Quick and efficient

They removed part of a wood kitchen floor that had rotted. The problem apparently was caused by a poorly installed alarm that allowed water to come inside through holes that had been drilled into the door jamb and the floor. They did the work in half a day. They took the floor out and were very careful with the tile because I am not ready to redo my kitchen so they were able to put the tile back down without me having to worry about re-flooring. They replaced all of the wood and molding then went out, matched the paint on the wall and molding then repainted; it looks perfect. I called them about another job and I guess a lot of people are accessing them because they are booked through September.

We did not hire them but they were good. They never got back to us with a specific offer. I don't think they wanted to take the project on because it was too big. I possibly may use them again in the future.

Overall excellent job

Excellent job. Professionally done. Completed on time as estimated. Good people to work with. Also did a recent tile/wood floor repair in our laundryroom and it went equally as well and was very reasonable. Highly recommend this company.

The overall experience was somewhat mixed, but acceptable. The owner, Cameron, is very pleasant, responsive and easy going. He did all of the plumbing work himself but most of the other work was performed by a job foreman. Although the basic layout of the bathroom was unchanged, we requested that they tear everything down to the studs and start from scratch. I find that there are 2 key components to overall performance: Effort and Skill. With JCJ, the effort was very good. The problem was that all of the workers (and the owner) are quite young and inexperienced. For example, they accidentally mixed my hot/cold water pipes, causing us to lose hot water for several days. A new hot water heater did not remedy the problem until we had a technician come out. He knew instantly (with in 30 seconds) what the problem was. The workers lacked skill in creating smooth drywall and paint surfaces. Additionally, they did a very sloppy job caulking the tub and faucet. However, they did work very hard and the overall product looks okay if you don't look too closely. For simple jobs, they should be fine. I would be careful in hiring them for very complicated work or retrofitting an older home. The workers were polite and easy going.

Their pricing was very reasonable and they were very professional and very prompt. We would use them again for any work such as a basement remodel. The pricing was what attracted me the most compared to three other prices we got. They were in the middle range, but the way they wrote their contract and what they would do and how long it would take. We like they way they broke down the contract and that impressed us. We would highly recommend them to others.

The project started on time with all necessary materials on site. We cleared out our garage to allow for set-up of tools and equipment and storage of materials. The only delay resulted from the need to order additional trim pieces for cabinet intallation. The project took a bit longer than the original estimate. The cost exceeded the origianl estimate but only because of changes to the plan and upgrades we added as we went along. There was good communication between the craftsmen, contractor and us throughout the project. For the most part the work area was kept neat and orderly throughout the demo and remodel. Since we were living in the basement while during the project, JCJ was very thoughtful of our comfort and piece of mind. We are very pleased with the result. There have been only a few problems with various items since completion. So far all problems were resolved satisfactorily within a few days.
