This was a great experience, all-around. I highly recommend Dr. Flue. Scheduling I filled out the online form for an appointment, and received a call back a few days later, offering an appointment approximately a month later. This might be because Dr. Flue services Columbus from its HQ in southern Michigan, and they need to schedule the local appointments in a block. They did, however, put me on a "Priority List" for an earlier appointment. This actually turned out to be a real thing -- I got called 3 times with earlier open slots, and finally booked an appointment the Monday after Christmas. I was called the Friday before with the exact arrival time. The technician called an hour before the scheduled time and said that he could be there in 20-30 minutes, if I was okay with that. I was. The Work Two technicians (Cory and Kaz) arrived, introduced themselves, and shook my hand. They put booties over their boots and explained what they'd be doing. They conducted a visual (from the roof) and video inspection of my primary fireplace, and also looked at a fireplace insert that's installed in the basement fireplace (I've never used it). The fireplace didn't need cleaning, but does have a couple of minor grout gaps. The thing in the basement doesn't meet modern codes, and shouldn't be used. They explained issues clearly and simply, and answered my questions willingly. At my request, we also discussed -- and they provided several quotes for purchase and installation of a wood fireplace insert. Cost and Future Work The inspection cost $148, which felt reasonable. No cleaning was recommended. The $148 will actually be credited against any future purchase. The quotes for the wood stoves were higher than I expected, but I'm just beginning to shop those.

The technicians called before arrival and were actually early. They introduced themselves by name right away, wore booties over their shoes, and set to work to diagnose the problem with the electric start for my gas fireplace. They had the equipment necessary to fix the problem, gave me the price, and were able to accomplish everything in one trip. Not only were they professional and efficient, they went the extra mile to educate me about how my fireplace works and how I can enhance the operation. I highly recommend them.

The technicians were professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The cleaning and inspection was quick and thorough. Minor repairs were completed during same visit. Video images of interior of chimney and future recommendations were given at visit and also e-mailed to us.

Overall it went great!!! Very, very thorough inspection done on my chimney and fireplace. To the extent that they went as high up as the top of my chimney all the way to the basement to check out the installation of my scuttle. Additionally they even got me a quote on the glass doors to my fireplace within hours of visiting my home. I'd highly recommend Doctor Flue.

Mike G. showed up early. We have 3 dogs and he didn't mind their attention at all. He got right to work. Took pictures of everything. Chimney did not need cleaning. Caulked the flashing around the chimney for no extra cost. Provided us with estimate for insert installation. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. Would not hesitate to have this company back.

They were very professional, and I am happy with the job they did. However, I was quoted a much lower price on the phone than what I paid. Be sure to double check their prices before committing.

Everything went extremely well, the team showed up and got right to work. After they developed an understanding on the as is situation they explained everything to me in extreme detail. The price was reasonable, and they team was very professional. I would recommend Dr. Flue to anyone with fireplace needs.

It went very well. I would have like a better more economical option, but I would still call this company again for service. They provide you with as much information as possible including a picture of their work.

If you're reading this review and have aspirations to start your own business, give these guys a call and see how it's done. Absolutely the best customer service I've ever experienced - Fantastic! Our original appointment was scheduled for 12:15, but we received a call around 11:15 from Cory and Joe to let us know they were running a little early and would be happy to get started IF it was okay with us. We agreed and they arrived around 11:30. Before entering the house (and without being told) they covered their shoes so they wouldn't track in mud and dirt. Once inside, the immediately started sweeping the chimney. Joe was inside sweeping while Cory was on the roof inspecting the structure. After a half hour, the sweep was complete and Cory and Joe were walking us through all the service they provided and started recording the inside of the chimney to look for gaps in the mortar and other hidden structural problems. They found one pretty significant gap on the top seam, which is not uncommon, but they recommended that I allow them to fix it for free. After climbing back up on the roof and fixing the seam, Cory came back and told us what to expect over the next couple years as far as maintenance and repairs were concerned. What I was most impressed with was that there was absolutely NO upsellling from these guys - they were direct, honest and went above an beyond our expectations. I mean let's be honest - most people don't know anything about chimneys and people are TERRIFIED of the thought of their house burning down - so the fact that they didn't try to capitalize on this admirable. We really enjoyed our time with Cory and Joe and we will be using them from this day forward to annual inspections. It rare to find people that make you feel good about spending $300 for home maintenance - but they these guys did just that. Thanks for being awesome, guys!

