I scheduled them for a chimney inspection and possible cleaning, as well as to do a quote for a fireplace insert. Every single contact I've had with them has been polite and professional, and their commitment to great service is very apparent. Trae, the tech who came on the initial visit, worked efficiently and answered all my questions as he told me the chimney didn't need cleaning, and then showed me the options for a fireplace insert. It was clear he knew what he was talking about, and he made some good recommendations. He emailed me the quote the next day (I think) and we signed the contract right away. Today was our installation day and I could not be happier with how it went. Kevon and Corey worked tirelessly for 4 hours, taking as much care with our home as I imagine they would with their own. I got a special peek into their work ethic as Kevon was training Corey, letting him handle most of the project with Kevon's supervision. I was very impressed with some of the things I overheard them saying to each other, and I would trust these guys to do anything in my home. They patiently tolerated my curious kitty, Dexter, as he tried to get into everything they were doing. I even heard Corey talking to Dexter several times -- that's the way to my heart, by the way. (Thanks for that kindness, Corey.) When the installation was done, they got a fire started and explained proper operation of the stove, again answering all of my questions and giving me some great tips. I'm sitting here now with a fantastic fire going and I cannot believe how much warmer the room is already. I wish we'd done this years ago. I can't recommend this company highly enough, and can only wish everyone who came into my home to work was this respectful, professional, and courteous.

Overall I am very happy with the service provided.

My husband made an appointment with them for a cost estimate. The bill was going to be sizable, I would think it would have been worth their time. As planned he took the Friday off for the appointment. They said they would call him on Wednesday to verify the appointment time. When they did not call, he had to call them to ask when they would be at the house. OK fine, so that was one trip-up but then they called on the day of the appointment to say that they could not come due to road conditions. To be sure, it was not a great day but I had to drive 75 miles to work at 6 in the morning and made it just fine. Their appointment was for much later. The shop that did show up, on time, as planned had an cost estimate to give in the area of Dr. Flue straight after our cost estimate. I am thinking they made it just fine. So we had plenty of time to think that these guys just could not be bothered to show up. After another phone call, they cited ice on the roofs as the real problem. So the story changed. Yet my husband is still lost a day of work. Might be best to ask these folks to do work in the Summer only.

The owner of the company and his helper came out and inspected a leak we were having on the interior brick surface. They recommended sealing the exterior bricks and also performed a free chimney cleaning. We haven't had a leaking issue since. The company was very professional, courteous and reasonably priced. A very pleasant experience!

When I called to make the appointment, the staff answering the phone was very polite and explained what would be done at my home to diagnose the problem as well as the costs. She called me again two days ahead with the exact time of arrival. Jake and his coworker arrived on time or perhaps even a few minutes early. Both were polite. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly, and fixed it. The entire visit took about 45 minutes. As promised, I only paid for the service visit and the part that was needed to repair it. After I wrote the check, I realized that I had forgotten to include the Angie's list coupon. Jake was patient while I printed it out and then wrote a new check with the discount. In summary - good service, knowledgeable as well as polite staff. Would definitely use again if I have another problem with the gas fireplace.

Very polite, clean, thorough and said they would send me an estimate in a week for additional work needed. I asked for the estimate to be broken down for each item, after two weeks I heard nothing. I called them and the estimate was sent for one lump sum. At the house was a "B" in professionalism, after would be an "F".

Tech came to inspect fireplace for installation of a gas fireplace insert. They charge you 128 for the inspection whether you buy anything or not. This was explained to me over phone in advance by the scheduler, but I still think it's inappropriate to charge for an estimate. Also, he could not do installation of gas line, so wanted me to hire another company to do this. That was inconvenient for me - I preferred to hire someone who could do the whole job without me running around finding subs for them. Other recommendations on Angie's list were positive, so I assume they do a good job, but they are not particularly competitive on price. I did not decide to hire this vendor.

Very efficient. Had appointment in January, called to move up to December, worked on it hard.

I was somewhat disappointed that I was scheduled a week after I contacted them for service but I understand that this is their busy season and Christmas week. As promised, I was contacted the night prior to confirm the appointment and the scheduled time. Technician showed up on time and the phone estimate was accurate.

However, they showed me images from their camera that suggested that I had major problems. A retailed steel flue liner would be needed at a cost of $2843. We were told that the chimney was dangerous to use. We got a second opinion that the chimney was safe. No flue needed. They were trying to sell unneeded work.

