Dealt with Dan from Grow Earth. Showed up every time, and on time, for each appointment. Did a total lawn removal front and back and replaced with sod. Always returned calls, did the work when they said they would, did a great job and the new lawn looks great. What more can you ask for. Would recommend to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed total lawn in both front and back of house and replaced sod.

Manu and his crew are professionals in every sense of the word. His crew did our spring cleanup, edged all our beds, installed mulch, and raked and seeded the area in our back yard. We definitely would use him again and highly recommend him.

I was in a bind in that my riding mower broke and with an acre of yard and all the rain, the grass was getting out of control. I called 6 different companies and Earth Grow was not only the only one to respond, but he managed to get a crew out the next day to cut through what had become a jungle. They are still here as I'm typing this and I couldn't be happier! I would recommend Earth Grow to anyone who would listen.

Manu and his men were efficient and they did a good job. The work was done in a timely manner, although there were delays secondary to the poor weather. However, Manu called about the need for delay and to reschedule. I found him very reliable. During the time he was working, he checked with me to verify what I wanted done in the yard, as well as checking with me when he was finished to state that they would return if I wasn't satisfied. However, I was very satisfied. Manu demonstrated his expertise by offering suggestions for improvement of the yard and garden. Manu was very polite and professional throughout. I felt that his price was reasonable, falling in the same range as others I had contacted.
Description of Work: Manu and his men performed the spring clean up of my yard and landscaped flower and plant bed area, as well as enlarging my vegetable garden area and preparing the soil for planting by turning the earth and removing grass and weeds. He removed the plastic edging I had at the end of my flower and bush bed, and replaced it by digging a trench. He also cut the lawn.

Owner responsive and thorough. Prices were very fair. I chose the mulch and he looked for nearby suppliers to my location Showed up early, reviewed the scope of the work, and finished the job. Delivered and installed 7 yards of mulch around house and in the back. He and his crew weeded, layed down the preen I bought, and the mulch. Good work ethic. Gave me update as job progressed. Worked mulch into and around plants (also distributed appropriately with rakes and by hand), not just dump and move on. Finished in about 4 hours with three workers. No mulch where it wasn't suppose to be, very clean edge work. Ensured he cleaned up the work area.

They have ut our grass weekly for two years. They show up as scheduled and do a great job. Their price is very fair, and I really like that we can call to cancel a week if the grass does not need to be cut. We also hired them to do basic landscaping at our old house before we put it on the market. Again, great service and price. I liked that Manu was conservative in what he wanted to do, trying to save us money along the way. Most recently, we used Grow Earth for fall clean up/leaf removal at our new house. The job was larger than expected and they had more loads of leaves than expected, but the team did a great job. We plan to use Grow Earth for future landscaping and lawn maintenance. I highly recommend them.

The guys were polite and kept the area relatively clean. They were also kind enough to dig out my underground sprinkler heads upon request.
Description of Work: They were hired to lay new sod in the front and back yards. About 10 - 14 days before digging up old debris they sprayed both areas with weed killer to ensure a minimum of regrow. After 2 weeks the crew returned and dug up old yard and graded both areas with new soil before laying the new sod.

The lawn was cut however almost everyweek I had to call the owner and complain of the cleanup of their work after cutting the lawn. I have worked with other lawn company's in the past and you would expect that the crew would blow all areas of the walk ways and driveway after cutting the lawn. They missed several areas or just blew everything in the street and left it there. I had to take several pictures and ask the owner to come out and finish the work. Normally when I hire someone to do this work is because I dont have the time to do it myself. I found myself managing this every week.

Member, Thank you very much indeed for taking the time and trouble to share with us your valuable feedback. It is only through constructive feedback as yours, I am able to monitor and improve the services we offer at Grow Earth. Sir, I agree you called me twice to clean your street off leaves that were left not blown. A crew was sent within the hour of your call, and we cleaned everything. However, in no shape or form the leaves should have ever been piled and left on the street, and I am truly sorry for that. It’s always our endeavor to meet and indeed exceed client expectations, and I truly regret that this was not the case, on this occasion. I sincerely hope you will give us another chance, in the not too distant future to regain your trust in our service. Should I be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly. Sincerest Regards, Manu Sood (Owner ) 248-420-4630

Manu was very nice to work with he suggested options that would help me to save money on my job and those savings helped to pay for the plantings. He stopped by after the job was complete at least two times to see how the plantings were taking root. And he has offered to winterize the new plantings as well. Job completed in one day and the everything was cleaned up afterwards.

