 + -1 moreJim Krol is, by far, the most honest, thorough and economical jeweler I have ever used. He appraises the pieces while you watch, takes photos, looks under his microscope and then provides the most realistic current market replacement value so you don't have to pay these inflated insurance rates. He sends a complete appraisal in a very timely manner and the charge for his services is very reasonable. I would recommend him to everyone!!
Description of Work: I updated the appraisals on several pieces of jewelry, which Mr. Krol had originally appraised several years ago.

 + -1 moreI am quite pleased with Mr. Krol's professionalism and knowledge. He obviously is quite experienced with appraisals; a glimpse at his resume on the website as well as in the materials provided show impressive credentials. He was quite thorough in assessing the center stone, all side stones, and the settings. He moved from one piece of equipment to the next and had a stack of reference reports that he utilized throughout the appraisal. The report came promptly with a copy to keep and one to send to the insurance agency. A photo is enclosed in the owner's copy. For the price of the item, the appraisal was well worth the cost. I plan to refer family and friends to him and will return again for reappraisals as needed.
Description of Work: I received a platinum and diamond ring from my husband for our anniversary. I wanted to have this ring independently appraised from a certified gemologist, preferably not from a jewelry store chain. I called the office and spoke to Joanne, who is very pleasant and courteous. She explained the process involved: the appraisal is performed on-the-spot, in your presence, and takes approximately 30 minutes. She explained that the cost varies according to the size of the center stone, and that any side stones would be evaluated as part of that cost. The formal appraisal report was to be mailed to me after the visit. At the appointment, Mr. Krol took me into his office and appraised the ring right at his desk, which is covered with all sorts of apparatus. He is personable and made comments throughout the appraisal as to what he was doing and what he was finding. He then cleaned the ring and gave some tips on maintenance. It was never out of my sight except for the cleaning, 30 seconds.
