Price was very good. The quality of windows is OK but for the price , no complains. Its been a year and so far so good. Staff was very good and did a good job. Though they didn't clean up as well as i would've liked but not too bad.

On 4/29/13 we agreed to have a total of 14 windows replaced. The sales person called when the work permit was to be obtained saying that due to our city ordinance on fire egress law for upstairs bedroom windows, the windows selected could not be put in and the sales person kept insisting that our city was the strictest on the egress fire ordinances he ever encountered. This resulted in our contract being changed for fewer windows. It was later learned that the problem was not the egress laws, it was the fact the Wallside replacement casement window operation hardware caused the inability to meet state fire laws. When the time was near for the replacement, we received a call that our delivery date was changed forcing us to changed our work schedule to be home for the work. The work crew arrived, did the work and left, lacking a bit of customer care. One young crew member walked around outside smoking a cigarette, clean up was just average, finding pieces of metal outside after trim was cut. After they left we found factory defects in window screens, the interior trim was verbally told to us by the salesmen going to be a nice wood trim which was nothing more than pine quarter round. We made a call to the company about the problems as well dissatisfaction with a window. Several more weeks to wait and again we received a call our service date had to be reset for several more weeks, but after being told this was not acceptable, it was shorten to about 10 days. When the service person arrived, it was nothing more than a walk through note taking saying he had to turn in his report. More waiting, phone calls and finally we were given a replacement window, new screens and we purchased our own trim which they put up for us. The second crew that came in was very customer oriented and followed through even with a phone call to us the next day about the issues being resolved. In November when temperatures dropped and winds, blowing, we noticed air coming in around the window interior trim of all the windows. Using some window caulk, the air leaks were stopped. The windows are under warranty but we are tired of setting appointments weeks ahead of time just to have them delayed, then service calls which are nothing more than note taking with no action and more weeks of waiting for work to be completed.

The windows were installed in a day and they did a great job on the windows. We were concerned about the view out to our lake. We were pleased that they made the three windows into one. The gutters were done in a couple hours. When they installed the siding they did an okay job, but it took a long time to hang it. It was only one guy that did it and he was without an assistant for most of that time. It did take them about a week to complete the siding.

They showed up when they said they would. They went to work immediately and had the job done in under 2 hours. The workers were professional and focused. When they finished they cleaned up and answered all the questions we had about cleaning and maintaining the windows. The windows are double paned with an inert gas between panes and are UV tinted. We are very happy with the service and the quality of the windows. I recommend this company highly.

This is the second time I used Wallside windows. The first time I used them was in July to replace a sliding glass door and window in my basement. That purchase and install went great. The crew that came out and did the installation was absolutely great and I was very happy. It was based on this experience that I decided to use them again and replace all the other windows in my house. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience as the first time. I had asked for the same installation crew that did my first job, unfortunately I did not get them. The crew that I had this time was like the crew from h***. They showed up about an hour and a half later than they said they would be there with the head guy showing up about 45 minutes later. The first 3 guys looked like they were rounded up from the local high school. The head guy showed up talking on his cell phone and barely acknowledged me. They went about their work ripping out the windows, they ended up breaking one of my knick knacks, left pieces of wood chips on the floor inside the house, left cut pieces of the metal trim, caps off the caulk tubes, pieces of wood chips and other miscellaneous garbage on the entry way to my basement slider that my puppies go in and out of. I had to pick this up so my puppies wouldn't get hurt. When they told me they were done, I asked them to walk around with me outside to look at the windows, though I must say, the head guy was already packing up and I didn't go over anything with me. It was during this walk around that the guy discovered that several of the second story windows hadn't been caulked. Scary thing is that if I hadn't requested this, they would have left without all of my windows being caulked. I saw him leaning out of these windows trying to caulk them as opposed to getting a ladder and making sure it was done the right way. After they left I called Wallside right away and voiced all of my concerns and complaints and I was assured this would be addressed immediately. While I was waiting for someone to call me back, I noticed that one of my windows in my bedroom looked like the sash had been cut and it clearly could have been seen by the installers, there was also another window with a cracked inside sash, which again they should have seen but they said nothing. It seemed like they were more intent on getting out of there then doing a quality job. They did not remove any of the stickers nor did they make sure the screens were properly in place. It wasn't until the third repair person came out did I finally figure out why I was getting all these bugs in my house. The installers did not make sure the screens were properly in place. It has taken me until October 19 to get the repairs to my windows, although there is still another one I discovered that also has a defect so I have to call them back again. I've also noticed I have gaps around my windows outside where the calk has come up from the house. It seems like amateurs did the installation. Dealing with service in getting these issues taken care of has been a nightmare as well. I never heard from anyone high up in Wallside regrading my complaints and concerns. Several of the techs that came out to do the repairs were very kind and did what they could but it seems they never had a complete work order, something was always missing. My bottom line in all of this, the quality of your Wallside experience will be totally dependent upon the installation crew you get. My first experience was awesome, this experience has been the absolute worst. I am so tempted to rip these windows out, sue Wallside for my money back and have someone else come out and replace the windows. This has been very disappointing. I feel like I need to pay someone to come out and recaulk all of these windows and make sure that these are installed correctly. But I don't feel like I should have to do this, unfortunately Wallside doesn't appear like they have to live up to their end. I'll let you know how this continuing saga goes.

