SUPERIOR SCAPE INC

I submitted a request for an estimate through Angie's List to Superior. I got an email from Angie's list acknowledging my request had been sent to Superior. I never was contacted by Superior Scape.

We love our new front yard. Terry did a great job and provided a lot of service. The also did an excellent job re-grading the brick work around the house and putting in porch stairs.

Shannon did a wonderful job of designing our vision for a front walkway, some landscaping around the perimeter of our home, a patio and a garden in the back yard. Gerry and his crew executed the design to perfection. While we have chosen to delay construction of the patio and most of the planting until next spring, we are confident that the balance of the work will be as beautiful as the work that has been completed thus far. I highly recommend Superior Scape to anyone!

Brendan came out and gave estimates for each house of $500+ each. He sent quotes and asked for 10% down. I did not send the 10%, my fault. I thought I had sent the deposit. I did not get an email reminding about the 10%, even though I told Brendan I wanted to go through with the 2 jobs. I wrote him requesting the work to be done and he was booked for the year. I had no place in line because I did not send him the deposit. My fault on not mailing the check. Just wish I would have received an email reminder.

I received a prompt reply to my inquiry. Price was fair. The workers did an Excellent job. They did what I asked. They cleaned up after themselves. Would hire again.

Excellent. Terry was very prompt to schedule a visit to provide the cost estimate. He listened well and suggested alternatives, but indicated that our initial choice of staying with timber was sound and in harmony with our landscape. The cost estimate was prompt and fair. The job was scheduled and started on time. The crew chief Jerry and his men did a wonderful job over two full days. I greatly appreciated Jerry's care and attention to landscaping design and implementation. His customer friendliness in terms of explaining design plans and changes, readiness to listen, and his work ethic spoke loudly of the high standard that Superior Scape sets.

It went very well from the beginning. Jim provided us with a beautiful design in color, took time to explain the design in person and worked with us to make changes as we desired. The work was completed in 4 days and the crew led by Jerry was awesome. Both Jim and Jerry were professional through out the job and we are very happy with the work. Would definitely hire them again.

Crew arrived on time and we were very pleased with the work completed as well as the outcome. Would recommend!!

Waited for an estimate and have not heard back.

Terry's design made it not only functional but incredibly enjoyable. His idea to sink the hot tub so we can see the lake was awesome. Furthermore, Jerry and his crew were professional and great to have on sight working each day. Even the neighbors commented on how hard they worked and how clean they were. Most importantly Superior Scape was professional from beginning to end. They were very clear on what would be done and patiently answered all our questions. Throughout the process they also answered questions and met all our requests with courtesy/personal touch. Finally, the end result was exactly as planned and on budget. There were no surprises. What else could you ask for. I recommend them highly!

Superior Scape was awesome from start to finish. They spent a good deal of time with us on design, but adjusted well amidst several complications which arose due to the aspects of the job that were being handled by other contractors. I have referred them to others who have thanked me after their work has been done by Superior.

Design and Vendor Selection Jim was very thorough and flexible with us during the design phase. Other vendors provided half-hearted water color drawings that were not inspiring nor clear. The Superior Scape team not only provided a good quality drawing, but worked creatively to propose solutions for some areas of concern (e.g. How to try to hide an air conditioner, How to work with a confined space where our back exit door was). We took a number of scope elements out of the design that were less important to us and that we felt could be done later or were lower priority. Jim was flexible with us when we decided to add sod and sprinkling system to the scope because our builder was not trustworthy to complete those tasks. Job Scheduling and Coordination Jim provided us with an estimated start date about 5-6 weeks before the job was to start, and they were pretty accurate with this. In fact they called us about 1-2 days early and asked if they could start then. Unfortunately our builder had outstanding issues with the township that precluded this work from beginning right away. Jim worked with us to figure out when work could start, and we were very appreciative for this. Installation Bob was the foreman of the team and did a tremendous job. The crew was always working hard, they picked up each day, they were courteous when neighbors had questions, and they did the work as if it were their own home. When we had any feedback or comments, Bob was very responsive and open to this. When there were questions where he needed our opinion, he presented the options succinctly. He pointed out in a few cases where they would have to use more material than the initial estimate, and the reasons for it. He was flexible in working with us when we decided to extend the dimensions of the patio relative to our previously scoped drawing. After an utterly terrible experience and relationship with our builder, the interactions with the Superior Scape team were a breath of fresh air. We had several neighbors complain about noise and dust during the installation, which was not really fully fair to the Superior Scape team. Bob went out of his way to have friendly discussions with said neighbors to let them know his team was making sure to clean each day and finish the job as quickly as possible to minimize noise to the surrounding community. Another team (Steve & Elmer's) installed the sprinkling system, and they worked closely with Bob's team. The two teams have worked together for a long time and it was a seamless coordination. Quality and Follow-Up We are quite pleased with the workmanship and appearance of the work that was done. We noticed during the installation of the landscaping that a few bushes were missing from our quote. When we asked Bob about it, he mentioned the plants were known to be missing and their team was looking to secure them (they were in high demand) - and they were installed prior to the end of the job. We will probably reach out to the sprinkling team and have them revise some of the angles of rotation for individual heads, because they over-rotate and get too much into the street, or neighbor's property, etc. The quality of the work on the sprinklers seems very good Price and Value We had a large scope job and we accordingly expected it to be a big investment. The Superior Scape quote was not the highest nor the lowest quote we received. They did what they said they were going to and I have already received multiple neighbors coming to look at our property to ask for referrals to Superior Scape. They earned their money here and we are really satisfied with their work. We were charged higher than the initial quote for the following areas 1/ Added square footage of patio. This was because we changed our minds and extended the design at the start of installation. 2/ Added length of piping to extend gutters into the ground. This was a minor disappointment in the sense that I felt they might have known about what was needed during the initial estimate. 3/ Added amount of topsoil needed vs. previous estimate. Our property was pretty dry and there had been known grading issues with our builder, so we knew in the original quote (per our ask) that we wanted topsoil added before we added sod. The added topsoil needed in the final bill, accordingly, did not shock me, although it was more than I had hoped would be needed. I would recommend this company to someone who is willing to pay a good price for high quality work.

