I pointed out that were of concern. Once they came down, I informned them that I had gotten a couple of estimates. They asked "how much". When I told them, they started saying negative things about the price and products that would be used for such a job. When I informed them that the other roofers had advised me to have no worries and to prepare for a new roof in a few years, they just laughed. I ended the services at that time.

Dear Ms. [member name removed], I am sorry about your experience with our estimators. As you can see from our ratings, with customer's who have chosen to do business with us, that we consistently get the highest ratings in the category for professionalism. Of course, every situation is different. In an effort to diagnose any problems with your wood deck our estimators will sometimes go up on the roof to determine if the boards are soft. It is also, very important to point out the differences in product quality and workmanship that may be quoted by other installers, so that a good comparison can be made. Most homeowners appreciate this. I am most regretful that this first impression, had resulted in your decision to end our services at that time. We have had several thousand happy customers since 1999.

There are a lot of other things I'd rather spend my money on than a new roof, but I guess that goes with the joy of being a homeowner. I had a complete tear off and gutter replacement done, and they completed the job about 15 minutes ago. Only a very good or very bad job would make someone write a review immediately after the job, and this one was very good. I had quotes from 5 different places and chose to go with Roof Rite because they seemed the most professional and Chet was willing to explain every step and answer every question. He gives a very nice presentation explaining everything and was great about keeping in contact and responding quickly. Their price was very fair as well, and thank you Angies List for the coupon! I was very very concerned about my landscape being damaged during the process because I have quite a collection going on where the shingles would have fallen. I was willing to relocate them out of the path of destruction, but Chet made sure his crew took everything from the tear off over to the side so there was not one plant casualty, and I really appreciate this because it saved me a lot of work. The crew worked really hard non stop and the job was finished in less than a day. (My house is a 950 sq ft ranch) The crew was very friendly and efficient, and I am glad I opted for the gutters because they look fantastic. Chet came by to check on the guys and to make sure I was happy and address any concerns I had. Its nice that the person that sells you the project is there on site to make sure you happy with the end result, and I am very happy. Thank you to Roof Rite and Chet and the crew, I would recommend you to anyone.

My roof had leaked and I had had it patched a couple of times but this past winter when I went into the attic I saw that it had frost in the attic and was starting to show signs of mold. I had a mold inspection done and he recommended remediation and improved ventilation in the attic. I called three roofers all recommended on Angies list. All said I needed a new roof and had different ways to improve the ventilaiton. I liked Jeff's idea of an edge vent and ridge vent as this would provide ventilation in the area's with no overhang and would not disrupt the siding on the overhang. He was also the most realistic about the amount of wood that would need to be replaced. I knew a lot of the roof would have to be replaced and he included that in his estimate, unlike the other quotes I received. Jeff's crew started first thing in the morning and took a day and a half. We ended up replacing all of the wood as it was apparant that none of it was salvageable once the shingles were removed. The crew did a professional job and thoroughly cleaned up the site. I am glad I went with the edge and ridge vent as it gives the roof a clean look. I would definitely use Jeff and Roof-Rite again, they were very responsive to my questions, worked with my schedule, and did a professional job.

We needed to replace our 15 year old roof, so we called Roof-Rite and two other companies for estimates. Roof-Rite had the best reviews and a very competitive price. We had a leak in the roof so our salesman/supervisor Joe arranged to fit us into the schedule very quickly. The crew showed up right on time and went to work quickly (They were a bit boisterous and loud on the first day but behaved much more professionally on the second day}. Overall, the crew was very conscientious, friendly and hard working. They did an excellent job of cleaning up. I found only 2 or 3 small pieces of shingle and about 9 roofing nails after they left ? much less than I would have expected. The job took about a day and a half to complete and, so far, we are very happy with the results. The only bad part to the whole experience was that the delivery truck from the shingle company (Lee Wholesale) cracked two squares of our driveway when they unloaded the roofing material. We mentioned this to Joe when he came to pick up our check about a week after the job was done. He said he would look into the matter for us and get back to us but we never heard from him after that. After waiting for several weeks, we called Lee Wholesale and they sent someone out to look at our driveway. He took photos and filled out a report and said he would get back to us. Again, we never heard from him or anyone at Lee Wholesale after that. That was about fve months ago. It looks like our reasonably priced roof is going to cost us considerably more when we have to replace part of our driveway in the near future!

I called a number of roofing companies after discovering water in my attic. Joe from Roof-Rite was the only one to spend time pointing out where the water was coming in but also that the poor ventilation was causing a condensation problem, he explained how he would remedy the problem and the cost. I thought the price was more then fair and his crew started the next week. They were able to finish the job in less then a week, under what I thought were very difficult winter days to being doing this kind of work. Due to the pounding installing the new boards, the dry wall in my upstairs bedroom received some hairline cracks and a few popped nails. I called Joe to explain the problem and was surprised to have a repair man call me within hours to set up a time to fix the problem. It has been two years since Roof-Rite installed my new roof and there is no problems with the roof and no condensation problems either. Joe and Roof-Rite is an example of how a company should operate. They have quality people and they do quality work. I would highly recommend the company.