We are very sorry that the [Member name removed]had a bad experience with us. We do everything we can to make sure our customers are happy. Once this was brought to our attention the owner of the company called [Member name removed] and we have having our installation manager go out to the [Member name removed] home and see what we can do to make sure they are happy.

The windows themselves are very good and they delivered on time, but we had installation issues that disappointed my wife and I (significant enough to give them an overall B rating). That being said, the service manager Mark was great, and he made sure the issues were fixed and that all our concerns taken were taken care of. My biggest comment to anyone buying windows from anyone, not just this company is that if you feel that the crew installing the windows is not doing a quality job, call your sales person or the install manager and have them come on site to make sure that they are doing the job right the first time.

The salesman who came out was very thorough. I had a timeline that was shorter than their normal turnaround, but they met it with days to spare. The workmen came out on time and were very professional. I thought it would be at least a whole day to complete the job, but the old windows were out, the new ones in (with new moldings in place), the house cleaned of debris and left before noon! I love the windows. Tilt in cleaning. I won't have to use the plastic this winter!

They went above and above what they needed to do. There was some water damage found in the window that was in the kitchen, and the gentlemen went out of his way to reinforce it and make sure that everything was good, before putting the window in. You wouldn't normally see that!! They cleaned up, very professional and got the job done. I plan on putting in a patio door and will not hesitate to call Wallside to have this done as well.
Description of Work: The guys that showed up to put the windows in had me nervous at first, there was only 3 of them and 9 windows that needed completely tore out. But they have a great system and excellent team work and got started right away!! They were like machines! You don't see that kind of team work now-a-days!

