My experience was perfectly fine. I would call them again if I needed work done.

Although Doctor Flue is not located in our town, that didn't seem to pose a problem for scheduling a time. The company is in the Lansing area a couple times a week and they were able to fit us in without any difficulty. There was no residue from the chimney sweep and the living room and basement area were kept clean during the process. I would not hesitate to use Doctor Flue again next year.

They were very thorough and kind. Their evaluation was very detailed. We were very happy with their service. They were professional and courteous. They wore the booties so they wouldn’t track a mess all over our home which I appreciated. We would definitely recommend them to others.

Called before arriving, early for appointment, very neat, clean, professional, friendly, explained the process and used instructions.

Arrived on time. The two men went right to work, one inside and one on the roof. Were very throrough and very neat. No ash, or soot was left behind. Whole thing took about an hour. Very pleasant and professional individuals. This was the first time I had the chimney cleaned. Their price was higher than other chimney sweeps. I was willing to pay it to be sure I received a quality job, which I did. Now, having seen what is involved, the next time I need to have the chimney cleaned, I might try and save 20% by using one of their competitors.

I've had leaking in my fireplace for about 6 months. I couldn't tell if it was coming from inside or outside the chimney or via roof. Dr. Flue crew came (after I saw good recommendaitons for them on Angies List) and showed me using their laptop and camera where leaks were comiing in to the chimney, patiently explained the options, left me a computer key containing photos they took of the leaks in the chimney and told me that a written/email estimate would follow. I do have a leaking roof anyways around the chimney. They also left me a ticket good for a drawing for an all expense paid trip to Aruba. What I am shaking my head at is how I wish I knew about them prior to buying my home a year ago--had I known about this chimney leak I would adjusted my offer to the seller. Home inspector did not see what Dr. Flue discovered. A year ago I hired a another chimney company that has done two chimney sweeps and inspections for me. They apparently never saw the things that Dr. Flue spotted. Dr. Flue's crew told me not to use the chimney until I had some exterior work done (probably about $800) to the chimney and a new SS liner installed (probably about over $2,000). The photos showed the mortar loose in some spots in the chimney flue. Good experience and nice cusotmer service. I plan on using them to correct problems in my chimney. One more suggestion-- Based on experiece I would recommend that before buying a home people not only hire a building inspector but also a chimney company like these guys.

We had Dr. Flue out to our house to inspect our chimney, and give us a quote for repair. We knew we needed a new crown, unsure what else, and asked them to check it out and tell us what repairs would be needed to have fires safely. (we just bought this house, and the previous owner hadn't used the fire in 10 yrs - we had little info). We gave the same instructions to 2 other chimney sweep and repair companies, and they came out and took a look around and gave us a quote for the cap and said that was all we needed, and that we could use the fireplace now if we wanted. Dr. Flue noticed some cracks on the interior tiles right away and using their cameras inspected all the way up the chimney. The picture wasn't pretty- there were some huge cracks and gaps in the lining. We need to consider some serious repairs, and using the fireplace at present was not safe. Although this was bad news, we certainly appreciated having it. Dr. Flue was also the only one to point out that our mantle wasn't up to code - the wood is too close to the fireplace, and this would need to be addressed for safety. This should have been obvious to the other 2 companies that also came to my house, but neither said anything about this. We were scared by other professionals who seemed to tell us what they thought we wanted to hear and offer an inexpensive price in hopes of booking the work. We were relieved that Dr. Flue was different. Dr. Flue was thorough in pointing out all of the safety issues I had, and that is really important to me. They may not be the cheapest, but I do believe they are completely worth it - quality, trustworthy professionals. I should also mention they have been super clean and respectful of my home

Their price was $228 for a chimney cleaning which was triple what I ended up paying.