We selected Roof-Rite to give us an estimate on a total roof replacement based on reviews from Angie's List. This company lived up to all of the positive comments made by previous customers. Chet met with us and described the company and the installation process. He provided an estimate and reviewed how he arrived at the figure. We had received estimates from a number of different companies (11 total), and Roof-Rite's price was reasonable and fair. Following are reasons we highly recommend Roof-Rite: (1) All calls were returned promptly (usually within an hour or so). If Chet said he was going to check on something and get back with us, he did just that. We never had to leave numerous messages. Weather and previous jobs had to be considered when setting our start date. Chet kept us updated--again no repeated calls to ask when they were coming. (2) Steve was in charge of the crew who replaced the roof. He was, as were all the men, friendly, polite, professional, and skilled. The men arrived on time each morning, worked consistently all day, with a short lunch break, and left a little after 5:00. This was a 2 1/2 day job, and each night they left their equipment neatly stored by the dumpster and trailer. The yard, deck and driveway were all cleaned up as they worked--no big messes to look at. (3) Chet monitored the work progress and checked in with us to make sure that we were satisfied with everything. (4) The crew cleaned up everything when the job was done. No days of raking and getting trash out of the trees for us to deal with. (5) The materials were delivered when Chet said they would be here. The dumpster and roof-top delivery of the shingles took place the day before the work crew arrived. Everything was in place and ready to go. (4) Just as he said, Chet came to do a final walk-around a short time after the crew finished. The dumpster was picked up a couple of hours later. (5) The price was fair, and we were able to use an Angie's List coupon. From beginning to end, it was a pleasure dealing with Roof-Rite. And most importantly, our new roof looks fantastic. In fact, two neighbors asked us to have Chet stop by and talk to them about replacing their roofs. Honest, friendly, capable, professional people. Wonderful experience

Had quite a few problems. After roof was finished there was tar on several shingles. Had to complain a couple times to have it fixed. There is a flat roof portion of my roof that was done and there are 2 low spots on it and have called and emailed several times and they do not respond. Had new gutters installed and wanted the downspouts to be professionally directed away from the sidewalk for safety reasons. The gutter guys hired by roof-rite had no idea what to do with the downspouts so I said just put them wherever rather than deal with another headache. Worker left a caulk gun on top of my roof and had to call them twice to get it down. I went in my attic after they left and they had thrown a bunch of old shingles and wood (this was a complete tear-off) inside the attic area. I was later told by several people that Roof-rite gave me bad advice telling me electric vents where the way to go. The attic would have been adequately ventilated with regular can vents which would not have been visible and not cost me the expense of hiring an electrician to hook up plus the increase on the electric bill for the next 20 years. For $15,000 I expect a A-1 job but don't feel I got what I paid for. Lastly, one of the workers promised to do a side job for my father, did part of the job, then refused to answer our phone calls to complete the job. Update 2/6/2013: I Hired Roof-Rite because they had good reviews but they sub-contracted a company to install my gutters. Well the new gutters leak and these clowns put the downspouts right on the sidewalk. Now when the snow on the roof melts, it collects at the bottom of the gutter right on the sidewalk then freezes at night making an ice rink to walk on. These guys are horrible and I regret hiring them. Update 2/27/13: Response to Roof-Rite?s Review: I have a written contract signed by Roof-Rite to place the gutters under the sidewalks so ice does not accumulate on walkways where tenants will be walking. The gutter guy Roof-Rite subcontracted to install my gutters said he had NEVER installed an underground gutter system and had NO idea how to do it. That?s why I said to put them wherever as I did not have time to argue with him and I decided I would deal with the issue at a later date. Now, they want to send the SAME gut out to fix the gutters who does not know how to do it. Also, the gutters leak and are improperly pitched and leak right in front of one of the tenant?s porches, which creates an icy spot where they walk. The ?can? roof vents were the original ones Joe said should be used so they can and should have been used. As professionals, you could have and should have told me the canned vents were by FAR the best option and would have saved me a considerable amount of money. Here are a few other problems I had with Roof-Rite: 1. The siding against the front of the house was not sealed with the new flashing and had to complain to get it fixed. 2. They said it would take 2 days but took a week to finish.3 3. They said they would not hire subcontractors but they contracted a gutter company who did the gutters. 4. There is a bunch of debris that was left in my attic from the roof tear-off. 5. I had to call and complain to get them to remove the dumpster they left on my property 3 days after the job was done. 6. I had a brand new dog leash in the backyard that was stolen. This company completely lacks any sense of integrity or pride in their work. Very disappointed.

Response from Roof-Rite Inc
I would like to address your review. You mentioned that once we completed the roof there was some tar on several of the shingles. This can happen when installing shingles in very warm weather. The asphalt becomes soft from the heat and on occasion they can get scuffed by the installers working on the surface. It is unfortunate when this happens, however we did replace those shingles. We agreed to replace the rolled roof product on your flat roof section. After the completion, you mentioned two low spots. Changing the structural pitch of your roof was not in our scope of work. I understand that the gutter downspouts were not installed in the location that you had requested, however, instead of explaining it to our installation professional or calling our office, you instructed him to install them “Wherever”. Our installers left a caulk gun on your roof. After making us aware of it, we called them to pick it up. The crew had been assigned to another job a distance away and it was a couple of days before they could get back to get it. We appreciate you letting us know about tools that were left behind. It is very important to set the expectations of the job. Every job is slightly different. Your roof was a Cedar Shake complete deck tear off. The old Cedar roofs have roof boards with gaps between each board to allow the shake shingles to breathe. When tearing off this type of roof, quite a bit of debris can fall through the gaps into the attic. I am sorry if you were not made aware of this before the project start. Your attic ventilation is very important to us. Sometimes there is not enough room to install enough static can vents. Which would be visible from the ground. When we run into this challenge we have to offer our customers the best options to meet code and provide the most ventilation possible. The power vent allows for the most exhaust ventilation. The vent only comes on when the heat or the humidity reaches a certain level. The electrical cost of this product is minimal. The benefits of this product highly out weigh the cost of replacing your roof early due to deterioration from poor ventilation. Lastly, we do not encourage our customers to hire our employees without going through our company. We can not be responsible for any agreements made between any individual that was not authorized by our company.