I want to preface all this from the fact that I am a licensed general contractor and personally perform all interior and exterior trades. Quality and Integrity is an everyday experience on my projects and I have an extreme attention to detail attitude. I have installed numerous windows and door walls properly and according to manufacture specifications. There are two reasons that I didn't install my own windows which was a difficult decision to make. 1- I am extremely busy and extremely limited on my time (I work between 60 - 70 hours Mon - Fri) and I can't give a 35 year warranty on the windows I install in comparison to the Wallside Window warranty. So because of my personal experience with Wallside and how well they have taken care of us as our first home came with Wallside windows and several of my customers who had issues with their Wallside windows had them taken care of without any issues. The salesman (Skip) met me at my home on an afternoon and spent a few minutes doing a general measure up of our windows. He then pulled the typical sales pitches to gave me a ridiculous high price but then informed me of their buy one get one free sale. I then asked him if you double the price of the first in order to make up for the 2nd being free? He gave me a blank stare before giving me the new total. He said he would actually give me the tan color for free but again, it wasn't for free. He just didn't tell me the price. And as all high pressure salesman do, he said the price was only good for that day. I told him I would be paying cash and he said he would take 10% off the total which he did. I also mentioned that lead safe working techniques needed to be adhered due to age of our home. The day the installers came I met the project lead and discussed some of the details of the job pertaining to the caulk being crisp as well as the type of trim being installed inside. Also due to my homes age I wanted the proper lead safe working techniques done. Upon checking with them during the set up of removal and such I had to show the contractor who set it up how to do it as he really didn't understand the process. I also let them use my $700.00 HEPA vacuum as they didn't have theirs. During installation I checked on their work and noted several issues with their installation practices. Windows were not leveled and plumbed. Lacked support in the center of the window. I spoke with the project lead and asked where his level was and he told me that it was in the truck. I asked why would anyone install windows without a level? It they are not installed with a level and the center is not properly supported then the window would not properly close, latch or seal. He be grudgingly corrected the 3 or 4 windows. Then I walked around to the front of my home to check on the caulking and noted a terrible caulk job that jogged all over the place as he followed the stonework around the windows. I was extremely unhappy to say the least. He told me it is because of the stone and brick being rough. I told him that caulking needs to be as smooth as possible and that conditions would allow. I explained and showed him a technique in order to achieve smoother results at difficult circumstances such as those on my home. The caulking at the rest of the windows came out great. Go figure. There were still other issues noted but the project lead told me they needed to go to their next job in Detroit and wanted to get there and complete it before it got too late. In other words I was slowing them down and keeping them from rushing my job so they can get to another. He told me to call Customer service and schedule a service call so they can come back and fix the issues. It took several calls to get a hold of the service manager and get a different crew out to correct the issues. I would not let the same crew who exemplified terrible quality to repair the issues that they caused. The service manager was not happy with this arrangement as the project manager was his brother. After 2 more service calls the windows were finally operating properly with the exception of our door wall latch. It is tricky to latch and shouldn't be. With some adjustments made every few months it usually corrects it for a while. So now when people ask my thoughts on Wallside Windows I just tell them the truth. They are a phenominal window but the installation crew is a shot in the dark. And the customer service is good when they get back to you.

From the time we signed the contract it took them about 5 weeks to install the windows. The installers were great, they showed up around 11 am and were done by 3:30 replacing 20 windows. Everything was good. There was a rip in one of the screens and they said they would get a new one in about a week.

I had windows replaced by Wallside in December of 2012 and everything went smoothly so I decided to go with them again when I was ready for new siding. I wanted two leaky bay windows completely removed and framed in, as well as new vinyl siding. When the salesman was out, I stressed to him, like I had with all the other contractors who had given me bids, that I wanted the interior wall completely finished. He told me no problem, they would drywall and do everything but paint it. Two days before the siding project started, two guys came out and removed the bays, framed them in, boarded up from the outside, drywalled on the inside and mudded. I asked him about the second coat and was told 'oh, we only do the first coat, you will have to finish it'. WHAT?!? I called my salesman, who of course swore up and down that he had told me that I would have to finish the wall, and that if I wasn't happy, I should talk to a manager. I called numerous times and left several voicemails over the next few days and did not receive one call back from anyone. When I finally gave up trying to get a hold of the elusive management and talked to someone in customer service, she told me Wallside doesn't do drywall and that it must have been some other company that had been out. After going around and around with her, I was told that they would contact the installers who had been out and they would get back to me within a few days. I feel like the salesman told me whatever it took to get me to sign with them and not one of the other companies I had gotten bids from. Wallsides communication and customer service has been absolutely horrible. Not one voicemail that I left them was ever returned. I will never use them again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. The siding portion of the job was actually completed by Excel Home Improvement, since Wallside contracts out their work. I wish I had just gone with that company and ommited Wallside completely. The two guys who came out to do the siding job were very nice and did a great job. Lesson learned.

