Services we offer
We offer residential and commercial asphalt roofing projects in the South East Michigan territory. Along with a roof project we can install gutters, insulation and skylights.
I got quotes from a couple of different companies. They both said the same in their assessment of what the issue was and what needed to be done. They quoted within $80 of each other. I decided to go with Roof-Rite based on the fact they could start the work earlier. They arrived early morning of the agreed date and completed the work in two days and on time. The crew of workers worked very hard, were polite and professional. The clean-up was exceptional. I would thoroughly recommend this company.

This company overestimated on the square footage of my roof. They said it was 5700 sq. ft. and it was really 5200 sq. ft. They refused to give me a 5200 sq. ft estimate. Their estimate came in exactly $3280 above what the company I went with. To this day i'm scratching my head why this company was so stubborn not coming down on the square footage. If they came down to 5200 sq. ft. the bill would've been lower. I go with honest contractors not ones where the most important thing is to seperate ppl from their money. I mean that's a red flag overcharging me on the square footage. What if I went with these guys and midway through the job they make up something that's broken that's only a little shabby and then be like "oh well we won't put our name on this job if you don't fix that. We won't finish the job if you don't fix that. And by the way that'll be 200 extra bucks to fix it." I'm just giving a scenario that scares the h*** out of me when selecting contractors.

I understand your fears of hiring a contractor. Many people have had bad experiences with contractors and that reputation precedes us. It is unfortunate. Every contractor makes a mistake from time to time in the estimate of the cost of a job. If they under estimate, they lose money. If they do this regularly they will go out of business. If your job happened to be one that lost money and you have a problem next year, the company may not be in business anymore, and unable to address your warranty issues. Your speculations in regard to our company seem unwarranted. We have won Angie's List " Super Service Award" 3 years in a row and we have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau. This type of recognition is not gained by the actions of a company you describe above.

These guys where great. I was extremely pleased with there estimate. Not only where they the lowest estimate but we felt most comfortable with them working at our home. They went the extra mile to earn our business. They were able to start less than a week after we agreed to have the work done. THey were extremely flexible and allowed me to us there dump trailer to get rid of some big items and the remnants of my deck that I tore down. The work was done fast and generally very skillfully. I was very comfortable with the crew that worked at my house, they seemed to be guys that you could have a beer with. I was also pleased as the salesman that I dealt with routinely visited while the work was being done (3 days). Once the old shingles were removed we discovered several issues with rotted plywood and soffits. All rotted plywood was detected during the initial inspection and therefore there was no surprise expense ( at $40 a sheet it can add up quick). The crew repaired the soffits were repaired with the care and thoroughness that you would expect if they were working on there own house. Soffit repairs did result in additional expense however they did the work first and I was ASKED after the job was complete if I would compensate them as the repairs went above the estimate. We are very satisfied with the work that was done at our house we had two minor issues that I have communicated to Roof-Rite. I am 100% sure that these will be productively resolved.
Description of Work: Roof Rite did a complete tear off and replacement of my roof and gutters. My roof is 52 squares total so it was a larger job. In addition we had a large low pitch area of our roof that needed specialized product beyond a normal shingle.

I called Roof-Rite for a second opinion and estimate for a new roof after another roofer told me that we needed to replace our entire roof when I I had them out to look at a leak. The serviceman was exactly on time and was very thorough in his review of the roof. His quote came in 16% lower than the first quote and he uses a much better quality shingle. He then told me that we don't need a new roof and that our existing roof is in fine shape, that the waviness in some areas has to do with the thickness of the wood used underneath (not due to rot), and that all that needed to be done is replace the boot around the vents. I really appreciated that he wasn't trying to sell me a roof we don't need! And I'm really happy to find that the repair is so much cost so much less than I was anticipating! I'm so glad that I got a second opinion....lesson learned BEFORE we spent the big money....always get a second opinion!!!

This is the second time I have used this company; once on a house I was renovating and this time on my own house. Both times, Pam came to our home and explained everything that would be done and all that was involved. She showed us samples and answered all of our questions. She brought a contract and proof of insurance, which is something many companies don't have. Both times, the team of roofers came when they said they would. They worked steadily and were done in a few days. They were polite, professional and cleaned up the mess after they were done. We had upgraded to a better and more decorative shingle and the price was well below what we had expected it to be. It was a great experience and I would definitely use them again.

