Remodeling Specialties/Fred Sons is a family owned and operated local business with over 14 years of industry experience. I opened Remodeling Specialties because I saw a need for an honest, fair, and detailed remodeling company in our Michigan community. I am a very creative worker with a passion to make houses beautiful, functional and personal. I started working on older houses, but my passion has turned into re-creating any style of house to bring it new life. I have an art background that will add a unique and fresh perspective to your personal remodeling visions. I am personally involved with each and every customer from start to finish. We are an excellent remodeling company for Angie’s List members because of our attention to detail and our honest work ethic. Services we don't offer

Handyman services, appliance repair, roofing, heating and air conditioning, electrical and plumbing work. We have subcontractors that do this work.

Unfortunately we did miss this call, and I apologize. And I agree that two days is a bit too long to wait for a call back. As a rule we return calls within 24hrs. I want to do as much business as I can, so it is not in my interest to ignore potential clients. Some may think that they are being ignored out of disrespect, but that is not the case. We have a high volume of calls and e-mails from Angie’s List. And, like you, we are busy at work and with our personal lives. Please, in the unusual event that you do not hear from us within a couple of days, simply call back and we will be more than happy to make your project our priority.

Description of Work: 1. Wobbly faucet in kitchen fixed. 2. Two bathroom faucets installed: This was the major part of the expense. There was a problem with the new faucets fitting into my old cast iron sinks. Fred asked me if I wanted him to adjust the sink by drilling or get different faucets. We decided to go with the adjustment, which took longer than expected. He did both faucets concurrently in case he needed more parts, which he did and ended up going to Home Depot twice anyway. The traps and pipes under the sink needed updating per Fred, which I wasn't surprised about because they were pretty old. He charged the full hourly rate for the time he went to Home Depot.. He spent a total of 5 hours doing the work (which included about an 1 1/2 hours of drilling through the cast iron.) The labor came to 264.00 and the parts he purchased came to 55.00, which I wish I would have asked to look at the receipt for. I additionally spent 120.00 dollars on the Delta faucets (60.00ea). So I ended up spending alot more than I ever expected to. Fred was professional, polite, helpfull and effecient. He worked very hard and quickly. He seemed genuinely interested in doing an excellent job which he did. I have had no problems with any of the faucets.

He failed to keep the appointment.
Description of Work: I called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate for a remodeling job based on his rating on this website. He was a complete no show. He failed to keep the appointment and never followed up with me.

SOMETIMES I HAVE TROUBLE HEARING WHEN USING MY CELL PHONE. THE MEMBER GAVE ME HER INFORMATION AND I WAS CONFIDENT I HAD IT RIGHT, BUT WHEN I LOOKED UP HER ADDRESS ON MAPQUEST IT WAS INVALID. I CALLED HER TO VERIFY AND THE NUMBER WAS WRONG. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR HER NAME, NO LUCK. I DROVE TO FERNDALE TO LOOK FOR STREETS THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE STREET NAME SHE GAVE ME, NO LUCK. I HAD HOPED THAT SHE WOULD CALL ME WHEN I DIDN'T SHOW UP BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I AM SORRY THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE I WAS SINCERELY INTERESTED IN THE JOB. AND IN THE FUTURE, I WILL REQUIRE CONTACT INFO VIA EMAIL.
