It’s been 4 years since our kitchen cabinet refacing install and I still have a spike of anger anytime I walk into my kitchen and see the poor quality of our cabinets. Just to be fair, here are the positives: the designer was very kind, the workers were very kind, and with the lifetime warranty, they have to come back and paint over the mistakes when the old paint chips away due to using the worst hinges. Here are the bad parts: Scott Curd - project manager - gaslit me anytime anything went wrong on their end (which was often), including calling me OCD for wanting what they agreed to deliver, and threatening to cease work if I didn’t do what he wanted. Customer Service - scheduling was a nightmare, thought they were coming in November 2019, only to be told the tear out would be 12/26 and install 1/2/2020. So I had no kitchen over the holidays. I could let that go. A few cabinets showed up cut incorrectly. Bullying tactics were used when I wouldn’t except the defects. Ran out of char

I can’t recommend them. Eventually the kitchen was mostly finished. Unfortunately many missteps along the way (forgot to complete crown molding, forgot to order tile, didn’t get enough tile, no shows for work scheduled -just to name a few). I had to follow up to get things done and it still took over 4 months (cabinet painting, backsplash, sink, countertops).

We had a phenomenal experience working with Kurtis Kitchen and Bath for our bathroom and kitchen renovation. We started at the Royal Oak showroom with designer, Lauren Cuadrio. She used software to take our ideas and design the new rooms while we watched on a monitor at her desk. It was so cool to see the possibilities take shape, and Lauren readily understood what we wanted. The first room design she drafted for our kitchen made me gasp because it was like she read our minds. Lauren also walked us through the selection process, where we picked all of our new décor, and then handed things off to the project manager, Scott Curd. Scott was like our renovation warrior. He made sure the work was going according to schedule, and that things were being done right, and to our liking. Scott was on site frequently, answering questions, addressing concerns, and generally assuring the work kept on pace to completion. He was our single contact point for everything related to the work in our home, and that made it easy for us to make sure it all went well. Any questions we had, we just called Scott, and he took care of the details. Another factor that made the process easy was the use of the “Buildertrend” app, where we were able to see the complete work schedule for the renovation, as well as approve any changes that came about once the work started. We downloaded the app on our phones and PC, and knew what to expect on each day during the renovation. Kurtis Kitchen and Bath kept to that schedule, and the work was completed when we expected. The contractors who did the actual work were all friendly and polite, and worked as neatly as they could. Both our bathroom and kitchen are just gorgeous! We got exactly what we wanted, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Many thanks to Kurtis Kitchen and Bath for their top notch service and extremely efficient renovation process. We wholeheartedly recommend their services!!

We went to Kurtis Kitchen and Bath looking for cabinets as we were finishing our basement and adding a bar. Justin O'Brien did a fantastic job working with us to layout a design for our bar and get us cabinets that fell within the price range we were looking for. We will definitely go back for our next project!

Excellent design and project management was provided.
After a less-than-wonderful experience with another contractor I hired Kurtis to do my second bathroom. The experience was like night and day. Brian, the manager at the Royal Oak location was wonderful. Todd, the project manager, was knowledgeable. thorough and patient with all my questions.
very well-- company was professional-- cleaned up after work was done followed a schedule respectful of our home and polite good to work with

During initial call, we spent time talking about goals for kitchen and bath remodels. He scheduled site visit for the following week -- seven days later. On morning of appointment, he called to reschedule for one week later. The week passed and he did not take two minutes to call and cancel -- just did not show up. Big waste of my time.

Response from Kurtis Kitchen & Bath - Royal Oak
We can only apologize for this unacceptable experience. There is no good explanation or excuse for this ever to happen. And in fact, the salesperson you are speaking about has been our leading salesperson for the last 3 years in a row; small consolation for you, however. I can tell you that a family member of his was hospitalized for some period of time and he missed a good deal of work this Spring. At the same time, he should have handed your project off to a co-worker in order to help you expedite matters. Again, our apologies.

To save money, I did my own cabinet removal and demolition, and they have done everything else. All of the subcontractors have been punctual and professional. We had only one change order that cost us some extra money, but everything else has been in line with the estimate. Very happy with the result and very happy with Kurtis.

I wouldn't recommend the company. I have a feeling other branches of this company do good work, but the staff here appear to be lazy and unprofessional.
Description of Work: I have tried to work with this company before (about 4 years ago). In 2010, I actually made an appointment to come into their showroom and go over options for a kitchen remodel. A drawing was done on a computer but the salesperson. But when I made phone calls to follow up on that appointment, my phone calls were not returned. I never followed through on the remodel and now, 4 years later, I called Kurtis once again and left a message requesting an estimate. This time, they didn't even call back to schedule an appointment.

The designer at Kurtis in Waterdord offered to meet with my wife and I to determine approx. costs to remodel 2 existing full baths. We provided demensions on both baths and what we were proposing to do.We met for about 2 hours and went over products, suggestions and ideas. It was determined to be about $30,000 dollars. Although this was a rough estimate, this appeared to be at the high end of our budget based upon other estimates we have gotten. We are waiting on one more estimate. The folks there were professional and very helpful throughout the process. I would consider using them in the future.

