When you invite a company into your home to work on the place that you live, you need to rely upon them to do three basic things: Fix what needs to be fixed, and do so for a price that's fair market, and to be honest about their professional assessment of the work to be done. Dr. Flue failed to do these three basic things. Allow me to illustrate. Dr. Flue insisted that my chimney cap needed to be replaced, based on a hairline crack, and marginal separation at the seal. They charged me $278 for a chimney sweep, and the estimate. The chimney cap was only a couple years old. It did not need to be replaced. The existence of a hairline crack in a cement cap isn't cause to replace anything. They wanted more than $1000 for this repair, which was simply not needed. Their estimate for the chimney reline was also over-priced. And finally, the sweep of my one-story chimney was at least $150 over priced. In short, I saved $2,000 by choosing another company to do the work that was needed. This other company's professionalism puts Dr. Flue to shame.

The install took place on the day scheduled and the technicians arrived when they said they would. They went right to work and got the job completed in a reasonable amount of time. Throughout the install process they answered all questions in a friendly and professional manor. It was obvious to see that they were concerned about doing a quality job. When the job was done they took time to explain the functions of the insert. Over all, it was a great experience. I would not hesitate but to use them again if the need were to arise.

Very happy with the work and service. Did get a recommendation to add another enclosed fireplace to replace existing. That quote was surprisingly high but have not research costs as of yet. I would use again and recommend to friends.

They scheduled the work for the following spring, and ended up doing it a month later than planned due to weather. Their work was clean and thorough, and they solved minor problems with our fule at no extra charge. They are easy to contact and straightforward to work with.

2 personable young men cleaned and adjusted a vented gas log fireplace and an enclosed gas log, climbed the roof, photographed outside and inside chimney. No mess! This was a good deal. Offered a lifetime contract on leak proof chimney cover- probably a good deal for younger owners.

After the inspection revealed the cracked chimney liner and tuck point repairs, everything was explained to us and we received the quote and photos in the event we filed an insurance claim. The insurance claim specialist contacted Doctor Flue who answered their questions and provided all requested info. We were successful with our claim for the chimney liner replacement and only had to pay our deductible. The service techs were great, very respectful of our home and all contact with the office (Terry) was exceptional. Doctor Flue will complete the additional repairs on both chimneys in the spring. They will be the company we will use for all our chimney work in the future. Great job.

Did a full inspection and cleaning. Did not push additional unnecessary services, which made me happy. I would use them again.

It went quite badly. We scheduled the appointment for 1/10/2012, only to have it canceled by Dr. Flue at the last minute and moved to 1/17/2012 after we had already arranged our schedules to be home for the inspection. Then, once they came, the servicemen were unable to use their equipment to inspect our chimney from the inside. They said it would have to be inspected from the roof, but due to the weather they would be unable to do it that day. They then "inspected" our other chimney, which has a gas burning fireplace, and concluded that due to a missing brick the entire thing would have to be replaced at exorbitant cost. But we hadn't even asked them to inspect this chimney! They then charged us $80 for a full inspection, despite the fact that they self-admittedly hadn't done what we called them to do. They promised to come back when the weather permitted and perform the inspection. My wife and I then became extremely busy for the next few two years with, among other things, the birth and infancy of our twin daughters. So I put off calling them until I had some free time, which was two weeks ago. The customer service representative told me that the services had been performed and that they were under no obligation to do anything else, despite their promise. When I explained the situation to her (thinking that perhaps it wasn't entirely clear to her from the invoice) she basically accused me of lying, insinuating that the fact that I waited so long was indicative of guilt on my part. I would think that it shouldn't matter how long I wait, and that a company that makes great effort to infer an alignment of itself with the Christian faith by the fish insignia on their invoice and the "Have a blessed day" message in their voice message would be understanding of the fact that people sometimes get really busy and that that doesn't free them from the obligation of performing services which were paid for. Anyways, the conversation was really unpleasant for me, and the accusatory and argumentative tone of their agent really made the experience far from "blessed". At the end of our conversation I said that I would write a negative review on Angie's list. Her cocky reply was, and I quote: "You do that. You do that."

Satisfied with all work. Video inspection used and images shown to us. Work was done neatly and on time.

Fast, effective and efficient. They called ahead on appointment day to move appointment earlier a few hours because prior appointment finished early. Nick and Denise were personable and professional, and took care to minimize dust, ash, footprints, etc. in the house. They also advised on DYI door gasket replacement. The slight downside: it's the wrong time of year for quick repair scheduling! It was about three weeks from initial call to service date but, but considering that this is the high-demand season, I'm not disappointed.

Nick was prompt. Checked everything out and then explained what was wrong and then proceeded with the repairs. He covered all of the flooring from the door to the fireplace with tarp and left everything clean and as it was previous. He was very informative, explained what he was doing and since we have only been in the house just over a year, he showed us how to relight the pilot. Very professional and very knowledgeable. I will definately be using their service again, when needed.

