Things went quite well. I had recently purchased the house and the inspector had noted that the chimney likely needed to be cleaned. After a bit of research I opted for Doctor Flue to come out and give it a once over. Cory and Jason were early and came prepared. They scoped the chimney noting that some areas of the mortar are starting to go, but all in all it was in good condition and a cleaning was not required. They were on ahead of schedule, upfront and honest. I'd gladly hire them again for any of my chimney related needs.

Very friendly and professional. The price quoted for repair work was higher than I would have liked, but I'm confident that the work would be of the highest quality, and was comparable in price to quotes received from companies who would likely not deliver as high of quality.

I found them in Angie’s List and they have good reviews. They’re expensive. They did wonderful job. The guy was really sweat and really great. They have great communication via email. The clean up was good and they wear booties.

It went just fine. The service done was an annual inspection and cleaning I have done as part of my regular fireplace maintenance program. I have a high efficiency, wood burning fireplace insert. I use the fireplace to help heat my home so it is in use on a daily basis from approximately November through March. Due to this heavy use, it is important that the fireplace is operating safely and efficiently. Dr. Flue arrived on schedule at the designated day and speedily went to work. The service person acted in a professional manner. He did a superb job and cleaned up so there was no mess and there was no damage to my unit. He provided me with a verbal and a written report with photos of the inside of my flue.. Since this was a routine yearly maintenance and no other service was required, this was all pretty straightforward. My only reservation is the cost seemed a bit high for just a cleaning and inspection. In the past, I have had another company (which didn't charge as much) do this service, but I was not satisfied with their level of professionalism and the serviceman damaged the baffle blanket on the fireplace. So on balance, I guess the higher cost from Dr. Flue was worth the extra cost. I certainly will employ them to service my fireplace in the future.

Our chimney was leaking rust down the outside of the house. I contacted Doctor Flue and they came and gave me a quote to replace the chimney chase cover. They also did a complete evaluation of our chimney and said everything was in great working order. Their evaluation and quote included pictures of the inside of the chimney and pictures from the top of the chimney. They ordered the new chase cover and when it arrived they set up a schedule for 1pm today. They actually showed up 25 minutes early and completed the work in 45 minutes. The technicians were extremely professional.

I had hired Dr. Flue to do a chimney video inspection. They had to come out on three different dates because of Chimney Swifts that had not left yet. On the final visit the Swifts were gone and they were able to complete the inspection. They were very thorough and professional. I also had a chimney cap installed. During the inspection they take pictures of everything they find. They found some mortar joints to be weak and cracked, exposing gaps. Rather than just show me the pictures the tech asked me to watch along on the video monitor with him. He explained the reason this was bad the explained that it should be fixed. He was able to provide me with a couple different options and prices for all the options. It was a two man team and both were very respectful and professional. I would recommend them to friends.

It went extremely well. Kevon, the project manager, was exceptionally knowledgeable and capable and he performed all of the technically challenging tasks himself. Candidly, Doctor Flue presented the optimal solution at the lowest bid. Other contractors either only wanted to provide a cosmetic fix or recommended rebuilding a considerable amount of the chimneys that was not necessary. Although this was an expensive project undertaking, I felt that Doctor Flue provided a cost effective solution that will provide lifetime serviceability for my chimneys. I cannot speak highly enough in regard to their expertise and professionalism. As well, their entire team was prompt, courteous, and professionally presented themselves.

We are still having problems with it so I’ve got to have them come back out here. They were great and fine. I think the price was fine. I think in the area, they are the only ones that would work on the kind of fireplace we have.

I got several estimates and while Doctor Flu was not the lowest in price, they seemed to have the most knowledge about chimneys. I knew I needed tuckpointing, but they were able to ascertain that one chimney needed a liner. My house was built in 1918 and the bricks inside the chimney were disintegrating. No other company pointed this out. All communication with the company was professional and efficient and thorough. They showed up as planned and did the work in one day. The workmen were really on the ball and enthusiastic about their work. I hadn't planned to do such an expensive home repair this year, but was glad that this potentially serious infrastructure problem had been detected and that it could be fixed with a stainless steel liner. Even though they are based in Michigan, they have enough business in Columbus, OH to travel here to do work, and the distance didn't ever become an issue. I would recommend them highly.

