Mike called when he was on his way and was at my house on time. He was very nice and courteous. He fixed the problem quickly and effectively. Plus we got 15% from Angie's List. They said the price would be $150 for the first hour plus $90 for each additional hour. We got the 15% off the first $150. I do not know how that compares in price to other electricians but I thought they did a good job.
Description of Work: Mike helped to repair an outlet that had been rewired incorrectly.

Everything went very well. The electrician arrived on schedule (sorry, I forgot his name), was very professional, knowledgeable, and personable, and explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He advised me to call DTE to come out and do a permanent repair on the drop (which they haven't done yet). His repair is still holding up and I have had no further electrical issues. He went around the house with me and checked various lights to make sure they were all working. Job well done!! Now if I can only get DTE to fix the drop permanently!
Description of Work: Called them because I had lost power in my house in Auburn Hills. Electrician found problem was with the drop to my house. he made a temporary repair on the drop to restore power, then checked the breaker and circuits within the house.

Both were very friendly and knowledgeable. Was able to trace the issue out to the pole, and I had to call DTE for the rest of the work. But they quickly pointed me in the right direction. Would use them again.

I woke up to a wet basement and water pouring out of our electrical box during a storm. I called one company who was unresponsive and then checked Angie's List for another company. Dean's said they could come out today and told me what to do in the meantime. They called from a job in Royal Oak before they came over. They came "in the afternoon" as promised, no time window specified at appointment set. They got here ten minutes later, were very kind, and looked immediately at the outside box, quickly identifying the main issue. One of them started to seal the meter box and surrounding lines immediately. They looked at the box in the basement, where luckily the water was going off to the side and not across anything that would short it out or cause fire. They dried it out with paper towel and advised us how to proceed in the next couple of days, as we'd likely get residual water in the box that is already in the line. They were kind, professional, didn't try to up sell, and answered our questions. I would use them again for any electrical projects we have.
Description of Work: Fix electrical panel and meter box. Meter box was letting water into electric lines, piping it directly into the basement electric panel.

Had recently moved to this new house with lot of landscape lighting, lot of which had problems. I didn't have any previous experience with it. Person showed up on time, was very professional, spent good amount of time in looking at the issue, explaining the connections to me and how to go about fixing the issue. Did not charge me anything. Wow!

It went very well. Technician knocked on our door, introduced him self as Dean Electric employee and explained the steps he was going to go through.
Description of Work: Checked the main breaker panel for rust and corrosion and sealed the exterior entrance cable and ground wire to the ground rod.

Mike from Dean Electric showed up 15 minutes early and worked staright through to complete the job. He took time to explain everything to my wife. Nice Job
Description of Work: First floor laundry was converted to second kitchen by previous owner. We loved the second kitchen but needed to make sure everything was safe electrically. Contractor Installed new dedicated electrical outlet behind the refridgerator where none previously existed. Also one preexisting 2 way outlet near sink was converted to 4 way GFI outlet near the sink. Previously refridgerator was on extension cord and stove was also plugged into the same standard outlet rather than GFI outlet. I will sleep better now and enjoy second kitchen much more now that Mike from Dean Electric made it safe.

The service men that came to my house were curtious. However, they did not complete all the service I requested; I still have problems, plus I did not get the discount I was promised.

