Description of Work: They replaced our chimney cap and waterproofed our brick chimney. Very personable and easy to work with. They were also very knowledgeable about their products and what needed to be done to our chimney.

Description of Work: Initially, I hired Dr. Flue to inspect our chimney to ensure it could be safely used. The inspection was done in a complete and professional manner. The inspector provided much needed understanding as to the condition and operation of our chimney. It was a valuable lesson that included color photographs to illustrate the problems. I would highly recommend the inspection. My problem lies with the second job I hired Dr. Flue for. In the initial inspection, some deterioration was discovered on the outside of our chimney. This had been caused by water damage. Dr. Flue's staff came and made the necessary repairs as agreed by contract. My issue relates to cost. The job took two men exactly one hour with a minimum of effort and a few dollars in material but at a cost of $400.00. This I feel is really too much for what was done.

Description of Work: We originally asked to have the chimney swept, but we were told that the chimney needed a new flue. We had them install the flue on a second visit. After they installed the flue and swept, they told us that the chimney was unusable and needed either an insert which they could do or be completely rebuilt. I do not know if it could have gone down differently, but I'm out 400 bucks and I still don't have a working chimney.

Description of Work: I contacted Dr Flue via email through Angies List and received a very prompt professional response back from Jake. This was also followed up with an email from his assistant Carol. She quoted me a price for cleaning and inspecting my gas fireplace. I was having problems with the outside of my chimney and wanted to get that accessed before calling them to set up an appointment. In the interim my gas starter stopped working. I use this fireplace almost nightly. I called Carol at the number provided and at the times she said they were available. I left a message first thing when they opened. I receive a message back two hours after they were closed asking me to call back the next day. When I called the next day to schedule a time for them to come out I was told there next available appointment to fix my fireplace was seven weeks away!!! I wasn't offered to be put on a priority waitlist or given any alternatives. It sounds like they do good work but I am not impressed with there customer service.

Description of Work: Chimney inspection/cleaning not required. Evaluated 2 chimneys and explained what needed to be done(sealing,tuck-pointing) and would e-mail the estimate to me. Very professional,clean-cut,nice,well-spoken guys(nick and mike). They showed me pictures of areas that could not be seen from the ground. Really great to have "fix-it" guys who are straight forward. Awaiting estimate.

Description of Work: We replaced our wood-burning fireplace with a gas fireplace. Because the top 2 feet of the chimney was crumbling, they suggested taking off that section and placing a cement cap on top. They did and it is working great!

Description of Work: They were professional, and so far from what I can tell, the work was fine. But, the visit was very pricey. Also, I was told I would receive a written estimate for the extensive work that my chimney supposedly needs. It's been a week and haven't heard a word yet. Since the price was high, and they're telling me I need extensive chimney work done, not sure I would use them again. Maybe, but I'll definitely get other opinions first. UPDATED NOVEMBER 3, 2012: As a response to Dr. Flue's response to my review, I submit the following: Yes, my home is 66 years-old. However, I just purchased the home 3 months ago, so wouldn't have been able to attend to any chimney work in the prior 66 years. My error--I did recheck my email and found the proposal from Nick. Yes, it is pricey, but perhaps that is what it will cost. I have questions and will get in touch with him.My mistake as I missed seeing the email there and thought I hadn't received it. As a side note, the tone of the response to my initial review could have been better. The owner called me this morning regarding the review, which I appreciate. I returned his call and left a voice message.
