After calling two other roofing companies a friend said I should call Arnie at American Standard Roofing before I make my final decision. So I did, They came out and did a thorough inspection on our roof, explained what needed to be done and provided us with a price. They were courteous and professional. Never once did they use any high pressure technics or scare tatics as the others had. We decided to hire American Standard Roofing. They called and set up a start date. The crew arrived on schedule and on time. From the time they arrived everything they did was top notch. The cleanup was given the same effort as the roof installation. They completed the work in one day as promised. This was the best experience we have ever had with a home improvement project. I would highly recommend American Standard roofing.

Arnie Goodman came out and spoke with my husband and myself. He was a very nice guy and very professional. We had two other estimates done also and decided on this company. Arnie and his men measured the house and got on the roof to take a look at it. We had just bought this house and us not being roofers knew this house need a new roof put on it. We had a couple of leaks in the house and the roof was a mess on the outside except the area over the garage was not as bad. Our roof was the black sheep on the block and now it has the best looking roof on the block! Our home is a work in progress and lots of remodeling going on in it at this time. American Standard Roofing is one of the best companies out here. We are very happy with our new roof! Love the color we choose for our roof too. I'm in love! Great 30 year warranty and labor included. Great materials, nice heavy duty shingles. Barb is a sweetheart! She was so patient with me in deciding on a color for the roof. She gave us a list of homes to drive around and take a look at those homes to see the color and check out the work they did on those home. Thank you Barb! Great person she is!

I called American Standard to come out and give me an estimate for roof vents. I was told by another company, rather adamantly, that my A-Frame home had no roof vents and that I needed them in order to improve the energy efficiency of my home, as well as to keep mold from forming in the two small cubby-hole type attic spaces. I actually asked the other company, if they could do the work, and was told yes. Terry was supposed to give me an estimate and information on the venting, but never got back to me...a blessing in disguise! Mike, from American Standard arrived to assess my need for venting and almost immediately stated that I did not need roof venting, as per the style of my home. (an A-Frame- with no attic). I showed Mike the areas the other company said needed venting. He shook his head and told me...yes, he could put venting in there, but the space was so small, it would hardly be effective...and there was no baffling to circulate the air...so venting the space was not going to do much. I was floored by this...here is a roofing expert- completely contradicting what I was told. To be clear...the other company was a "handyman" service...but Terry - had a good rating and seemed highly knowledgeable. I want to believe he was sincerely trying to help me, but apparently, Terry is not the expert he presented himself to be....on the issue he brought up and elaborated about in detail. I trust Mike...roofing is his business. He very easily could have taken advantage of my situation to make a sale....he did not. Even when I asked him about another potential issue with my roof, he said I was in good shape. He didn't even give me a sales pitch for a new roof...which I fully expected that to be part of the visit...especially since he wasn't making any money on selling me vents! This really won my respect. When I do need a new roof...this will be the person and company I call!! Thank You Mike!