They showed us everything that was going on while they were doing it and mentioned the safety concerns. After the work was done, they took the time to answer all of my questions, as well as go over all the different options we have to get the fireplace working again. I was impressed that they didn't brush off or rush through my questions, but made me feel like my concerns were important to them too. We will be having them back next month to reline the chimney and put in an insert (probably wood burning) and then to repair the crown in the spring. We are extremely happy with the work they did, and more importantly, their positive and helpful attitudes. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

They were on time, put on skippers before walking over our carpets. Estimate for repair was emailed promptly, including iPad photo of damaged area.

When calling to set up a time, the inspection was described as about $150 to see if the chimney was safe. If the chimney needed to be cleaned and inspected, it would be about $250. Obviously, to see the tiles and check morter and the liner you need to clean off the soot. Understandable. So, 45 minutes later, $250. I could see the morter missing on the video and the shattered liner. It was good to know it wasn't safe. It just seemed like it was overpriced to me.

Excellent - The "Doc" told me what they'd look for, what they found and how to fix it. They did a great job and were very personable, professional and efficient.

Scheduled inspection and cleaning of my gas fireplace insert to ensure it's ready for operation and that the chimney is in proper working condition. The office called 2 days prior to the appointment to provide an expected arrival time. On the day of the appointment, Nick and Mike were running behind due to a prior job, but called ahead of my expected arrival time to let me know of the delay and that they would arrive approx 30 minutes later than scheduled. The inspection was thorough and included several items a prior chimney sweep never even mentioned or performed (safety pilot gas shutoff and stopwatch test, gas leak detection on the gas line and shutoffs, stirring of the burner pan sand to loosen and allow more airflow.) They performed both an insert inspection as well as a roof inspection of the crown and chimney conditions. Photos were taken during the roof inspection and they noted areas they recommended be addressed (cracking crown), while showing me the photos, which gave me a chance to see the conditions not just take their word for it (without having to get on the roof myself). I was also provided a link via email which allowed me to both view and download the photos for my records. A video inspection of the chimney was also performed to identify and potential areas of concern. Upon completion of the inspection, the insert was put back together and tuned to enhance the flames. Nick and Mike were also able to advise me that based on the condition of the chimney, a cleaning of it was not necessary and did not bill for that service. They indicated they would email a proposal related to the cracked crown and recommend work, however, did not push for extras. Only after I asked for additional information on cold drafts did they discuss additional options on replacing the model of insert and/or moving to a direct vent system. Overall, very professional and informative and a company I would use again.

Thorough cleaning and explanation of services needed. Not able to provide service required until spring. Very expensive compared to competitors that actually provided service.

Trae was punctual, very courteous & got right to work. He was informative, wiling to show w/ pictures all the information he gathered & made a professional assessment. I totally would hire him again. Although he did not clean my chimney because I decided against it, I benefited from his professional assessment.

This was my first contact with Doctor Flue. In fact, it was my first experience with any chimney cleaning company. Jake and Cory were the service men. My appointment time was 10 am -- they arrived 20 minutes early. (A pleasant surprise!) Both of them put the booties on as soon as they entered my home. Jake was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my many questions without talking down to me. I had scheduled a cleaning of the fireplace, but after looking at it, Jake told me the fireplace was unsafe to use and had to be replaced. I suspected that but was thoroughly convinced after Jake showed me the photos of the chimney cap and other items on the roof of my condo. After the inspection, Jake gave me the flash drive which contained photographs of the fireplace and roof items. It also contained a photo of the new cap that would be installed, so I could clear that with my condo association. My experience was exactly as Doctor Flue's website stated. I was very impressed with Jake and Cory and the overall experience. I am waiting for a price quote from Doctor Flue for installing a new fireplace system.

They came out, but the tech did not have the particular size for my chimney and had to re-schedule another visit. Originally, they were going to schedule that visit out by 3 weeks. That was not acceptable, and they were able to shorten the time to install the product by three days. The tech did not ask me if I wanted a critter control top damper. Had I known their standard was without a critter control, I would have ordered it the first time. They had to come back and take out the top damper and replace it with a critter control top damper. Too funny, but when the tech went to show me how to operate the new top damper, a dead squirrel fell into the hearth. Make sure you get a critter control top damper! It was pretty funny.