Review Update: --------------------- I have decided to update this review because of the extremely polite, prompt, concerned, and considerate response I received from Wallside regarding the situation I described below. They offered to come back and do extra cleanup. I declined because I had already done as much as I thought possible. Then a few weeks later they called back and offered some compensation for my troubles (i.e., Meijer's gift cards). They were extremely happy to do this and the amount they gave was generous. And then a few weeks later, they called to see how we were liking the windows. When I mentioned that a few of the top panes seem to drop when we close the bottom pane, they offered to send people out to re-balance the windows at no cost. It is for all of these reasons that I am increasing my rating here. I would use Wallside again and I would recommend them to a friend. However, I would also be extremely nitpicky about the cleanup process and perform a more thorough inspection of the ground before I accepted the work as complete. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Original Review: ---------------------- I paid $4700 to replace 15 windows. This was a great price. And for this price, the overall experience was quite good. The sales guy was pleasant and did not waste our time (he was the 5th to come do an estimate). The measurement guy, though gruff (he complained about my request to remove his shoes before walking through the house), turned out to be friendly and quick. And the 3 men who came to do the installation were extremely professional, pleasant, open to questions/explanations, and focused on doing the job well. They also used a *huge* amount of plastic to cover the floors/furniture, which I appreciated given that I expressed concern about the possibility of lead paint in the house with my two kids. I was actually so pleased with the job that I tipped the crew $50 at the end of the day. So why the not-so-excellent score? Well, shortly after they left, I started finding paint chips (up to 2 cm diameter) in and around my house. At first I was just looking under the window sills and I found a few under each sill, but then I realized that there were chips in corners of walls *without* windows! How?! Why?! I was perplexed for a minute until I realized that these chips must have fallen off the plastic sheets when they were removed, apparently not carefully enough. And I discovered the same issue in a few places outside: areas with numerous paint chips (larger than the chips inside) sprinkled on the ground. I vacuumed every corner of the house and picked up the chips outside near the places where my kids may play. Still, today (24 hours later), I found a paint chip on the top of my baby's foot. That's what prompted me to write this review. The workers took many precautions, especially in putting the plastic down, but I do not think they were careful enough when picking it up. Given that the primary reason I had my windows replaced was my concern about lead paint near my kids, this error was a major blight on my overall Wallside experience.

Not good at the end. I bought the windows salesman nice and aggressive. Once I paid him-he was no where to be found. The windows were installed. Sometime after I noticed some streakin on large patio door. I thought it was dirt. I tried to wash it off and realized the seal broke and it was a defective doorwall. I called they appologized profusely and said they would replace it. They came on time as scheduled and replaced it-no problem. Then the same thing happened and once (in addition to the screen lock breaking) again they apologized and set up an appoinment for themto come out and requested an afternoon. They said they would try- I suggested that they put me in in 4 weeks in order to help the scheduling so that I could get a time that was good for me and not have to take off work for them to replace the defective doorwall they sold me. Well low and behold they called me the day before stating they would be there in the morning-they stated they would have to reschedule. So after 3 or 4 times of rescheduling I still do not have the replacement that is covered by Wallside. I had a party for my son and all asked when did I get the new windows-they were defective!!! I cant afford to take off work to sit there to wait. All the time they tried to use psychology on me and kept on repeating themselves "We understand your frustration but we subcontract out our work and we have no control over them" Service -Not!!

This experience with Wallside was better than I ever expected it would go. From the meeting with the salesman to the final install, everyone was courteous, friendly, extremely professional, prompt, timely etc. etc. etc. It could not have been better. The installers were almost too nice the day they were at the house. I did have an issue with the full picture window glass they installed and asked that it be looked at. The service tech that came out explained why the glass looked as it did due to being tempered. I requested they replace it and within two or three weeks they had a new pane in and it looks great. I truly cannot say enough good about this experience. I generally am not the sort that does reviews for services but in this case I highly recommend Wallside Windows.