By looking at the video & the pictures it is clear I need repairs for both the fireplace flue & the water heater flue. Cory made sure I understood that using the fireplace could cause a house fire due to the chimney mortar problems. Also inefficiency in the heat from the fireplace because of the damage meant more soot build up etc. I was well pleased with the work & the explanation of what was to be done. To fix the problems will entail installation of a new flue for both the fireplace & the water heater. The cost for that work will be more than my budget can afford at present. I will miss not being able to have my fireplace fires but the risk is too great until I can have the Flue Doctor do the repair work. The knowledge of that is well worth the initial visit. After the cleaning(they put down a cloth cover on the floor) all soot etc they packed the tools they had brought in careful not to hit walls or furniture.. The total time for the work and explanations was about an hour & a half. So I made it to work within the time I needed. I recommend them highly & plan to use them as soon as my budget allows to do the needed repairs.

He arrived a half hour late. They did call 15 minutes late to tell me they were going to be late. He came in and looked at the fireplace and told me their was nothing he could do. The model was not manufactured anymore so he could not touch it. I told him I had explained to the women I had talked to that I had others out and they were not able to help. She assured me her guys could fix anything. I told him this and he said he was sorry that the girls on the phone don't always know all the information, though I had given it to her. He was there no more then 15 minutes and told me he was sorry but he had to charge me the full amount. I should not have paid it but I did. Looking back it was my mistake I should have refused to pay the full amount. I really got nothing from him.

I called and set up a service appointment with Terry. She is very polite and gracious. She said they would call with a specific time the day before, which they did. Nick and Cory showed up 15-20 minutes early.. Both young men are polite, knowledgeable, skilled, and clearly informed us of what they were doing and the results of the inspection. They fixed the upstairs fireplace, removed and cleaned the glass in the lower level vented fireplace, and checked everything for safety--including climbing on the roof to check the cover over the chimney. There was no need for any clean-up after they finished. They used drop cloths and shoe covers. Nick, Cory and Terry are friendly and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this company to others.

Jake & Denise came on time, introduced themselves, very professional, wore booties on shoes, put cloth on floor. Explained as they went. Told me options, discussed my expectations. Very well!

Showed up on time, very courteous and informative! Walked through the entire inspection process and showed me potential future trouble spots. Didn't perform cleaning because it wasn't necessary.

The price seems a bit high, but I have nothing to compare against so I gave an A anyway. They were punctual, courteous, and they provided good photos and explanations of the problems in our chimneys. It's good we had our chimney inspected because they identified numerous creosote-filled cracks that could easily result in dangerous fires. They also identified previous chimney fires. They provided all the photos and documentation of the work in an email.

Doc and Cory did a fantastic job on the install and everything was on-time, just as they had stated when Cory was here to do the chimney sweep the month prior. They called the morning we were scheduled to have the install performed and asked if they were ok to come early. Very professional and they left everything spotless just as it was before they arrived. Doc explained the basic function of the new stove insert and even provided some tips based on his experience to get the most out of the new insert. Fantastic job, we will definitely be using them next year when we add a freestanding stove in the basement.

Nick and Caz were very friendly and efficient. Nick discussed all findings on the video and discussed methods to correct problem areas. Provided email with description of findings. Also discussed replacement of 2 gas fireplace units. We ordered a gas log unit ($2001.68) and they will return to install it after delivery from factory.

The first time Dr. Flue came out, he inspected the chimney thoroughly & explained that the liner had been improperly installed by the people we bought the insert from (they had crimped the liner to make it fit). He showed us pictures & explained in detail what needed to be done. We set up an appointment to have the necessary repairs completed. Dr. Flue & his assistant, Denise, showed up right on time. They were friendly, professional & protected the floors & carpets. We have already set up an appointment in the spring to have the chimney swept once the season is over.

They were prompt, addressed the problems I had and showed me how to get in touch with them if any problems arose in the future. I was impressed with the work and completely satisfied.

Excellent. Mike and Cory arrived on time. They were very professional and knowledgeable. Could not have been more satisfied. Price is higher than others, but the level of service was well worth it.

.Jake and Caz were here exactly on time and rapidly went to work. They wore clean covers over their shoes (like you see in hospitals) before they put down clean drop cloths all the way from the door to the fireplace. I didn't see too much evidence of a detailed inspection with pictures, etc. but they said the chimney was in good shape. They cleaned the metal insert which we have inside the original ceramic flue and were very neat and clean in doing their job. They noticed a small crack in the chimney cap and sealed it with silicone at no extra charge. I think the cost of the inspection before they did the actual cleaning was a little high. At all times they were friendly and professional.

Not good................... First he was late to the appointment. He reviewed the situation and sent a report of "findings", but no estimate to repair. Said he would follow-up with an estimate, but to-date still hasn't. Obviously, I have gotten the repair done by someone else.
