Description of Work: Ron's Old Time Antennae Service installed a TV antennae on our roof, as we "cut the cable" to pay TV. He had good advice, did a pro job with just the right level of antennae that we needed to pull in local stations. His business is lo-tech. Call him on the phone in the mornings or leave a message on his machine and he will call you back. Just the one guy, and he used good materials and did not rush the job. Expect to pay by check, not CC.

My condo is located on one of the higher elevations in the city. According to the FCC antenna web site, I am situated in a good location for receiving the stations that interested me, namely the four major networks and PBS. Mr.Shumate said he thought I could receive 25 channels. He installed an antenna with a boom that is six feet in length, the largest size that will fit in the available space. The instillation was done with care. Unfortunately, the signal strength for most channels varies substantially. For example, some times CBS, channel 3, has a good signal. Other times the signal is so poor that both the picture and sound break up. If you are considering installing a TV antenna, first check the FCC web site which, based on your zip code, will give you a rough idea of whether or not you are in a strong signal area. If possible, even though it will not be pretty, install it outdoors and mount it as high as possible. If you install an antenna indoors, you are more likely to be disappointed with the results.
Description of Work: I live in a condo where TV antennas mounted outside the condo are not permitted. So I had Mr. Shumate install an antenna in the attic of my garage.

Glenn Shumate discussed a number of options for installing an antenna. We chose the back of the garage and the antenna works very well. We get all but one of the channels we used to watch on cable tv. We will have paid off our entire investment (including two DVRs and the antenna) in about 9 months. I recommend Glenn to anyone who finds that cable is not necessary.