The windows are premade at the factory. They are some type of plastic. Their brochure does not specify their material. For Interior colors they only offer medium oak, dark oak, cherry and white. The wood grain is simulated in their paint process. They describe the medium oak as light oak but it is much darker than all of the natural stain on the windows, doors and other oak trim and cupboards in my house. Wallside does not offer any painting or staining for the interior wood trim. I chose medium oak for the windows I was replacing as there is crown molding and other wood trim in the rooms so white would not have worked. I asked them to deliver the window trim in advance so I could work out a stain which would be between their light/medium oak and the existing trim in my house. I applied 3 coats of stain and 2 coats of polyurethane to all of the wood window trim before the installation. Other companies will provide painted or stained wood trim from the factory for a fee; or a reference for a tradesman who will stain/paint, polyurethane the window trim after it is installed. It's much more difficult to stain and polyurethane the trim once the window is installed. Wallside doesn't tell you to have the trim delivered in advance. I wanted to do so since I had seen how much skill would be required to do the work after installation. The wood trim cut and applied around my windows was not fitted as well as it should have been. The corners are uneven and must be filled with wood putty as the gaps are noticeable. There are also holes from stapling the trim which were quite noticeable because the staple was placed across the trim where there is a profile difference. This was not true for the windows which I had installed by another company. Wallside will not tell you what time they are coming until the morning of the installation because they have so many crews. I was told that they have 80 different contractors that they use, so you don't know who will come out or how capable they will be. One of the reasons I contacted Wallside is that I have 3 sets of windows which are 76" long. Wallside assured me that since they make the window themselves they can make them 76". Other large manufacturers such as Pella and Anderson say that the window glass can only be 72" and the balance is handled by changing the width of the wood trim. What Wallside doesn't tell you is that their window frames are 2" wide. My wood windows have 1" wide framing so I still lost 2" in height and 2" in width. Wallside also tells you that the homeowner is responsible for window treatments and security systems. But since they don't point out that the width the finished window may be different, you won't know ahead of time that your blinds or window trim won't fit. So once the interior wood trim is installed, your window is narrower. As long as your budget included $560 for new blinds from Home Depot, it's not a problem. Double check with your security system also. You may not be able to reinstall your existing security system, and a work around could cost $300.00+. I did contact Wallside about the security system problem and was asked if I had completely read my contract. At that point I realized that they don't really care that much about your satisfaction. It's the questions that you don't know to ask that cause problems and cost money. The windows are OK. They are not beautiful as are my other windows and I would not want them as a focal point. If I hadn't had 2 really beautiful Pella windows installed by a contractor who prides himself on the quality of his work, maybe I wouldn't notice the difference. Was it cheaper? Maybe, especially since I did the trim work myself, and if you don't count the blinds and security system charges. Two of the windows are in the garage so I can live with it. However, if I were having all the remaining original windows replaced - 12 in my great room, 4 in the dining room, 3 upstairs bedrooms, kitchen doorwall and window - I would not use Wallside.

The salesman was spectacular. He did a great job, was polite and responsive to my questions and really listened and explained well. The gentleman came to measure on a different day and was nice and prompt. I found it slightly weird that he had what seemed like his whole family waiting in the car in my front yard but ok. Something must have gone wonky between sales, measuring, and making cuz when they installed, my two kitchen windows were swapped in terms of one being side slide and the other a typical top to bottom, but I went with it. The crew that came to install were there all day and I learned later from one of them they were purposefully going slow because they found that two of the windows were made too short and they were waiting for the rush job to make them and then someone brought them out specially. I appreciated the fact that they did wait and do it that day instead of making me wait. I was not impressed by the arguing between the guys installing. It was slightly tense and I had so many windows installed that I couldn't exactly get away from them. And then I didn't appreciate when they went outside to smoke next to a window that was out! DUH! You are installing windows and the smoke is pouring in the hole that you just made popping out the window. On their way out, the gent told me that there was a hole in a screen but I would have to wait to call the company until they got the paperwork turned in. Ok. Fortunately, I had to call anyways because on the of the windows cracked. The one customer service lady that I called several times was wonderful, apologetic, just spectacular. I thought some others had cracked in the corners as well but when they came to repair them, it was glue that had dried so hard it made it seem cracked. I had to call back to customer service and she was obviously busy and a little gruff. But the follow up guy was great except that it took him three weeks to get me on the schedule after having cancelled on me once. Good thing the window didn't crack and fall out! Oh and while they do take most of the trash with them and vacuumed, I have since found large slivers of wood laying around next to the walls from where they tore out the old windows and several huge shards of glass inside and out, one of which I almost stepped on in my bare feet in the kitchen. Thanks goodness the sales guy was nice, the price was right, and the guarantees make up for the shady installation.