Arnie Goodman, the owmer of American Standard Roofing, does work for my insurance agent who recommended him highly ; and he came to inspect the house himself. His bid included a 30 year guarantee and labor, materials and permits as well as a commitment to fix whatever might go wrong in the future (except for what might be caused by weather, etc) He answered all of the questions we asked and he initialed the contract to reflect our understanding. He had pre and post photos taken and he uploaded them to me daily. American Standard waited for the right weather so that the shingles would not expand and contract with fluctuating weather. According to my brother in law, the bid was pristine....included every contingency and no surprises. The job called for the use of premium materials and he provided them. There was no effort to substitute cheaper shingles or anything else. If they found anything that needed to be fixed, they fixed it and did not try to charge extra for doing it. They even fixed a flashing on the roof over my front door and didn't charge to do it. When they arrived to do the work, they had all of the materials. They were on time and they stayed until the job was done. The site was clean and there were no materials left in the trees or on the ground. After getting a good look at the shingles, Arnie said they did not need to be replaced at all. They were wood (not aluminum as the builder had told me ) and they just needed painting and recaulking. He provided some recommendations of companies like his , who would not overcharge and would give me a job that would last. Painting , he said, would cost half of what he would have to charge to do the siding, and it wasn't needed. I would recommend American Standard to any one who needs a roof. They are honest, decent people and they do a great job.
Description of Work: My house is 3800 sq ft, with half of that being an addition that was put on when I bought the house, 8 years ago. I have had 4 roof jobs and every year , the same leaks come back. I didn't know what to do to stop it and it was becoming so expensive that I was almost willing to do anything. My new brother in law, a knowledgeable architect/builder examined the roof and said that , while a partial job might fix it, a good roofer would have to remove the old roof, check all of the work where the old part of the house joined the new addition and that the estimates would be important in choosing an honest roofer. He showed me where some of the boards were rotting and no soffit vents had been installed by any of the previous roofers. I needed trim boards, rear and rake boards, repair of a hump in the roof and new plywood in several areas. He gave me a list of what an honest roofer would suggest must be done to guarantee the job and he gave me a range as to the cost. There were some window boards that needed replacing and the siding needed painting. We had 9 estimates .....every one of them examined the inside and outside of the house and each one was told what I wanted is to stop the leaks, whatever that took. Every one guaranteed the work that they were proposing would end the leaks. Some of the roofers took photos, some did not. All submitted written bids. Many of the bids contained wording that my brother in law said was designed to allow them to charge me more once the job started. All roofers were given the same specifications for shingle type, style of vents and materials. Some of the roofers insisted the siding was a problem and all had to be replaced or I would continue to have leaks. After each bid, I sent a series of questions which made it clear that I knew what should be done and that I would not sign a contract that was vague. That was the last I heard from several of the companies. There was only ONE bidder that was certain to fix the problem, did not over or under charge ....and it was from American Standard Roofing. The bids ranged from a mere $200 (which the roofer said would fix the problem guaranteed) to $32,000 which had some of that wiggle room language in the bid. My brother in law said the job should cost between $9,000 and $10,000. The other companies were : - JK Home Improvement (Kondrath brothers) Bid was over $30,000 and included all new gutters (the gutters were new, did not need to be replaced) and all new siding for $17,900 (siding needed painting and caulking, not relacement) with a note that both roof and siding had to be done to stop leaks. He said he would not "be comfortable" if I did not agree to do both. - BCM Roofing : Bid was $600. for a partial job which did not include ice shield in the valleys, something which had to be done to fix the leaking problems. It included only one sheet of plywood replacement and it was clear from a visual inspection that more was needed. This bid would have grown dramatically once the shingles were taken off. -James Kleiner: His cards don't mention roofing but he is listed as a roofer and said he could do it but no roof was needed. He offered to go up on the roof and for $200 he would bang in some nails and that would be all I needed. I sent the photos to my brother in law who was appalled at this obviously false evaluation of the problem. Marrs Roofing : Bid was $980 and included banging in raised nails, removing the rotted boards that were obvious, some caulking and minor repairs in areas that were obvious. This would not have fixed the problems. Clark Building : The bid was $8,000 and included upper rear siding replacement. These guys were very nice and I thought about choosing them but their bid was not specific and it had too much "as required", "if necesssary" and "as needed" language in it and the cost would have increased once they started. They did seem to know what needed to be done ; they guaranteed their workmanship but not the results. Still, if there were no American Standard, they would have been a better option than the others. They did answer questions and were willing to communicate directly with my brother in law. SunGlo Services: The bid was $23,439 and included composite shingles. It listed every material to be used and the cost for each service. It also included $8,200 for siding. The estimator came out and he clearly knew what needed to be done to fix the problems but his bid left a lot of room for additional charges once the job had begun. There were two other bidders but the bids were not in writing and , for that reason, I do not include them here. The only other bid was American Standard Roofing. I chose them for obvious reasons: They knew what they were doing and they were honest.

After contacting a couple other companies I called American Standard Roofing to look at my Grandmothers roof. They came out and did a thorough inspection on her house, explained what needed to be done and provided us with a price. They were courteous and professional. Never once did they use any high pressure technics or scare tatics as the other 3 companies did to try and scare my 76 yr old Grandmother into doing her roof. We decided to use American Standard Roofing and could not be more happy. They did the job in one day, clean up was great and the entire project from the first shingle being removed to the last shingle being installed was painless and professional. We totally 100% recommend American Standard Roofing to anyone who is looking for a new roof.

