+ 0 moreWe have used C&C in the past and been very happy with their work. We contacted Chris a while back and asked about his availability. He said it was a very busy summer and to give him a week or so notice when we were ready. We called and he scheduled us a week and a half out. They showed up, did the work and did it very well.
Description of Work: Drywall work for a bathroom remodel job. Popcorn removal for a 8x8 mudroom.

Description of Work: They took a non-symmetrical 60-year old brick chimney and applied a stucco finish. In the process they made the chimney symmetrical, which was not an easy task. It looks great. Too bad I can't upload before and after photos, it was an amazing change. They did a great job and left the work area clean of all construction materials.

+ 0 moreThis was almost laughable. I contacted Chris Lewis in April 2013 and followed up with an additional email. I just now received a response on July 6th 2013 - stating he needs an ADDITIONAL 6-8 weeks for new work. The picture speaks for itself. This company has no time to respond to customer requests? 3 months for response and 2 months to even start work. Very unprofessional.
Description of Work: I contacted this company to have them finish my garage with smooth surface drywall.

+ -1 moreWe inherited a late 70's vintage house that had 7'6and quot; ceilings with popcorn, a huge brick fireplace, dark Masonite paneling on the walls, and a 7and quot; soffit in the kitchen that forced the upper cabinets down too close to the base cabinets. We took down the paneling, removed the soffit, and tore out the fireplace. Chris and Sawyer (of Cand C Finishes) hung the drywall where the fireplace and soffit use to be, skim coated the walls that the paneling was on, scraped the popcorn off the ceiling and finished it smooth. This was a very major job for our small house. It was also a very dusty and messy job. They draped the whole interior with a plastic film that caught all the mess and took it all out when they were done. They left no mess. The taping and mudding on the drywall was perfect. The ceiling was smooth and perfect. The skimcoat on the walls was perfect. They showed up when they said they would and worked through the whole day. We could not be more pleased with the job they did and would highly recommend them.

+ 2 moreAs stated, current project is a work in progress. Unlike drywall that can be slapped up by just about anyone, the art of restoring and repairing plaster walls is a process but the benefits far out weigh any additional time necessary to complete it. In addition to restoring the historic integrity of the house, plaster will not mildew, will not stain, is far more durable and the finish is far superior to the deading effect drywall has, not to mention the health benefits of plaster. If you are remodeling an older home or even building new, please research the benifits of plaster. The first room Cand C restored plaster in (bedroom) is beautiful. Chris Lewis corrected the walls to flat and smooth finish that compliment the original wood work in the room. I highly recommend Cand C Finishing and thank my contractor for the recommendation. Update - project completed and perfectly. My repaired plaster walls are beautifully finished and Chris made sure even wall surfaces that were not included in his original quote were clean and smooth. Chris is dedicated to his clients' satisfaction and I am very satisfied. I hope other owners of historic houses choose to restore the plaster walls instead of slapping drywall over them. There is nothing like plaster walls in a historic house!! .
Description of Work: When we purchased our historic house in downtown Traverse City we knew we had to remove drywall the previous owner had installed to "update" the house and expose the original plaster walls to restore the historic integrity of the house. Because plaster work is a lost art, we had no idea if there was someone in the area who had the skills and capabilities ncessary to restore and repair plaster walls. Our general contractor highly recommended C&C Finishers, and Chris Lewis for the job. Our contractor had worked with C&C in the past and was very pleased with drywall and plaster work that C&C had done in Building 51 at the Grand Traverse Commons and other historic properties in the city. After removing drywall in a bedroom C&C and Chris Lewis went to work performing his majic! The plaster was restored flawlessly and the room looks beautiful. One room down. . . . We are currently remodeling and C&C Finishers is the ONLY company we trust for the job. Chris Lewis blended plaster with existing drywall in connecting areas, installed some wall board that accepts plaster finish and do extensive plaster restoration in the dinning room (which after removing drywall we discovered the bay window has radious, not square walls). As anyone who ownes a historic house knows, it is a work in progress and our house is no exception. If you are looking for someone who has mastered the art of plaster and/or drywall, I most highly recommend C&C and Chris Lewis. He is professional, always here when he says he will be and has a strong work ethic. In addition his fee is reasonable; his work invaluable.

+ -1 moreChris arrives on time and took all necessary steps to protect surfaces (wood floors). Chris was restoring an entire room( walls and ceiling plaster ) which is completed in steps. After working all day he cleaned up and put his tools of the trade away. Cand C Finishers is very reasonably priced for the service provided. The finished product is beautifully plastered walls and ceiling, ready to prime and paint. I recommend Cand C Finishers and give a well deserved A+++ rating.
Description of Work: Chris Lewis, owner, restored wall and ceiling plaster in our 1900s house. Since plaster restoration is a process, it takes a bit longer to complete than drywall but is well worth it if you own an older home and want to restore the original beauty of plaster walls. He arrived each day at the time he said he would and stayed on the project until completed. C&C Finishers also applied drywall to the ceiling of my daughter's house and the finished ceiling is perfect.
