Good electricians, bad communicators. I called them out to ground outlets as half of my house had outlets that are not grounded. Was told they would be to my house at 830am,but they charged me for their drive to my house, which I was not told ahead of time, so my clock started at 8am. Because I was concerned about the cost I asked multiple times where we were with cost, each time I was met with the same answer of "I don't know right now but this is the next step and this is all we have left to do". Their expert opinion was to use GFCI breakers because of how old the house was and to "save" on cost which we went with. They uncovered that the previous owners used back fed wiring after 5 hours (I was charged for 6 hours because of their drive and writing up the paperwork) and only a 3rd of the job was done at that point. I asked them to stop and get me the cost so far which turned out to be 1,423. My issues were They took 4 breaks only one of which was to get parts, the other three were spend on smoke breaks and talking, which wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't paying by the hour. My problem is not with their expertise even though I feel like four hours is a long time to find the back fed issue. Communication, transparency when asked about pricing and all the time wasted when I still mostly have the same problem I had before they came leaves me a little unsatisfied.

They did not provide receipt and they overcharge on the acct. They charge me for the travel The charge I was prepare is for the removal of my ceiling and replacement of my chandelier but for the travel they also charge me for that.

"This customer was told that our drive time to her home from our shop was included in our charges at the time of scheduling. We always include travel time to a job the customer's responsibility and we cover the drive back, especially in this day and age with oil prices being what they are. She told me after the job was complete that that she only had a certain amount of money for the work, but she had no way of knowing exactly how long the job would take. A receipt will be emailed from our office, we are not doing anything dishonest...."

The electrician was great, the company was not. Asked multiple times about the charge and charges and was never told that it is the customers responsibility to pay for the drivers drive time no matter where they are coming from. I was charged an extra $100 when my electrician only had a 20 minute drive. This lacking of transparency between company and customer seems very extreme and I would not recommend.

"Prior to scheduling any service call we inform each client what the cost per hour is and that our drive time to the customer's home is included in the billable hours. The trip to your home would take 35-45 minutes on a normal day not 20 minutes as you stated and this particular morning was slow due to snow during 9 am traffic. Had you asked multiply times as you said in your review, you would have been told this for sure so that we don't have conversations like this after a service is performed."

We bought a new house recently. Office/study room there has very nice shelving units/book cases with installed lamps. At that time I did not know how to turn those lamps on. There was one light switch within the unit on one side but it did not turn the lamps on. In order to find solution, I decided to ask for professional advice. Dustmen Electric was at the top of Google search. I explained to the operator that I cannot turn lamps on and need a professional to look at it. Two electricians from Dustmen Electric came to help. They inspected the light switch on the wall, unsuccessfully attempted to remove wooden panels of the shelving unit, and spent approximately 5 minutes in the basement. No solution was found. Their professional advice was to hire a carpenter, disassemble the unit and then call electricians again. For this service they collected $150. Fortunately (!), I did not follow their advice to hire a carpenter and disassemble the unit. Few hours later that day my dad heard the electrician story and offered to look at the shelving unit. It took him less than 5 minutes to find another light switch on the side that turn lamps on and off. I do not think the electricians from Dustmen Electric did a reasonable job and could collect money for such service. For professional electrician inability to find a light switch is not a reasonable service! I tried calling the Dustmen Electric company and spoke with a manager or an owner. I explained that the problem was not solved because electricians failed to perform proper inspection. I asked my money back. Person on the phone disagreed and explained that they need to pay their people for a visit and not necessarily for what seems to be a reasonable service. I disagree with that.

"Mr. [Member Name Removed], As discussed on the phone, we were called out to trouble shoot a switch in the living that works the lamps in the wall unit. We trouble shot the switch that was to the side of the unit and there was power to and from the light switch and that the light bulbs in the lights were indeed good. Looked inside the wall unit to see if we could get to the lights themselves that were installed in the unit and we could not access the lights to see if they had power to them. We looked for a hidden junction box in the basement and found nothing that would be causing the lights not to work. Because we could not investigate further without damaging the wall unit we suggested a carpenter. Again, as discussed prior, you did not know that there was another hidden light switch that controlled the lights, so how would we know this? I understand that it is upsetting that you had to pay a service call for this but you contacted us to come troubleshoot and we did but there was no way for us to know to look for another switch, especially when you didn't know there was another one. Dustmen Electric did a complete renovation re-wire of kitchen, upstairs, living room, etc. They also replaced my main electrical panel and installed a whole house generator. They did a great job, were professional and first class. I also hired them to do our neighborhood entrance lighting. They got everything done as they said they would. Don, the owner, and his whole crew have been great to work with.