Had some seepage in my dining room ceiling, basically a water stain in the corner. I was painting the area when plaster feel down and noticed it was damp. I am experienced in construction and knew it was probably a loose shingle or a flashing that need to be fixed. This is my son's house that he just bought and has a new buyer warranty that he could use for the repair. He is a disabled vet that is just out of the military and is in pre-med at Wayne State University. I am staying with him a couple months to help him remodel and upgrade his home. I did not have the ladder to get up on the roof to fix the problem myself so decided have it taken care of. I checked Angie's list for area roofers and American Standard seemed to have good reviews. I called them on a Monday and they said they could be out Friday to give a estimate for repair. They kept the appointment and were on time but here is the kicker. The representative drives up in a compact car and no ladder. You don't have to be a genius to know you need a ladder to inspect a roof. This told me something is not right, I think I just got a salesman and sure enough that is what took place. I showed him the stain and also that it was just damp and not dripping water. He said he need to go in back and take a look. When he came back he stated he could not repair the roof and could not give a warranty, but could put on a new roof. I told him was not interested in a new roof, this one still has a few years left in it. He started bad mouthing the roof saying in was a disaster in front and moulting and loose shingles in back...duh...yeah that is why I got the seepage. He proceeded to write a estimate for a new roof even when I told him I was not interested. He called his boss and told him how many squares need for to do the house, and then said to him he wanted a repair but...(I heard on the other end...no, no we won't do that), and the boss told him a price for a new roof. They came to the house thinking that they can fool me and sell me a new roof. No intention on doing a repair, and I wonder how many others they have done this too and those people paid allot for something they did not need. The reviews are good so maybe when they do the whole job they are good, but it is the dishonesty to get them to that point I have a problem with. I called other roofers on Angie's List, some called me back some didn't but the one I was impressed with was Mccormick Home service. He came out (with a ladder), and said it is only a few shingles that needed some tar and nailing back down . He did it for $150. right then. American Standard wanted $6400 for a new roof, I mean do the math. Also Greg took me back to his ladder and got up on roof and showed me exactly the shingles that needed to be fixed. He said probably blew up from the wind which I agreed. It only took him about 20 minutes to fix it. Make sure you get several estimates and that the person coming out is driving a vehicle with a ladder and actually gets up on your roof. If you need a new roof, fine, but if you don't be careful of being taken like American Standard tries to do. Let me be clear, the person sent to estimate repair did not have a ladder and did not get up on the roof to inspect it. The car he drove could only hold a step ladder. HIs ground inspection was extremely flawed but his main purpose as I stated was to sell me a new roof. They may not agree with this but my conclusion is correct. I am experienced in construction and I know what I am talking about.

Let me clearly state we at American Standard Roofing stand firmly strong to our commitment to honesty and quality. It seems you have pre-judged our company without us ever doing work for you. The condition of your roof did not seem conducive to do a repair. The technician on site did have a ladder and does not drive a compact car. Just because the other company charged you what you wanted to spend does not mean your problem has been solved. I hope your repair was successful but I also hope you realize your conclusions are incorrect.

As stated on previous reviews, there is not sufficient space to say all of the wonderful things about this company. Mike, our rep who we have worked with on other jobs gave us a quote for new roof and gutters on a rental property. We had a bad hail storm and the roof was older. There was obvious damage from the storm on the roof. I called my insurance company to check it out and they came out and reviewed it. In the meantime we let Mike (and Barb at the office) know what we were doing and asked if we needed to do anything special. They had experience with my insurance company and said they were very fair to their policy holders. My insurance company came back with a check/price that i thought was low for a new roof and gutters on 2 structures. (300 sq foot garage / 900 sq ft house) approximately $3,000 But like always, we called ASR, said this is what the insurance company gave us what are our options. They said they would do it within our budget. Not to worry. The renters did not have to be home. They had to keep their animals in the basement that day. Ehen they left and came home from work, they had a new roof and everything was cleaned up perfectly. Mike came back to pick up the rest of our payment and make sure we were happy. He also walked us through how and why we should keep all the warranty paperwork they send us because it is transferrable and will be a selling point. I know that many people have raved about Arnie, the owner. He did seem very nice and always followed up. We were just so happy with Mike and Barb that his professionalism took a back seat.