We had a very good experience with Grow Earth. We had new sod laid twice by other companies in the past 15 years only to have it fail within a few years. Manoo and Dan surveyed our yard and took several soil samples. Through testing they were able to determine that our soil lacked sufficient nutrients for grass to thrive. They applied new top soil with added nutrients and new sod. The new sod is thick and beautiful looking. They always responded within minutes to any of my texts or phone calls. They were very concerned that that we were pleased with their work. We are very pleased with Grow Earth and would highly recommend them.

Grow Earth provided a quote after reviewing my front lawn. Upon approval from me they proceeded to schedule the work and were very good about letting me know the process and duration of work as well as instructions for after the installation. Good communication, easy to get a hold of, firm on their word, punctual and professional. My new front yard looks great and the work went smooth and seamless. No issues. The guys from Grow Earth gave me a very reasonable estimate on taking out my old back yard lawn, grading the dirt and putting in new sod. I hired them for the work and am very pleased that I did. They were very professional and did excellent work. I would highly recommend them for any landscape work.
Description of Work: Grow Earth began by spraying the yard with an herbacide to kill off the old lawn and ground cover. After the yard died off, they came back and plowed up the yard and plants. They then added in new dirt and graded the yard. Finally they laid down new sod.

We were in a hurry to get sod down before winter. I received several estimates and decided to go with Grow Earth for several reasons: they were reasonably priced (but not to the point where I was concerned about quality), I had friend's recommend them, and Angie's list recommended them. It didn't hurt that Manu was quick in responding, was professional and acted with my best interest in mind. I plan on calling them in the future for any landscaping needs I may have.

I found the company via Angies list and made the call. The date for the service was delayed slightly due to their workload and my schedule. The crew came by and rototilled the lawn and then raked it out. Some of the residue was used for leveling the ground. The crew returned about a week later and started putting down sod immediately, I spoke with Manu and he had them rework the ground, remove part of the lawn that they did not remove, they then cut the roots that were exposed and laid the sod down. The crew was about six or seven guys and most seemed pretty young and inexperienced. The sod that was left over was placed in my back yard to cover thin areas. A few days later when I turned on the sprinkler system, I noticed that the sprinkler head near the sidewalk was leaking. I called Manu and while he did not believe that his crew caused the leak he did try to make the repair. It was apparent that they lay sod and that they do not repair sprinklers systems as a part of their main work. The sprinkler still leaks and it is way too high out of the ground. I contacted another company to make the repair. I noted that I would hire them again - that's if it's just lawn work. Manu was cooperative and friendly.
Description of Work: I had the front lawn replaced, approx. 40x25. The old lawn was rototilled, raked up and then new sod put down about a week later.

