Student Painters

Description of Work: Deck refinishing and minor repair Slick presentation signed contract , month goes by, after down payment, Brian called and said he was having trouble hiring enough people. Also, he wanted to paint my house. Later that evening he said the deck job was not profitable enough so he would return my down payment . The cost of the job was around $1000.00 A bad way to run a business!

Description of Work: I contracted Student Painters to powerwash & stain coat/protect my deck. It took 2 phone contacts to get someone out for an estimate. When the person came to do the powerwash, he used my soaker hose, and it looked worse when he finished than before he started! I contacted Student Painters & was told that someone would be in touch with me. A week later, after I had done the wash myself, I was contacted. I did not pay them, and was not contacted again.

Description of Work: Student Painters manager, Kyle Principe, came to my home and spoke to me about the estimate on the job of painting the house's exterior and doing the necessary wood siding, door trim, fascia trim and garage trim. He put the separate garage siding and fascia to be done along with the house and fix the shutters before painting them which was all done as promised. The work was all done over 3-4 days and all the trash and garbage was cleaned up after they were done. The house was power washed before painted with Sherwin Williams super paint and the house looks great, along with the detached garage that was done.

Description of Work: My contact attempt turned out unsatisfactorily. I called on a Monday and talked to a receptionist who couldn't tell me if the company serviced my area. She said she would check with a manager and call me back. On Wednesday, not having received a call, I called them again. This time the receptionist said my area was covered and would give my phone number to the rep. I did get a call from that person the same day. We set an appointment for him to come on Friday to give me an estimate. On Thursday, I got a voice mail from him saying "something had come up" and he would need to reschedule. He left his number, apparently putting the responsibility on me to pursue a new date. My problems with this company: First: why don't the receptionist know the coverage areas? Second: While I don't need a completely detailed explanation, "something came up" is not a professional way to explain a missed appointment. Also, he gave no indication that he would take responsibility to call back to reschedule. I am now in the process of contacting other painters.