I have to say that I am surprised that you gave us an overall "D" rating for services performed at your home. I first became aware that you had an ongoing issue when I received your e-mail sent at 7:20 a.m. this morning. I responded to you via e-mail at 8:07 a.m. this morning. At 9:30 a.m. I opened my Angie's List account to see your rating. I think that you will agree that in that short period of time we did NOT have the opportunity to get an electrician to your home to address your issues and work things out. Regarding our first trip to your home you requested 3 p.m. or later and we arrived at 3 p.m. only to find that you had left to pick up children at school. Our electricians waited 15-20 minutes for your return before they could start troubleshooting your issue. Their investigation revealed a tripped GFCI on the side of your electrical panel that controls the kitchen circuits in question. They reset the GFCI, it held and everything was working upon their departure. This GFCI may have tripped again so further investigation is required ~ you may have an appliance issue rather than an electrical issue but I am more than willing to make a return service call to your home any day this week. You also mentioned that you were not given the discount you were promised. Did you mention that you were an Angie's List member to the electricians on site? They are aware of the 15% Angie's List discount for our customers but not every service call they go on (and it could be as many as 4-5 per day) is an Angie's List member. However, I will still apply the discount to the return trip needed ($150.00 x 15% = $127.50) for the first hour which will include the first trip and a half hour on the return trip. The charge per hour after that is $90.00. I understand that in business issues and mistakes do happen but I also would like the opportunity to make things right. Please be fair, give us a chance and then rate Dean Electric Inc. Thank you.

Called Dean Electric on a Saturday and left a message. I was surprised that I received a call back from Tim W the same day. He even arranged to come out the following Monday at 10:00am. At this point with all the great Angies List reviews I figured these people sure go above and beyond. Well, Monday at 10:00am came and gone with no Dean Electric at my house. At 10:35am I called the office to confirm my appointment for 10:00am. The lady put me on hold and then Tim answered the phone and appologized saying he did not check his schedule. He informed me he will come out now. Well 15 minutes went by and Tim called back to say that 1:00pm would be better. I hesitated (since I only took 1/2 day off at work) and then agreed. Awhile later I received another call from Tim who had to cancel. We then made an appointment for later in the week on Friday. Well. later in the week came and gone with Dean Electric nowhere in sight. I didn't bother calling them back to setup a new appointment as I called another company who came out and is performing my meter relocation, new breaker box and bonding rods installation. Dean lost out on a $3,600.00 job. So here I missed 1.5 days of work waiting for Dean Electric to never show up. Complete waste of my time. I called Dean today (Saturday) and spoke with Tim. He was very apologetic to me and said he was here on Friday and nobody answered. I believe he did come here from our conversation and I was outside with another electrical company getting a estimate or the fence company also getting an estimate. Wish they would have called my cell phone if I didn't answer and they may have still gotten the job.

I realize that there is no excuse that will make things right for you at this point but in our defense it was just one of those weeks that can get away from you. Tim had numerous estimates and calls to attend to and so many things changed so quickly we just were unable to keep up and keep track. In addition to his schedule changing we also had to reschedule jobs in midstream for our electrical crews due to emergencies. Things got rearranged throughout the entire week AND we had two Trade Shows to set up and attend. I know none of the above means squat to you and I am not justifying what happened but I feel that with more information you may have a change of heart regarding Dean Electric Inc. Mike and Joe did a great job it took them a good amount of time to find the source of the problem which ended up being an upstairs outlet even though the problem we identified was on the first floor it was a very wet day and they but on new covers over their boots every time they went out to the truck. they even brought dog treat for my dog they were on time and I would use them again

The experience was great. He explained the process in detail and was very professional and neat ...cleaned up mess from area. Things happen for a reason and I am glad that the Angie list representative suggested Dean Electric. They were able to come out the next day. Quick service!

What a great company to do business with. Tim came out and walked through the house with me and we went over all the things I wanted to have done and those things that were brought up during my inspection when I bought the house. I bought an older home that was a short sale so it needed work. I ended up having overhead lights installed, inside and outside lights installed/replaced, the service outside replaced going into the house and up to the pole, old lights and wiring removed and a box in the basement moved. The guys were here for a day and a half and did such a great job. They were on time and cleaned up when they were done. They were polite and answered every question I had. I will use this company again without hesitation. I'm very happy with the job they did!

Estimate was not the lowest, but salesperson went the extra mile in customer service and checked a few issues I was having in the kitchen. Talked about the pros and cons of installing lights and switches in different areas of the house and decided to do it at a later date.I was given the start date of the project and would take two days to complete. And was done within the time frame.