We had called another company to inspect the chimney, since it had not been done for several years. The used the video camera and found two spots where the mortar was loosened or gone, and offered us a liner for 1400$. I didn't want to take a chance with the chimney, and I was willing to pay what it costs, but for the price, another 88 dollars for a second opinion seemed reasonable. I had a nice conversation over the phone with the owner, and he came out an hour early for the appointment. He found the same areas that the first guy did, but was able to repair them. He did suggest that the other company's price of $1400 for a chimney liner was low. Dr Flue seemed to do a great job, very neat and professional. He also gave us an entry to a sweepstakes week in Aruba; I think it is his own personal place.

The initial visit for an estimate went well, they were the the most thorough company, checking out the interior access points as well as the roof access. We intended to purchase our wood stove from them but they informed us that they could not because there was dealer in the area; they directed us to that dealer instead of trying to talk us into another stove they could provide. We purchased the stove from the dealer but did have them install it. They had to come out 2 times because they found a problem fitting the round insulated pipe through one point of the chimney, they brought a different insulated liner the second trip and were able to fit it through the constriction point. The staff who came to the house were very professional and were really good about asking us where we wanted the stove and how we wanted the alignment of stove pipe etc. They had to install some extra support pipes and asked us before doing any of that as well. They did not charge us any extra money for the extra trips or extra work. Kevon spent a lot of time with me prior to our signing the contract, explaining details and modifying the wording to a point where I was comfortable. This was due to over a year of headaches we had with the contractor who had worked on our kitchen and bath renovations. In all our conversations and e-mails Kevon was very polite and very informative. We will be hiring his company for annual maintenance as well.

They were on time(2 guys came) and courteous. Did their job well. Didn't find anything wrong with fireplace. We will be able to use it. The owner will take care of crack/ hole by the chimney.

I thought that they were very professional. They showed up on time and there was nothing that I disliked. They did a good job.

The work was performed according to the specifics given. So far, so good.

Just bought a house and the inspector recommended getting the fireplace checked before use. Kevon and his assistant were early and checked the water heater chimney as well. They sealed a leak at the roofline and also noted problems with the water heater chimney which the inspector seemed to miss.

We felt that everything went very well. They were efficient, worked all together (three men) left everything immediately clean and explained what they were doing and what needed to be done. We are very very satisfied. They are a top drawer company.

He called that he would be 20 minutes late. Put slip-covers on shoes. Explained everything in detail. Fixed the blower and gave detailed info on new gas insert. Answered all questions.

Excellent job. Kevon and his assistant were very respectful of my house, always wearing shoe protectors inside the house. Kevon took his time answering my questions and did a top-knotch job. They did not rush and they left everything as clean as when they came. Very good scheduling from the front office and they were punctual. I don't know what else to say. I would highly recommend them and if I need their services in the future, I would not hesitate to call Dr. Flue.

The Doc and his assistant were on time, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.

Problems with scheduling. Technicians were very late but once here did an excellent quick job as I'have grown to expect.

Two technicians arrived from Dr. Flue exactly on time. They were neatly and cleanly dressed and extremely friendly. They put booties over their shoes before taking a single step into my house. They did an inside inspection of the fireplace and looked up the chimney with a flashlight and mirror. They returned to their truck to get their equipment, laid out a covering on the carpet from the front door to the fireplace and proceeded to clean and vacuum the fireplace and chimney. They then went outside to inspect the chimney and chimney top. When done with that, they showed me pictures of the top of the chimney and advised that there was just the beginnings of rust and I should keep an eye on it. Also showed me a dent in the chimney cap, probably caused by a falling branch, but that everything was still working fine. I was not sold any services I did not require. They also advised me that the mechanism to close my damper was a little sticky and I should be sure to give it a good push to close it completely. They made sure to tell me that it was closd when they left, so I won't fill my house with smoke the first time I go to use the fireplace.

Called day before appointment to confirm, on time, knew how rather to do, didn't waste time, didn't try to hide incorrect flue size (exchanged for correct size), accidentally broke some clay roof tiles, didn't try to hide this (were replaced). Overall, could have gone a little smoother, but took the necessary time to do it right.

As always they were very professional, efficient and thoroughly cleaned the chimney and stove.

They were prompt, professional, courteous, clean, and responsive. So far pleased with their service. They will return to replace the cap later after they obtain the right size.