I just can't say enough positive things about this entire company. THEY ARE AWESOME. They were the second company we called for gutter quotes after a very poor first experience. The first company seemed to try and sell us a bunch of things we didn?t need or want. In addition they were about 3x higher than we thought the price would be. They also tried to tell us how to get a new roof, that we didn?t need. So when ASR was sending Mike out. I was quite ready to pounce right on him when he tried to upsell us on all the things we didn?t need. It would be an understatement to say I was defensive. Mike did not realize he was walking into the lion's den but it would not have mattered. He was so professional, patient and honest with us that we knew we would likely do business with them, if they were anywhere in the ballpark. He walked around the house and went on the roof. All in, took him about 20 minutes to scope things out. He quickly gave us an easy to understand quote for all new gutters and wood replacement where needed for $750. (was at least 2x less than our first quote) We then felt so comfortable with him we told him about our first experience whereby a sales rep had tried to tell us we could get a new roof by using some "tricks" with an insurance adjustor. He explained to us that sometimes that isn't a terribly uncommon practice to try and get insurance to cover a new roof but he did say that in his experience they didn?t try to show up with the adjustor unannounced and talk them into new things. To make us feel better about things he went back on the roof for us to look at it. Which, at this point was not necessary because he had no idea we were buying and that we would become life-long clients. He took an extra 20+ minutes looking around. When he came back down he said we did the right thing. He said our roof was in great shape and we shouldn't have any problems for at least another 7 years. At the time we received the estimates there had been a bad hail storm in the area so they were very busy. We would have never known this. Our gutters were installed perfectly within two weeks. We did not need to be home. We left for work and came home to brand new gutters. There was absolutely no mess and everything was cleaned up perfectly. Prior to scheduling the work, Mike came back out so that we could pick colors and give them a check. He said that we could put whatever we were comfortable with down and he would personally pick up the rest of the payment to check out the job and make sure we were happy. From start to finish, we never felt sold. We felt that Mike would tell us the truth about pricing and also about any real needs we had. I would recommend this company to my grandma. That is how safe, precise and good I think they are.
Description of Work: We had Mike come out and give us quotes on new gutters and replacing any rotten wood behind them. within a couple weeks from the quote, we had beautiful new gutters with replaced wood where needed.

I really liked them a lot. They gave me a low bid compared to some of the other ones that I had taken. And, at the end of the job, I had an issue with my gutter and they came out and replaced the gutters and in fact extended one of them farther than I had asked for no charge. I am very happy. This is probably one of the more satisfying experiences I have ever had dealing with an outside contractor. I have referred them verbally to other people.

I love this co. ! The pride and quality in their work was prevalent from start to finish. We had serious concerns of our failing roof because of the constant rain. The other cos. said maybe we can get to it in about 2 weeks. American Standard ( owner-Arnie Goodman ) gave us a quote on Sat. and they started and finished the roof and the rotted facia boards on Wed. . We wanted some boards replaced due to mold and mushy wood. they suggested replacing all the wood and upgrading to 1/2 inch from 3/8 inch boards. We were happy with this because the quote was less than the cos. who were just going to spot replace boards with the same 3/8 inch wood. They came back Thurs. to give us seamless gutters with 4 downspouts. Vinyl side the front of the house. They also sided all the trim on the outside of the house. The bottom line is they did great work! They came and completed when they said they would! The price was great! The people were nice and professional! The clean up was fantastic! I have already recomended American Standard ( owner- Arnie Goodman ) to 2 family members!
Description of Work: 1. replaced all boards on roof from a 3/8 inch board to a 1/2 inch board. 2. replaced shingles with architectural shingles ( Tamko Heritage ) color ( Virginia Slate ). 3. replaced all rotted wood on facia. 4. replaced gutters with seamless gutters and gave us 4 down spouts. 5. gave us aluminum facias and vinyl soffits. 6. the front of the house was sided with vinyl siding. 7. sided all the trim on the outside of the house. 8. gave us a ridge vent on roof.

I obtained 6 estimates for the work to be completed (mostly from highly-rated Angie's List vendors who definitely served the NE burbs). The least expensive estimate for all work to be completed was about $6,100 (Seal Tight) and the highest was Hansons at well over $12,000 for their "Econo Roof." I would have gone with the lowest bid (a neighborhood business), but American Standard offered slightly better materials and also had sufficient manpower to return and complete my time-critical job the following week (a key factor). I recieved a quick response to my quote request and like most of the other vendors, the work to be performed was laid out on a simple checklist with exceptions and additional work clearly noted. They showed up and performed the work in a timely manner (better part of two days to complete all work). The removal of old roofing material, application of drip edges, installation of ridge vents, additional soffit vents, underlayment and the new shingles all appear to have been done as well as would be expected. Only downside is the additional carpentry-type work I requested. I really should have hired an actual carpenter to perform this work, but my time frame and the difficulty of scheduling separate quotes and completion of the work led me to have the roofer do it. While the woodwork was completed, it was not of the highest quality (some boards a little askew, sloppily covered w/ caulking, etc). When I asked the gentleman about the appearance of the work, he replied "well, you're going to have the place painted and sanded anyway arent you?" My thought is that I shouldn't have to do a lot of prep on "new work." I had the opportunity to complain, but realized it probably wasn't worth my time since I didn't pay much additional for the woodwork and it was likely beyond the capabilities of the assigned worker to make it look much different. The work was probably done about as well as any "roofer" could do. Bottom line- I would, without reservation, recommend that if you need a roof, give American Standard a call. The roof looks great and so far, no leaks. The only caveat, in my humble opinion, would be that those who are picky and need additional woodwork around the roof assign that particular task to a carpenter. All in all, great roofing job by American Standard Roofing. Thanks Arnie et al.