Jim and Jeff arrived in the morning and worked diligently all day. They ran into some complications removing the old system, which took longer than they anticipated, but Tim had been proactive in scheduling time on an additional day, which was very good planning. Jim and Jeff answered any questions I had along the way and completed the work to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: The owner, Tim, came out to provide an estimate at at time that worked well for my full-time work schedule. He was very informative and knowledgeable about the issues we needed to address in our 1969 home. Tim provided us an itemized list of estimates for 6 jobs in a "dream electrical scenario". Ultimately, we had his crew update the electrical service to the house, install outlets in the basement, and rewire the porch and garage lights. The job was scheduled for a full day with an additional day reserved for any remaining issues to be addressed.

Tim (President of Dean Electric)came out promptly for the estimate. We had 3 companies estimate the job. After we decided to go with Dean Electric, he scheduled the job for the next week. The guys came a bit later than I was told, but they called to tell me they would be later. It was a 2 day, 2 person job. They were here promptly and cleaned up after themselves. Everything works great. Good communication, price was exactly as quoted. I recommend Dean Electric highly.
Description of Work: Added electrical outlets and installed lights in the basement art studio, removed a broken fixture in a 2 story stairway, and replaced it.

The first guy came out, as promised, saw what we needed to have done, and gave us an estimate. We just had to order the fixture and get it ourselves. Once we had the fixture, someone came out and dug the trench and a few days later, someone came out and hooked a line up to our house and ran in through the trench to the new light pole. He did not like the dusk to dawn eye we had purchased, so he went to the store and purchased a much nicer one that is attached to the house where the electrical connection is. I would definately hire them for my next electrical job.
Description of Work: Trench needed digging to run electrical across our front yard to a new light post, which Dean Electric installed with a great dusk to dawn feature.

I asked him what the most economical way to do it was and he said to run it through the wall. He said they charge a minimum. They charge by the hour and he took forever. He moved the line three inches over and charged me over 200 dollars. He ran it along the wall and left it like that. I would have been better off installing a conduit. He did not know what he was doing. I ended up paying 300 dollars total. He did nothing for his pay. He was terrible. I would not recommend him.
Description of Work: I used Dean Electric in July to move the 220 line.

The two reps from Dean's Electric called to let us know they were on their way as the office had promised. They showed up exactly when they said they would. Jim and Tim were the two who called upon us and they were very courteous and knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions and got right to work on the issues we were having. The ceiling /light fan issue was resovled and we now have light in our once rather dark family room. We had only been using a table lamp and another light fixture when you entered the family room so it always felt very cave like in that room. Now the room has plenty of light and the whole feeling in the room is so much better. Our microwave was causing a circuit to trip because it had not been installed correctly. They were able to reroute the wiring and everything works great now. The two nonworking outlets in each bedroom were more problematic. I have other outlets that do work in those rooms and rather than spend a lot of extra money on those two outlets, we decided for now to just leave it. They did check the outlets thouroughly to make sure there wasn't any electrical hazards so it really was just a matter of spending more dollars and we decided not to at this point. While they were here, we decided to go ahead and get an estimate on installing an outdoor outlet on our front porch. We will be having that done very soon. My husband and I were both very impressed with all aspects of dealing with this company. I can't say enough nice thngs about the two young men who called upon us and did the work. They were great!!!!
Description of Work: We had called Dean's Electric to come at look at 3 different issues we were having. 1. Nonworking ceiling fan in our family room that had never worked since we purchased house. 2. Two electrical sockets that did not work in two different bedrooms 3. Issue with tripping circuits when we used our microwave oven

I called to get quotes to have my foyer light replaced (swapped out) which is 2nd story height. I had gotten quotes from other places on a fixed bid for ~$300. I recieved a estimate from Dean Electric on a time & material pricing for ~$240; which I've always been leary of. Needless to say, they arrived when they said they would, they treated my house with respect, did the work, and was faster than I expected, and was invoiced for hours worked which was below my estimate. I would definately use them again for any electrical needs.