It went very well. We walked into the Royal Oak store just to get ideas for our kitchen makeover, and to get a sense for what it would cost. We had already met with a custom contractor, who had estimated the cost of a full makeover at about $30,000. : We met with Justin O'Brien, who sat down with us and described the process, and our options, in detail. We would be able to save a lot of money by putting some sweat equity into the demolition of our existing kitchen, and by intelligent selection of the product we'd put into the new one. : Justin came out to the house and looked at our existing kitchen. We discussed our ideas for the new layout, and he made a few suggestions that made a lot of sense, that we incorporated into the design. We ended up with more useful counter space, more floor space, and more storage space, than we had had in the older kitchen. : We put a lot of sweat into the makeover. We demolished the old kitchen, right down to plaster and 60 year-old subfloor. We rented the dumpster to haul all the old stuff away. We contracted with the plumber, electrician, and flooring guys. This added time to the project schedule, but saved us a lot on contractor fees. Justin provided advice on timing of the various pieces - cabinets before floors, floors before appliances (especially the dishwasher). : The installation of the cabinets took only a couple of days, and the work went smoothly. There was a little bit of a glitch with the counter tops - the granite we had selected at Kurtis was no longer in stock at the granite supplier, so we had to pick an alternative pretty quickly. Perhaps Kurtis should have checked with the granite supplier for availability before showing us the granite samples - an arguable point, but not worth quibbling over. : Overall, it was a very successful makeover. It took longer than we would have liked, but that's because we put a lot of our own effort into the job to save cost. Kurtis met their promise, and even came in under their initial cost estimate. The entire job cost about $17,000, but that included flooring, paint, drywall compound, dumpster rental, etc. - Kurtis's portion of the cost was much less than that. : Not sure I'd want to do as much work on my next renovation, and I'm not sure that Kurtis would be as competitive on an entire makeover job as they were on just the cabinets and countertop, but for what I needed them to do they were terrific.
Description of Work: Provided design assistance, cabinets and counter tops for a complete kitchen make-over.

It started off well. We were shown drawings of a project they had completed recently that appeared to be roughly the same complexity and size of ours. The in-home meeting took 2-3 weeks longer to conduct that we were originally led to understand. We both took time off from work to meet with the designer and the contractors in our home but it ended up only being the designer again. After a couple more weeks, we were finally informed they were going to pass on the project. It would likely require an egress window and I suspect they just weren't comfortable with the level of complexity. I am very glad they eventually passed if they were in over their heads, just a bit disappointed it took so long to figure it out.
Description of Work: We requested assistance with a Kitchen and basement bathroom and laundry room renovation and met at their design office to discuss the project. A second meeting in the home to capture measurements took place roughly a month later.

I made an appointment, and we talked for about an hour about isntalling a new kitchen. He gave me a catalogue and a brochure about on the financing process. That information was helpful. We made another appointment and he came out to my house to do some measurements. I saw him April 18 and we went over the layout on his computer, but I was not allowed to take the layout with me. They do not give it to you until you decide to use them for your work. He described everything and was able to come up with an estimate, which he printed out and gave to me. I was pleased with the estimate he gave me. There is only one salesman at that store right now, so it did make his responsiveness just a little bit slower. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of the products though.

I went to Kurtis to see about getting my kitchen design, I made it clear, that I needed this done in a hurry. I thought, that they could give me some idea, of how much it would cost. They wanted me to measure my kitchen, something I wasn't to comfortable with, I thought that they would do that. But I went home and measured it the best I could. Came back the next day, thinking maybe now, I would get some idea of the cost, instead I was told it would take a week to design a kitchen. I kept saying, that I needed this done as soon as possible, I didn't understand why it would take so long, I didn't see why she couldn't have done it while I waited. I was thinking about going somewhere else, but because she was telling me that they could do the kitchen, get appliances and update the electrical and that she would try to keep it around $8000. I decided to give her a try and wait the week for the kitchen design. What a mess, after waiting a week, the kitchen design was like something a 2 year old did, no way it took a week to do this design, not only that but the cost ballooned, to close to $12000 and the design didn't even look nice. By the kitchen window, she had one cabinet on the right and a big blank space on the left, she told me that she couldn't get a cabinet there, even though the cabinet next to the blank space was really big, I don't see why she couldn't make that one smaller to fit another one near the window, so that the space gap wasn't so big. But she said it couldn't be done, even though I talked to someone else who was able to do it, also the former home owner was able to do it. It was clear to me that Kim wasn't even trying to make this design work, I just hate I wasted a week waiting on this company, I could have spent that time looking for someone who really wanted this job. They had a bath tub surround that I really liked, I was thinking about letting them do my bathroom, after the kitchen, but after this, I'll find a bath tub surround that I like from someone else, I won't be back to Kurtis kitchen and bath.

I was satisfied with the end result, but felt our communications could have been better. After the installation, we noticed a few things we would have liked a little differently and felt that the salesman should have informed us about these points before we made our decision. We didn't mind though, the work was done right and they cleaned up well when they were done.
