Response from American Outbuildings
I wasn't going to respond to this review by a person who didn't even do business with me because it was so polar opposite of any of my other reviews that anyone reading this would realize something wasn't quite right about this review. This person (a 20 year old) called and emailed me at least 5 times and discussed what he wanted, a very simple small shed with no options. He loved the price and everything I described about the shed. He asked me to come to his house Downriver on a Sunday but he wanted me to be "On Call" because he wasn't sure if he had to work. I explained that if he was ready to get signed up, I would keep my only day off free to come down and get the paperwork signed. He called in the AM and I said as soon as I finished my breakfast, Id leave and I should be there around noon. I was there at 12:06 (not a half an hour late). He showed me the site and I told him it was perfect, level and very accessible. I asked if he had any questions and his response was "when can you start?". We discussed a start date and I asked if he was ready to get signed up. "Absolutely" he said. we went into his house and I sat down at his table and wrote out the contract but after I was almost finished he mentioned that his friend was coming over the next day to bid on the job. I am very confused at this point so I ask him if should continue writing the contract or should I just give him a price quote for now. He's now looking as confused as me so I figure I'll just leave a price quote and I start to tell him a few things that our company does that most others don't and a few pointers to help him compare sheds. He stands up in front of his young wife and child, points at me and yells "You're pressuring me, get out of my house !!" I leave there wondering, what just happened? I don't think he planned on hiring us to do the job, that he was just getting free information and pricing so his friend could do it. He didn't realize that "getting signed up" meant signing a contract and putting down a deposit. The names he was called were all in his head- he actually went into a back room and never came out after he yelled to get out, leaving me with his wife and toddler. My educational background actually isn't in the construction field, its in Hospitality Management. Name calling wasn't part of the curriculum. I feel our customer service helps us stand out from the rest. Again, please read my other reviews to see a better representation of our company.