Throughout the process, Dr. Flue was extremely professional. After my initial call, a visit was scheduled and the technician showed up as promised. A firm quote, complete with pictures of the problem, were emailed to me the same day. The quote included removing the existing cover and fireplace caps (which were galvanized and severely corroded) and replace with stainless steel versions. In addition, our basement fireplace was not working, and they also were contracted (included in the above price as well) to replace the thermopile on the fireplace. I was anxious to have the cover installed quickly as it had developed a leak. The repair was scheduled for three weeks out since a custom cap and large cover needed to be fabricated. Unfortunately, they called the week of the scheduled appointment and had to reschedule as their supplier had not completed the cap on time. They were apologetic and we rescheduled for two more weeks out. They called 2 days before the visit to confirm and the technician also called the morning of the visit to give a more exact arrival time. The cover and caps were replaced as quoted. And while the cost was quite high, the new cover was a dramatic improvement over the original cover and was worth the cost (besides the obvious upgrade from galvanized to stainless, the construction was superior as well - the new cover had a built in pitch to it to allow for proper water run-off and had proper standoffs built into the cover to ensure no leakage at the point of the caps going through the cover). Again, pictures of the new installation, including pictures of the inside of the chimney were provided by email after the completion of the installation. On the replacement of the thermopile for the basement fireplace, it turned out that this was not the problem. Apparently, the control board for the fireplace was not operating correctly, and the technician was going to have to find a replacement and come back on another day. It turns out that the company that made the fireplace (Marco) went out of business some time ago, and after searching many of his vendors, the technician was unable to find any replacement parts. He called me personally to discuss and apologized. While I am disappointed in this, I do not directly blame Dr. Flue for this unfortunate situation, and I appreciate the technician searching for replacement parts and personally calling me to discuss the fact that they were unavailable. The cost for this service was removed from the originally quoted cost. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service and the professionalism at every step.

It was excellent. The men came on time, explained their work, were very careful to protect our indoor room as well as our yard and roof. They carefully did the work and shared with us a detailed and photographed story of exactly what they did. They said to call them if there were any questions or if there was any problem with the new liner. They were respectul, careful and extremely personable. It was a great experience. At the end of the work, the following day, we received a letter from the office, thanking us for the work, offering us continued support and asking for any issues we may have had with the installation. It was an excellent experience.

These guys from start to finish were very professional and this is not to be confused with slick salesmanship. You can tell that everyone appreciates working for their company and they want to differentiate themselves from other home service providers. When they leave they clean up their work area and you can't tell they were even there. Keep in mind that they are working with masonry products.

From the moment of first contact, they have been a pleasure to work with and very professional. Our tech, Nick, was fantastic! He took the time to explain everything to us and was patient as we asked questions. They did a video inspection of our chimney which was very helpful as it revealed a dangerous situation going on inside. We ended up needing a liner installed, as well as a new cap and some masonry work done on top since the cap was off and we were constantly having birds fall down and peck at our flue! We also decided to go with having a brand new gas fireplace insert as well since it would be up to date and safer than the one we had already in place. Even though it is not a "neat and clean" installation process, Nick was very good about keeping the mess to a minimum and cleaned up throughly before they left. It was cleaner than when they arrived! They are definately worth a phone call and consideration! We will highly recommend them to all of our family and friends!

Jack and Cory arrived just prior to the scheduled appointment. They covered the floor to protect it, cleaned the chimney, brided me on the results and cleaned up very well. They were friendly as well as professional.

Since I am a senior on a limited income I got 3 estimates for the work. Doctor Flue was in the middle. I chose them because of the friendly customer service. The office answered any questions I had and Nick, who did the actual work, was prompt in arriving both times and did the work efficiently. I liked that he showed me pictures of the chimney and I could see the work that needed to be done. He also showed me pictures of the work they did to actually repair the crown. I am hoping this repair will take care of the problem with water dripping into the heatalator vents during heavy rains.