The quote was competitive with the other two companies that quoted the job, and the work was done promptly, exactly per the quote, and the crew was courteous and professional. The clean up was excellent, and the finished roof looks superb. The company kept me well informed of the schedule, and I would recommend American Standard Roofing very highly.
Description of Work: American Standard Roofing did a complete tear off and re-roof on my ranch home and detached two car garage.

Absolutely excellent. Received the best quote, quality material and the installation team was top notch. The owner explained in detail the job requirements including technical details, he was at the job site each day to check and answer any questions, the installation team worked and cleaned up with absolute professionalism. This is one of the very few companies that you can leave alone and know the job will be completed as required.
Description of Work: Installed roof shingles and associated material as well as check roof for any repairs which were included in the quote.

Super job, American Standard Roofing. The quote was received the same day that I called them. Mike (senior estimator) met with me and clearly explained the services to be performed. After receiving 4 other quotes, I decided on ASR because of their 30-yr workmanship and parts warranty. Artie Goodman even beat the best quote I received. The permit was executed and paperwork was filed accordingly. Finally, I did not have to pay a deposit - Mike and Artie came by a second time and I just signed the dotted line to set up a date. Great planning. On installation day, the 4-man crew arrived at 8:30 and left at 6:15 with minimal interaction. The crew protected the AC unit, bushes, and other items on my property via tarps and plywood. They removed the shingles and replaced them with only a couple of breaks and were fast and professional in my opinion. A 4' x 8' plywood board was replaced for no additional charge. In fact, 6 boards can be replaced at no additional charge if I recall correctly. Mike came a couple times to inspect the insulation and to collect payment. I had no issues taking my family of 4 outside to watch portions of the installation. The dumpster-fitted truck was used for trash and a portion of the front yard was used for used gutters, vents, and other debris but as far as I could tell it went into the dumpster in the truck bed shortly afterwards. Excellent execution. Since I plan to stay in my home for a long time, I will continue to monitor shingle quality throughout the years but I am VERY impressed with ASR. Great quality shingles, excellent workmanship and labor warranty, and professional personnel. You can't go wrong with American Standard Roofing starring Artie and Mike!
Description of Work: Existing roof was torn off and new shingles were installed. At least one 4' x 8' plywood sheet was replaced. Gutters were extended. Ridge and soffit vents were added. Attic insulation was inspected. Magnetized cleanup was performed.

I liked the options that they gave us and they offered more for the money. The only complaint that I had with them was that they showed up two weeks late to start the work but they did finish the job quickly in two days.

Arnie and his team are on the ball,on top of it,proactive in a good way. Arnie is an incredible project manager and as long as you communicate with him your needs, he will ensure it is done. Arnie matched the best quote I received- I wanted to go with American Standard rather than the other company as Arnie seemed to have it much more together. There were 10 guys working on my roof and they got it done on a very hot day and finished by 2pm in order to beat rain forecast. Amazing! Finished gutters on another day. My new roof is absolutely beautiful and makes the house look a million times better. Arnie's team uses the latest techniques for good ventilation and they didn't skimp on the gutters- they extend far away from the foundation. Great experience- thank you Arnie!

I contacted Arnie through the Hire it Done web site. He was quick to respond and came out to our house to look at our current roof and talk through our options. We had two other contractors come out after Arnie, but neither of them had the quality of reviews that American Standard Roofing has, nor did they make us feel as comfortable with the whole process. I have 3 young kids at home and I needed to find a company that not only would do a great job on our roof, but also one that I did not have to worry about language or behavior issues with the crew around my kids. Arnie's crew showed up when they said they would and worked hard all day. In fact, they only took about a 30 minute break for lunch. Other than that, they worked non-stop, which seems hard to come by these days. After they were finished roofing, the entire crew worked to make sure every piece of material and nail were picked up. In fact, a couple of the guys were on hands and knees behind our bushes making sure everything was picked up. I do nearly all of our house projects myself, but the roof was not one I was willing to tackle. I couldn't be happier with the work American Standard Roofing has done and my overall experience with them. I had multiple neighbors come by to talk to me after the roof was done and ask who did the work. They couldn't believe how nice it looked, how quickly the crew worked and how much effort they put in to cleaning up after themselves. I passed out several of Arnie's cards already and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