Compared quotes from 3 companies and Roof-Rite was the lowest for our house at the time. Pam was our Sales Consultant. She explained in detail the process of the work and all options available. The roof tear off and replacement was done very efficiently. At final inspection, we noticed some left over debris in some gutters and some nail heads still visible, and some workers came by to correct the situation within a day. One year later (in 2011), we had some water leak into our ceiling and at first I thought it was from a roof joint. I contacted Pam, workers came by within a few days, and it turned out to be some wood rot on the siding just near the roof that was allowing wter to trickle behind the roof. We had the wood rot repaired, and still no issues with the roof!

Joe was our contact. He provided the estimate and followed up after the job was complete. The estimate was reasonable ... in the middle of the three estimates we received. The crew was efficient, respectful, and very competent. They did a very good job on the roof, as well as on the clean up. The recommendations for our somewhat complicated roof were great, and the results look fantastic. There was one minor issue that was resolved basically without discussion. We mentioned it to Joe, and he did not hesitate to assure us that it would be addressed. They took care of the issue promptly without additional charge. We couldn't be more pleased with the experience and the workmanship. We definitely and unreservedly recommend Roof-Rite.

Called company, got a voice message. Went onto their web site and filled out the contact form in its entirety, asking about repair work. Never heard from them. This was the 2nd of 2 contractors off Angie's List that I contacted with the same outcome. re: Company response. If you actually use google maps and map the directions from your office in Walled Lake to the Ray Mi location you would see that it is 46.2 miles via M-59 with an estimated drive time of approx 1 hr. Seems like this might reasonably be within a service area, or at lease trigger a response of "Sorry, not in our service area". Your inability to accomplish this simple task, and your condescending response explains much.

The salesmen arrived, inspected and measured the roof then they gave me a price. They explained the process and materials. They were very thorough. There was no pressure to agree. I signed because it was less than other bids. This was Friday afternoon. On Saturday the shingles were delivered. Monday at about 9:00 am the crews arrived, set up and began the tear off. THe crews worked from back to front. They installed ice shield and high end paper. They used metal in the valleys and all new drip edge. They replaced the shilding around all of the vents and even added soem flashing where the previous roof people had left it off. The shingles were high end (not 3 tab). The complete look is awesome. The cleanup went well and they were done by Tuesday afternoon.

I wasn’t too happy with them. As far as the people that were working were concerned, it was fine. There were just other problems that went on that were not related to the workers themselves, so I don’t know how to rate them. When they delivered the shingles, they drove upon the lawn leaving deep indentations on my lawn plus they broke some of my cement patio. I would not use them again in the future.

Although we enjoy higher ratings with both Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau, sometimes things still go wrong. It is how the issues are addressed and resolved that is important to most home owners. Our distributor did damage some patio pavers when they dropped off the shingles. We offered to replace the damaged tiles, but the homeowner did not want to do that, instead he accepted a monetary amount, because he wanted to change the entire patio the following Spring. The truck also caused a slight indentation in the easement, which should return by next spring. This was the rainiest year on record. When the lawns are wet, this can happen very easily.

Obtained an estimate in October from several contractors. They scheduled me in within a few weeks of my acceptance of their proposal. Job was completed as scheduled with no problems. End price was very fair as the contractor had to replace a lot of wood. Bottom line is that this is the only company that even called back for estimates or when I had questions.

I called early part of the week for an estimate on a tear off job. I indicated that due tho the number of contractors I had coming to the new house, that I needed for them to do the estimate on the upcoming Friday. I was told that somone would call Thursday..no one called. On Friday when I was leaving to go home I received a call at 4 PM wondering when I wanted to set up an appt. I explained that I needed them there during the day on Friday . The person on the phone then began to tell me his personal problems (which I do not care about!) as an excuse and did not seem to care that he was 1) calling late 2) That he had no shot at the job.... it was just Oh well, allrighty then! But oh well, why would I let a company put on a roof that cannot even manage an appt...... I wouldn't!

