We have been customers for many years. However, D&J has not responded to our emails and phone calls trying to schedule service for 2023. I can no longer recommend or use them.

Excellent. Received a call back very promptly and appointment was set up quickly due to my concern re: shower drainage slowing. Danielle (the technician) was excellent -- dug 3' deep (twice)bholes to localize the openings, explained what she was doing and how the system worked. Great attitude and work ethic. Sounds like a great small company. I highly recommend them. Spent $455 - well worth it.

I hired D & J to clean my septic tanks, and in short they were fantastic. The technician who was on the job was knowledgeable, and very quickly identified that the last company that we had hired to clear our tanks did a poor job - he took time to explain what we found, and why he believed they did a poor job (yet in a way to not "bad mouth" another company, but to make sure we knew what was important to maintain our septic system properly). Then he went above and beyond and spent nearly 2 hours working to get our tanks cleaned out. He also gave some other advice to help maintain our septic system. The listed price was more than fair....but on top of that he did not charge anything extra for the additional service/work and advice. I will absolutely be using D & J for our future needs, no question. Hire them, you won't be disappointed.

After opening the lid, we immediately realized the tank was not draining properly and was almost backing up into the house! I was provided a name of an inspector and told to minimize water use until our system could be further inspected. We had the inspector out the within a few days. Very thankful for all of their help and identifying a serious problem with our drainage system!

We were given a side-by side neighbors discount of $5.00 off and they had an online coupon off of $15. off. They gave us both taking the price from 230.00 to 210.00. We scheduled a day that was within 48 hrs. We were given a time of sometime between 8:30 am and 1:00/noon. They arrived at about 11:45am, went right to work. At they did the work the 2 men provided feedback on the condition of our tank and what we could do to take care of the septic system. A receipt was provided to each household. We paid by check. The workers were polite and focused.

They were extremely professional and did a great job.

This company was rated very high, but after leaving several messages and also filling out their online appointment via their website, I am very disappointed I never even received a call back. Very unprofessional!!!!

He was extremely honest and said that we could wait another two years to empty our septic tank. I really appreciate his honesty and not wasting my time and money.

I left 3 voice messages with the listed 248 phone number over a week's time. After the third message, I then called the 734 number plus entered an online contact inquiry via their website. I received a phone call later that day stating they aren't servicing Rochester (even though that is specifically listed on their website) and they "attempted to call me, but it just rang and rang" (except I never showed a missed call or received a voicemail). I don't believe they tried calling me and it's ridiculous it took 4 messages to 2 numbers plus an online inquiry for a call back. Also - this company is not listed on the Oakland County Health Division Licensed Onsite Sewage Disposal System Installer List (February 2015) - that means they are not licensed to do the work in Oakland County!

I've called numerous times in the past month and left voice messages about wanting to obtain a quote for installing an engineered field but no one has ever returned my call. Had my request been tank cleaning, I would've scheduled online, but the nature of my request requires that I speak with someone live. Just today, I submitted an inquiry via their contact form online. Will see how it goes and I'll adjust my rating accordingly. The company was regarded highly by our septic inspector, thus my trying continuously to reach them. Sigh. They finally replied today that they do not install engineered fields. I've adjusted my rating from D to B accordingly.

My husband and I tried to contact the company several times both via phone and e-mail and we never received any response back. The phone number only goes to voice mail; you don't speak to a human when you try to schedule (according to their website, because we live in North Oakland County, we are supposed to call to make an appointment). Very unprofessional.

I had D&J out to clean out my septic tank and inspect it for my newly purchased home. They were thurough and even offered advice on how often to get it pumped out as well as on how to minimize usage and issues.

The technician was professional, prompt and efficient. He was also a good source of proper maintenance advice. The price was good and comparable to other companies in the area for a two-tank, 1,500 gallon system. He pumped the sewage out while using a motored paddle to stir it up, ensuring total removal. Tank was thoroughly rinsed clean and careful inspection of the pipe from the house was performed. Job well done. Tip to all septic field users: Do yourselves a favor and have extensions and removable lids placed on your tanks. They're worth the initial investment. No guessing where the tanks are buried, no digging (at additional cost) and no damage to your yard.

I scheduled for 8-12, and they came at 9. They were here for about 40 minutes. The inspected both of my septic tanks. The first needed cleaning, but the second was only 10% solids and didn't need a cleaning. They were very prompt, quick, and professional.