For the past month I have been trying to hire a landscape contractor to install sod, an inground sprinkler system and retaining walls in my front and side yards. I met with 3 other contractors who either missed scheduled appointments and/or never followed thru on providing estimates. When I first spoke with Gus I told him of the issues I was having and he assured me Superior Scape was not a company that trested customers in this way. I had found this company on the HandyMans web site and thought for sure if he recommended a company they must be great. Gus did show up for our appointment on the right day on on time but he failed to bring his measuring wheel with him so he could not provide an estimate but promised he would return the following week to take measurements. It is three weeks later and he has not called or provided with me with an estimate. I called the office and left a message for him but again no return call. I certainly understand all landscape contractor are very busy this time of the year but to treat potential customers in this way is so sad. What has happened to Customer Service.

This Company did an excellent job from the quote to completing the work. I received a quote on June 6th and was told they would do the job on July 14. A few days before the 14th they called and said they would be at my house as scheduled. This was unbelievable that a company dependent on weather conditions and a busy schedule can do exactly what they told me. You cannot go wrong with this Company. I recently referred Superior Scape to a golfing buddy and he was equally impressed. I apologize for not doing this review in July but I thought I had done so. P.S. They also did some last minute paver brick repair which was not scheduled.

Job went well and had no problems at the time of the work. After the winter three of the bushes had died and they came and replaced them.

You never know what you are going to get when contractors show up at your home, especially for a weeks worth of work. We couldn't have been happier to have Bob, Mike, and crew at our home. We never heard them, except for when they were running the saw, and only caught them breaking for lunch a few minutes each day. We are easy customers and when we saw things being done slightly different than we expected, Bob and I would have a quick conversation. Some things were changed on the fly while others were left as originally planned. The guys showed up between 8:00am and 9:00am each day and always worked until the early evening when the sun started going down. Other than the day they left early for the company picnic, we never felt like they were 'watching the clock' for the end of the day. They always finished at a logical breaking point each day. A couple weeks later, after we received our final bill, I notified Steve that a brick on one of the steps came loose. He offered to write up a work order and send someone out right away, but at my suggestion we agreed to wait until spring. That way, any landscaping that does not survive the winter can be addressed at the same time as the brick repair. Sadly, our patio is closed down for the season and we have not enjoyed it as envisioned. That will have to wait until next year. We did run into our neighbors after the job was done and they enjoy looking out their bedroom window now that the landscaping is complete.

Worked with Jim Babcock to design a redeux of our front yard by ripping out old bushes and paver walk and installing new landscaping, brickwork and lighting. The process was great - Jim really took the time to understand what we wanted in the design and worked with out budget. The installation was great - they were here the day the said they would be and finished when they said they would. We did have an issue with a draintile that was crushed, but once we figured out the problem, they quickly fixed it. Put them a little lower on price as they were not the cheapest quote we got, but were glad we went with them. We really like the work they did and were easy to work with. Really good experience.

From the design of the project to the actual implementation every step was professionally handled. Kurt ,Bob and the entire team delivered the results above what was promised. There was very little disruption over the entire 2 weeks. The team made sure that everything was communicated effectively and implemented properly. I have had a great deal of work done on our home over the years and I would rate the team at Superior Scape one of the best contractors we have used. I would recommend them highly .

Great. It took a week. They always showed up.

I usually have to call them back to fix something that they did last time. They broke a sprinkler head when clearing snow, and ripped up some of my sod. However, they are always quick to fix their mistake and have the best prices.

Everything went nicely. Kurt even called recently to check on any future needs. He also offered to take care of repairing the sidewalk that shifted during winter.

The design/sales consultant came out in early June and came up with a plan for our yard. They came out in late July to do the work. The foreman of the work crew said that some of the projects were not feasible, and we had to change the plan on the fly. The middle of August we informed the design consultant that five of the new plants had died, and he said to water them in hopes that they would revive. They did not revive, and we inform him of this by phone. He was not happy, as it was written in the contract that they would replace dead landscaping. He said that they would replace the plants, but it was late in the season so he said they might not be able to get all of the varieties. After nothing happened for several weeks, we called again and he said they would be out to replace the plants. After several more weeks (end of September) we called again and left a message. He did not call back, but the next day (October 1) a crew showed up and they replaced the plants. We are happy with the design and the way the land scape beds turned out, but are downgrading our rating because of the numerous phone calls and long wait to get them to replace the plants.