It is unfortunate that we were not able to meet this customers demands for a next day appointment. Upon accepting the bid, work was performed the next day. They estimated to complete the work in one day but had to take an extra half day because the company that delivers the shingles would not place them on the roof due to utility wire intererence. So, they had to carry all the shingles up by hand which slowed them up somewhat. The crew was professional and and did a superb job of maintaining cleanup through out the day. The forman was very professional and responded professionally to all my concerns. I would definately recommend Roof rite to future customers.
Description of Work: I Roof rite re roofed my home after receiving bids from 3 companies through Angie's list. I experienced a pretty severe leak a week prior to the job completion. I joined angie's list just to find a roofing company because I new nothing about roofing and did not want to make a very expensive mistake, It was worth it. I planed to get three estimates, ROOF-RITE was the first, they responded to my voice mail within two hours and came that evening or maybe the next to give me an estimate. The second company did not return my voice mail until the next day and took another two days for the estimate, the third never returned my call. Pam Brown (an owner I believe) came to give me the estimate, very nice person and spent better then an hour working up the estimate telling me exactly what they would do and showing me the products that they would use. I decided after the second estimate who said they would do the job the exact same way but were much, much more expensive to go with roof-rite. We set a date for them to do the job within a few days. That morning they did not show but Pam soon called and said they did not quite finish a job from the day before and would be there about noon, which they were. Rain was predicted for that day so they only tore the shingles off the garage, they could finish that in one day keeping the house roof intact. Steve was the crew boss for the four man crew, great bunch of guys. Did a fantastic job and worked there butts off. The job took two days and about fifteen hours in all. Steve and Dave were the two main shinglers, one guy unwrapped, separated and feed them the shingles and the other was mainly in charge of getting them whatever they needed and picking up the old shingles and all around cleanup. The three skylights had to be custom fit by Steve and the brown flashing did not look good with the charcoal shingles, when they went to lunch, (only about 35 mins.) Dave came back with dark gray paint to match the flashing to the skylight frame. Perfect! Just before they left I noticed a tear from some of the old shingles in the screen of one doorwall. I told Steve and he said no problem they had screen in their trailer. There was not enough, they ran to a local store and bought a roll, fixed the screen. I was home and watched the entire job from start to finish. I feel I got a great job at a good price, the roof looks great, cleanup in the gutters and around the house great and I would recommend roof-rite and this crew to anyone.
Description of Work: I had a complete tearoff of the old shingles (one layer) on my 1997 built 1800 Sq. Ft. modular home and attached three car garage. I had IKO architectural shingles installed, three plastic bubble skylights replaced with tempered glass skylights, a sheet of OSB replaced around one of the skylights because of root and a new powered exhaust fan which I purchased installed on the garage to replace a burned out one. They also put on all new flashing, drip edge and a new hood on the roof for the exhaust fan over my stove.

Joe came out and gave us an estimate for the roofing project. Initially we didn't request the roof vent or fan in the garage but on Joe's suggestion we added those to our project as well. The team project was expected to take two days to complete but ended up taking 2.5 days due to rain.. The team worked diligently through the day with minimal breaks. It rained on the first day and the guys made sure to cover everything up so the rain didn't cause any damage. They found additional boards on the house that needed replacing and didn't charge us any extra for replacing them. They cleaned up after themselves, no remaining debris. Everything went very well and I would definitely recommend them to my friends.

Jim Brown, the owner came out for the quote about 2 weeks before we made our decision to use Roof Rite. He was professional, courteous, and friendly. His presentation was the most impressive and thourough of the 4 different quotes we had; he ws alson the cheapest of the 4 quotes. We used him not because he was the cheapest but because we liked him personally better than the other salespeople and because of his high ratings on Angie's List. All the positive reviews of his company, Roof Rite, are 100% correct and I would highly recommend him. The crew showed up around 7am and did not stop working until 8pm when they were all done with the entire roof. Steve was the crew leader and was courteous and listened to my concerns and even spray painted our old rusty chimney cap for no extra charge which now looks like new. The clean up was impeccable which was very important to my wife and I considering we have a 20 month old and 2 small dogs who can easily step on sharp objects like nails and tin shards, etc. Jim is an honerable man who keeps his word, you should use him.

After a couple of days of now response, I received call back e and was told I'd be contacted next day to schedule estimate. Perhaps only responds well if someone reveals they're Angie's members upfront as I did not do.
