+ 0 moreThey were coming to clean the chimney, when inspected it didn't need to be cleaned. They saw the cracks and told me about it. They also took pictures which they allowed me to keep. I had them do the work right then. Very professional men, Nick & Mike.
Description of Work: Chimney inspection. Re-surfaced mortar around pipe on chimney which was cracked and allowing water to enter behind stone.

+ 0 moreThe experience was flawless and the professionalism was incredible. There is no question in my mind I will use them again and would recommend them to anyone without reservation. The bulk of the price was for the custom made stainless chimney cap. Had we not needed a chimney cap the cost would have been under $100.
Description of Work: My 40 year old house had never had the chimney cleaned or inspected. This was becoming a safety concern for me since we enjoy using the wood burning fireplace. When I contacted Doctor Flue they responded immediately and set an appointment for a few weeks out. I had hoped for quicker, but based on the quality of service and the reasonable price I'm sure they are busy. They called a few days ahead to set the time, and arrived very close to that time. The inspection went well, they found no issues and the chimney did not even need cleaned. Their only suggestion was a chimney cap. At the time we had birds in the chimney and have had them in the past also. Since my chimney is an odd size and and double flue they needed to have a cap made. The new cap is stainless steel and well made. They came back at the specific set time and installed the cap. Lucky for us the birds had vacated between the first and second visit. On a side note. A few days before the initial visit we experienced a powerful storm with 80mph winds. These winds had pushed a neighbors tree over into the side of my house. We had patched the hole in the roof and tarped over it. While "Doc" was on the roof inspecting the chimney he noticed a second hole we had not seen. They slipped a scrap of sheet metal under the shingles and sealed it with silicone making a better patch than I ever could have.

+ -1 moreJake and Patrick arrived on time and were efficient and reasonably priced. They wore shoe cover-ups, placed cloth tarps on our carpet and then cleaned up well.
Description of Work: The backwall of our fireplace was replaced because of a bad, long crack. Also a stainless steel, custom-made wall was placed in front of the ceramic backwall.

They (two of them) spent more than an hour videoing both the inside and outside of our chimney and we hired them on the spot. They performed the first part of the work the following week and returned two weeks later to complete the job. Everyone was on-time and very professional.
Description of Work: We received estimates from three companies we found on Angie's List. Our chimney was leaking and there were some loose bricks. We were sure the entire chimney would have to be torn down and rebuilt -- a very expensive undertaking. Doctor Flue showed (and convinced) us that this wasn't the only way. They re-tuck pointed the bricks and did a few other things (I don't remember exactly). The chimney looks great and it no longer leaks.

+ -1 moreI was very pleased with the service from Doctor Flue. Lisa organized an appointment at short notice, then Kevon called on the day to ask if it was okay to come early. Kevon was amazing - he kept the place clean (overshoes) and put everything back where it was. He took photos and showed me all the issues. He explained all my options - from cheap to expensive, and even explained in detail how to do part of the job myself when I told him I wanted to. He told me a few options that were available that he wouldn't recommend but would do if I want to. He's going to email back quotes on different parts of the repair, and left me with digital copies of all the photos. I was initially put off a bit by the price (compared to some of the specials on Angie's list) but I had a good feeling over the phone that was confirmed by the visit. With Doctor Flue you wont be talked into a service you don't need, and if you do need it, the price will be fair and the quality exceptional.
Description of Work: Inspection and assessment of chimney for raccoons broken damper. Quotation for repair of liner, flue and installation of fireplace insert.

+ -1 moreWe had to wait a couple weeks to get an appointment but we were happy with Dr. Flue and will use them again. They inspected our chimney and fireplace and unfortunately we discovered more damage than could be fixed with a cleaning. We aren't sure what we'll do yet but they left us with enough information to help us find the most cost effective and practical solution. Once we make that decision and save up some money, we'll call Dr. Flue to make the necessary repairs.

+ -1 moreVery impressed with the knowledge and sincerity of the employees. They were very professional and respectful of my home. I would consider hiring them to clean the chimneys when needed if their price wasn't too far over other companies' pricing. I wasn't aware of their 7-10 day wait for an estimate, wasn't informed of it when I called 4-5 days later asking if one was being sent, and only used another company because was trying to coordinate the chimney repair with roofers. Otherwise would have probably used this company.
Description of Work: Needed an estimate on repairs to brick chimney. Company was very good with communicating beforehand with describing their service, what they charge and what they do during the inspection and with arrival time for appointment. Very open about process and sharing info learned and what needed to be done using live video and photos. Checked 2nd chimney too as part of fee for the house call.

+ -1 moreDoctor Flue gave an exact appointment time of 11:45, and then at 10:15 called and said they could be early, which was a great convenience for me. Technicians Nick and Trey were courteous, businesslike, and got to work right away. When they had finished the work described above, they gave a thorough review of the condition of the chimneys, discussed some of the options for needed repairs, and took information for delivery of proposals by e-mail. They left pictures of the video inspection and the exterior chimneys on a jump drive so we can review them. They were very knowledgeable; also appreciated that they told me that the structure of the chimneys was sound and didn't need total rebuild, which another contractor had told us would be the best solution and cost $20,000.
Description of Work: Inspected and cleaned two chimneys. Performed video inspection of flue. Vacuumed and cleaned both fireplaces. Inspected exterior brick and caps on the chimneys, which have been spalling and causing us some concern..