The scheduling is very easy on-line. You get an e-mail confirmation of the appointment and a reminder e-mail prior to the appointment date. They were able to find all openings and dig them up. They pumped out, cleaned and inspected two tanks and cleaned the effluent filter. Everything I wanted done. They were on-time, friendly, and quick to get the work done. They answered all my questions and gave thorough feedback on the condition of the septic system. They even did a great job cleaning up and replacing the sod where they had to dig. Very happy with the service and reasonable cost.

They showed up promptly and pumped out the tanks right away. It took a few days for them to come back to replace the pump. I'm not wild about the plastic covers showing on my lawn. But I guess they provide easy access. Also, I needed to do a bit of raking and cleanup to get the lawn back in order. But as far as I can tell, the work was done properly and without too much delay. I would trust them to pump out the tanks again, especially now that access is much easier.

I agree with the person before my comment. I called them twice and left a message never got a response. Called Eldred and Sons and they responded immediately.

Two weeks ago I left a message for someone to call back to schedule an appointment. I gave two contact numbers. I never got a response even though their recording says they will respond within 48 hours. On Monday I filled out the 'schedule an appointment' form on their website giving phone numbers and also an email address. As of today, 5 days later, still no response. All the great reviews don't do any good if you can't get anyone to even call you back.

Last year I found D&J Septic Service through Angie's List and contracted them to pump out my septic system because of their great reviews. They came out, did the pumping, and discussed the situation with my septic field. I had some concerns about the condition of my field and the driver who was here was very helpful. So this year, when I decided to have my system pumped again I called for an appointment with D&J again. The wait time until the service could do the job was about 2 weeks. As it turned out the day they were scheduled to pump, I couldn't be here, but I had no worries as I knew they were dependable. They were supposed to be here between noon and 2PM and I waited until after 130PM when they still had not arrived. I had to resort to using a contractor working in my house who was to see to it that D&J got my check and I ask that they leave their truck on the street as my tank is in my front yard. When I got home I was surprised to see that the tank still had a surprising amount of fluid in the tank and there were oil drippings on my asphalt driveway. I called D&J about it and they said that they were sorry but could not afford to stay here for an hour and wait for all the drainage out of the field. When I pay somebody $280 to pump my system, I would think that an hour would not be asking the extreme. ( I doubt however that it would require an hour) Heck, I could get a plumber to stay here for $280 an hour. In their defense, they did offer to come back out and pump the tank again but they did not say they would do it for what I had already been billed and I didn't really want my driveway exposed to more of their oil drippings. They didn't offer any remedies for that. Needless to say, I don't think I would recommend these guys to anyone who wants their system thoroughly cleaned and as you can guess, I'm not a very satisfied customer.

We've used D&J twice and have found them to be responsive, professional, and prompt each time. They cleaned our septic tanks out last summer and came back recently to replace the cover on our tank which had been damaged by a mower. Jake even offered a used but like new cover to help keep our costs down.

Keith arrived on time for the scheduled service, he was punctual and very responsive He uncovered the tank lids (we have a 1500 gallon tank with two openings) and I was immediately impressed with how careful he was in the care of the grass. He brought tarps to put the soil on and carefully cut the sod out over the tanks and set them carefully aside. He cleaned both sides of the tank and checked the sediment (solids) level and used a tool to agitate the waste to make sure he got everything from the bottom of the tanks. He was able to check the amount of solids and the flow and was very thorough and concered wth the appeance of the yard and properly cleaning up after he dug the openings out. It cost an extra $50 (included in my cost of $380.00) to uncover the tanks and remove the lids. He explained things to me about the septoc system, the drain field, potential warning signs, etc. He put the soil and sod back in place very carefully. He was very thorough, professional and courteous. I have already scheduled the next cleaning (2017) and can't say enough about how pleasurable it was do do business with them.

This is the first time we've owned a house with a septic tank so the only thing we knew was that it needed to be pumped. We had no idea how often or what kind of maintenance would be required. Everything was explained thoroughly and professionally. We have a much better understanding of how the system works and what we can do to extend the life of it.

Prompt arrival, despite the pouring rain, diligently searched for tank caps in wretched White Lake soil which is 100%rock and 10% dirt (LOL). Carefully dug up caps and put dirt on tarps. Explained the condition of the tank and possible issues to look out for in the future. Suggested a schedule for future cleaning. All done in about an hour. The tech was very professional and friendly. Would recommend and use service again. Price was competetive with others in area.

Jake arrived on the day that was scheduled. He was very professional and informative. I had no idea that we had 3 covers to our tanks. The third tank had never been looked at by my previous cleaner! Jake dug up the third hole, no charge. When finished he explained what he did. He recommended I get the tanks cleaned every three years. This was a ver pleasant experience. Will always use D & J!!!