Everything went splendidly. Mike & Caz were great. Professional, personable, and friendly. They explained what they were going to do. They allowed for my questions and observations. They allowed me to watch the video inspection. Showed me the before and after pics. Then they followed up with invoice and pics via email which I could then show my husband. Also, they were very respectful of carpet in family room and my knick knacks and furniture. I definitely recommend them to anyone. And, I am on there schedule for future inspection and clean. This was a great experience. First, when I called to schedule the appointment a very professional and courteous woman walked me through the entire process. She described the services offered and helped me schedule an appointment. When I mentioned my Angie's List coupon she made sure to tell me to print it out to provide at the time of service. I had an exact arrival time for 8am. That fact alone shocked me, in a good way! At 8am I received a phone call from the technicians, Mike and Chaz, that they were stuck in traffic and running about 20 minutes late. I was blown away that they called. Well done! Upon arriving I was impressed by their clean, well marked work van. Both Mike and Chaz were uniformed and politely introduced themselves to me. Without asking, they both put on shoe booties. They asked me what they could help me with and then explained exactly what they would do. They took digital photos from the roof to show me exactly what they saw on and in the chimney. I asked them a lot of questions and they were very patient with me. It became obvious that Mike was training Chaz. I was very impressed with the professionalism that Mike instructed Chaz. They did suggest an additional repair, but did not pressure me in any way to make the purchase. I believe that they had my best interest in mind in making the suggestion. We will be making the additional repair with Dr. Flue in a few months. I highly recommend Dr. Flue and hope you're lucky enough to have Mike and/or Chaz help you out.

Corey showed up right on time. He was very professional and got to work right away. He inspected both chimney flues from the fireplace as well as from above after removing the chimney caps. There was some caulking around the storm collar that had deteriorated, which Corey recaulked. Since the flues were clean, Corey did not recommend cleaning them at this time. Other chimney sweeps that have come out automatically swept the chimneys whether they needed it or not. By not performing an unneeded service, Corey saved me money. I received photos and a report of the condition of both chimneys for my records later the same day. I couldn't be more pleased with this company and have put myself on the schedule for next year. I would highly recommend them.

Cory and Kaz were the technicians. They were punctual and professional. The video inspection of the inside of the fireplace was incredibly valuable in showing me specifically what work needed to be done.

They were very efficient and clean. Jake and everyone is helpful, courteous, and knowledgable. They are professional and clean the work area so well, you wouldn’t have known they had been there. That was especially true when they clean the chimney flu AND wood stove. They cleaned all the ashes and the glass window. They made sure to put tarps down everywhere. I’m just really impressed with them!

They called to see if they could stop by early which was worked out well. They quickly yet carefully inspected my chimney and firebox. They talked me through everything they did so I felt comfortable with the service. They made a couple of recommendations which I plan to follow-up on in the Spring. I really appreciated that they didn't try to hard sell me on anything. Instead they made honest recommendations which is why I plan to have them back for future work. I would highly recommend then to anyone.

The scheduling and service of this company is poor. - Called and was scheduled for a vist 1 month out - Was called to confirm day/time. Since I was not available at 3:30 when they wanted to come, I was pushed out another month

Great! They did visual and camera inspection of fireplace and chimney. Worse than I suspected. Needs work before safe use. They explained all, showed the pictures and we agreed on further work.

Jake showed up on time, he called before he came. He inspected, cleaned the gas fireplace and window. He showed us how to take out and clean the gas ourselves. Nothing was wrong with the unit. We will have them back next year for more preventative maintenance.

Even though the service ended up being much more expensive then we expected, Jake was very clear and thorough in explaining and showing us the details of what needed to be fixed for the safety of the chimney & fireplaces. Their office was very prompt and had good follow up. Scheduling was efficient and Jake & Jason were very much on time.

The service from this company has been AWESOME. My mom has been without a blower since last December because of shoddy work from local company. Mike from Dr. Flue came out on October 1st and checked everything out and went back and found a generic blower that would work on the fireplace. Blower was ordered and today is October 20th and Mike was back at 8 a.m. this morning and installed new blower and fireplace if up and running with a blower that is so quiet you can barely hear that it is running. This has renewed our faith that there are companies out there that do care what kind of work they do and are true to their word, they are very professional and keep you informed every step of the way until problem is fixed. I would recommend them for anyone who needs any fireplace work done and their service area is very wide. Thank you so much, you have made my mom very happy and satisfied.