Manu, the young man who is the owner of Grow Earth is a very nice and soft spoken young man. Unfortunately, I believe he took on much more than he was capable of with my job. To begin with, when I met with him on a couple of different occasions in early spring, we walked through the yard discussing the various items that needed to be addressed and although he agreed with me on the scope of what needed to be done, he did not take notes. For example, I had asked that along the berm that all the old edging be removed and that the new edging and line of the berm follow the curved design of the original. When I returned home when that portion of the job was complete I found that my formerly curved edging was now a severe straight line. Later, I noticed that under the newly installed mulch, was my old edging still in the ground, poking up. Manu wasn't able to change the straight line design of the berm, however after two separate tries, they finally did remove the old edging. The next issue was the "spruce" trees he planted (turned out to be hemlock trees, which wasn't exactly what I had envisioned, but I guess it is OK - however if I was to do this again, I would be more specific as to what type of spruce trees, especially when there are 9 of them). Several of the trees were leaning quite badly and two of them had roots exposed. They did come back and stake a couple of the trees, however I finally hired K&S Trees to replant two of the trees because they obviously weren't planted properly. K&S told me they would give me a 2 year warranty on the trees they replanted, which prompted me to ask Grow Earth if they provided a warranty on any of the trees they planted, to which I was told No, they did not warranty the trees. I now recognize that this was a huge mistake on my part. I should have asked this question BEFORE hiring them and spending $2,600 on these trees. This was an assumption on my part, as every other company I spoke with did warranty their trees...so if you are thinking of having Grow Earth plant trees for you - think again! Now I move on to the sod. Manu had told me that he had his own sod farm, therefore I expected a quality produce since it wasn't coming from a third party. As you know, we had a very dry and very hot summer, however, once it was laid in mid May, I religiously watered the area with sod every day. Some of the sod took, however as the summer progressed, it was very apparent that the area that was sod was full of crab grass and weeds. I have a very reliable lawn service that I have used for 15 years, and the rest of my lawn was weed and crab grass free, however the area where sod was laid was horrible. When I contacted Manu about this he came out to look at the area and agreed that it was full of weeds and crab grass and contacted the company that applies the chemicals to my lawn. They explained that the entire lawn had received the same treatments, however apparently they are restricted from applying certain chemicals to the lawn (I believe crab grass killer) in August and would have to wait until fall. Manu went ahead and applied some chemicals to the area and did state that if that didn't help, he would replace the sod - but at this point - I've sort of lost faith. He said the reason there were so many weeds and crabgrass in the area was because it was placed in an area where a tree had previously been. I have spoken to two other landscape professionals and they have told me they never heard of such a thing - not to mention I was charged for 1 1/2 yards of topsoil that was supposed to cover the soil in that area before the sod was placed. I know this is a very long story, but unfortunately, it doesn't stop here. In the "wet area", they were unable to dig the holes to place the pea pebbles for drainage, so they went ahead and "graded" the area to prepare for planting. After looking at it, there was no way I was going to be able to plant that area, and it was very uneven. After pointing that out, they did come back and re-tilled the area and it was in much better condition after they did it right. Because of all the problems I was having, Manu told me that he would fill in a small area in front of the graded area with sod at a later date. It wasn't huge, maybe a 12' x 10' area, but as he said, he always has extra sod when doing a job and he would just stop by and take care of that for me one day soon. I reminded him of this promise later in the summer and he asked me to send him a text to remind him, which I did. When more time went by, I asked him again...and again...and again. Last weekend I realized it wasn't going to happen and I put down some compost and soil and seeded the area. Speaking of seeding - part of the scope of work was to overseed the yard, especially in the bare area. When I overseed, I rake the area and then apply peet, starting fertilizer and of course, seed. The overseeding that was done by Grow Earth was in some areas, some peet was put down and seed sprinkled on top. In other areas, just seed was sprinkled. They did come back and tried to correct the application, but very little grew. Several weeks later, I ended up going over the areas and reseeded myself and had better luck. Overall, I believe Manu really does care about the job he does, I just think he doesn't have the skills and management tools in place to convey to his workers exactly what should be done and then have quality control procedures in place to make sure the job is done correctly in the first place. Manu will also tell you that his degrees and training are in IT, and not landscaping. Unfortunately, his lack of education in agriculture is very apparent. I learned the hard way. If you have a small landscaping job to be done, Grow Earth may be the company for you, however I strongly encourage you to write down the DETAILS of the job you agreed to. A general scope of work is definitely not enough with this company as the details are not communicated well to those doing the work. If you have a large landscaping job, I would urge to to look elsewhere as I think it is more than what they are able to handle, in spite of Manu wanting to do a great job for you.
Description of Work: Clean up, mulch, grade and install edging to a large berm in my yard as well as plant 9 Spruce trees. Plant 1 Pear tree Sod a large area in my front yard where a tree had been removed Overseed the rest of my yard There was a large area on one side of my yard that was consistantly wet and they were supposed to dig holes and fill with pea pebble to assist in draining the soil in that area, as well as clean up and grade the area so ground cover could be planted.

Manu is a good guy to work with - he was very responsive to my original request for a quote, but I had to follow-up with him to actually get the quote and to get it scheduled, I had a deadline I was trying to hit. The quality was pretty good, it looked nice once it was completed, especially the area under a pine tree that had rasied roots to deal with. About a week after it was completed I realized that mulch was laid on top of grass/weeds instead of cleaning up the edge before laying it down. I didn't set the expectation that I wanted the weeds removed along the edge being created before laying down mulch, I made an assumption it would be part of the process. I would go back to Manu, but I will be more specific about what an "A" job is in my mind.

They did a fantastic job. They were there on time and finished the job in about 30 minutes. The owner came too and was very helpful and recommended some products to purchase to make sure the sod was watered properly. The sod they used was also very high quality. I was worried because it was so hot this summer but we did exactly what they said and our lawn looks great! We will definitely use them for future projects. They always responded to my questions in a timely manner and they were able to fit me in on very short notice during their busiest time of the year. They also gave a very fair and competitive price which was important to me. I would absolutely recommend Grow Earth!
