Chip (Charles) Riggie the owner of M.B.S. was hired to build our pole barn, do excavating work and concrete. He said and posted on their website and Facebook that they don't contract out any services. Work wasn't completed because of breach of contract and lose of confidence. We hired M.B.S. March 2013 to build our pole barn starting date was supposed to be around May 6th. We gave them the down payment in March and in April the building material payment. We were told that they would be ording the material right way and we should expect the material delivered in 2 weeks. After they received our money they would only communicate through text. We called them several times. They finally text in June and said it should be next week and they asked us to have patience. Now it is July, afraid we lost our money and several unanswered phone calls, we met them at their place of business. When we asked him what was going on with our pole barn we were told that he spent our money on other peoples materials for their pole barns that were before us. He said that they were low on cash flow right now and didn't have any money to buy the materials for our pole barn. So we had to wait for other people to put money down on their pole barn to build ours. At this point we thought of hiring an attorney but new if we would have taken him to court we would have lost all of our money. ( You can't get water out of a stone). So we sat back and prayed, hoping in the end we would get our pole barn. By mid July we finally had holes and poles set for the frame. It was always different workers and they would come for a few hours a day a couple days a week. There wasn't quality control, the M.B.S. owner was never on the property. I had to show them their mistakes and made sure they fixed the correctly. Several weeks went by and little by little our barn was built, with may text full of promises and all kind of excuses why the work wasn't getting done in a timely matter. Always, the text would end with thank you for your patience. Mid September the barn was almost completed and we received a text asking us for more money because they missed quoted us on the concrete and that they could not eat the additional $4,000.00 it would cost to do the concrete. (There was no way we were going to give them another dime). Without the extra money they wouldn't do our concrete at all. They said that they would have to contract out the concrete. Even though they said they don't contract out anything. They had fill brought in and told the contractor to bill us directly. After having someone else come in and finsh the few things that needed to be done on the pole barn and someone to do the excavating we were told that the fill M.B.S had ordered and brought in had to be removed from the inside of our pole barn because there were very large pieces of concrete, asphault and rocks. So we have to pay for someone to sift through the fill to remove the chunks. We later found that the employees repeatedly defecated by our wook pile and utterly disregarded our property. Needless to say we had to hire an attorney to termnate our contract before the rest of the pole barn was built, excavating and concrete was completed. The work that was done wasn't quality and they bought some of the cheapest material and windows they could by with their "cash flow money" as they call it. He posted this on his M.B.S. facebook page but since removed it. This is only a part of what he wrote word from word of what he posted. "Our schedule will be changing to meet our customer's attitudes. If you continue to be flexable and patient as we make these changes, your pole barn will go up first. If you began to be impatient, are involved in this "mob" or treat us other then the way you want to be treated, your pole barn will be put up last on our schedule. I wouldn't recomment this company to anyone.

During the initial quote process the representative was quick to answer phone calls or emails and provided new qritten quotes for any changes or additions I did asked for. After signing the contract and agreeing on a estimated starting date as well as a estimated timeframe of 2 to 2 1/2 weeks for completion of the project the waiting started. The company started 5 weeks late with the build and it took them 13 weeks to complete the job. During the construction time the crew usually came in at 10 to 10:30 AM and left around 3 PM making sure they headed out for lunch around noon. There were plenty of days where no one showed up and the crew members did change often. In hindsight the 13 weeks of completion are easy to understand with the short and few days worked and when taken into account that the next crew needs to figure out where the last one left off. During this period it was very difficult to reach a representative of the company. They liked to use text messaging as a form of comunication which is not my thing and takes much longer to discuss the progress of the project than if the would answer the phone and talk to you for 5 minutes. When, which happend I think twice in the 13 week period, I finally choose to write them an email and tell them that I'm disappointed I would get the most unprofessional answers back which were almost amusing. Since most of the excuses I would get for the slow progress evolved somewaht around the fact that the business was growing so much that they had a hard time to keep up it was almost comical to get a respond that she ( wife of the owner ) didn't had a 9 to 5 job and therefore couldn't be reached all the time - during business hours. Anyway towards the end I was just looking forward to the finish that I didn't had to wait for them any longer. My timing was srewed up anyway and I couldn't change that anymore. I finally got a belated Christmas gift when they finally were done on 12/27/2012. In the meantime a storm took some of the shingels off the roof and I got a certified letter in mail informing me that the concrete contractor from whom I never heard of before claimed a lean on my property since my builder choose to not pay the bill for the concrete although I payed the contract in full. The response from the builder included mostly the assurance that this is only to be able to sue him - that the lean is on "my" property didn't seem to bother him. The attitude which how he handled the situation was very disappointing and do not convince me that he will take care of the concrete bill in the near future. The owner seems to do a better job searching for web domains, which wll get him the most hits when someone searches for pole barns in Michigan, and changing the content of his website as to managing the jobs he actually scores and is being hired for. I would never go with this company again and would certainly advise someone against the use of this company. This is mostly for the poor unprofessional conduct than for the work they did which wasn't so bad. The response to the blown off shingels was positive and guaranteed repair but the resolution seems now questional after the discussion about the lean came up.
Description of Work: Michigan Building Supply, which also operates or did operate as Busy Beaver Builders, was hired to build a Pole Barn. They supplied the materials and did build the barn. Against the statement on their website they subcontracted the gutters and concrete.
