If you're not interested in a job I'd rather you tell me than completely blow me off. I find it unprofessional and disrespectful. My money is good anywhere and I have a lot to spend.

Response from San Marino Outdoor Services
Hi [Removed Member Name], I'm sorry but we have no record of service for your name or address. Please check to see if you have the right company for this review. We service very little residential lawn accounts and have none in Rochester. Best, Mike (President, San Marino Outdoor Services)

San Marino Services did a terrific job on our front paver walk and I recently contacted them again for a quote for lanscaping/yard clean up. Anthony is extremely responsive, professional and great to work with. Their team was also very professional and did a great job.

We have used San Marino Outdoor Services in the past. We have been very pleased with all of the work they have done in our yard. The crew worked from about 8:30 am until 9:00 pm to get everything done. They do a great job and clean up when done. No complaints. We would use them again.
Description of Work: Construction of 2 new large planting beds, put down flagstone, adjusted sprinkler heads.

San Marino Outdoor Services were punctual. They were nice to work with. He contacted me right away after I contacted him. He came out and took pictures and gave us a sketch of things that he proposed to do for one side of the house. They were probably here on the hottest day of the year working. They got everything done in a day. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. He took pictures of the rest of our yard and we will probably have him back in the spring to do more work.
Description of Work: San Marino Outdoor Services does landscaping for me. They redid what someone else had done which needed a lot of repair work. They had to repair a brick walkway and did additional landscaping.

Overall my interaction with this company was not good. I can tell the owner may be a nice guy overall but he could have handled this by just going back to the and quot;basicsand quot; of communication and being honest with me. Just call and keep people in the loop.
Description of Work: Updated Review Additional Services Performed on Wednesday, June 27th - I will start this update with the statement that this total experience could have been rated as an "A" if the communication did not go "south" midway into the project. That said, here's the update after I posted my original review: One of the owners of the San Marino Landscaping services called me around June 23rd to discuss the original service order and the fact that I was very dissatisfied with the lack of communication (impacting the service level). He explained that while he did not totally agree with my views of the situation, he should have communicated that they were extremely busy and contacted me. The owner was concerned that I felt like I had been treated unfairly and "wronged" and offered to bring out his crews the following week to still install the brick pavers in my front lawn "at no cost to me" (my husband had already went back over the front and back yards to pull weeds, put down weeding paper and spread mulch around every area of both the back and front yards - this was a part of the original service request). I told him that his offer was nice and while I would take it, I was not out for anything free but just the service promised. As I previously acknowledged in my original review, the owner continued to be professional with his interactions with me and apologized for the lack of communication. The day of the service the owner arrived with the crew and supervised the work as they started the project and then he left his chief foreman in charge. The crew worked on an extremely hot day (I wish they would have just waited until the next day, as I wanted the work done but not at the expense of overheating - but they work in such weather all the time so I will leave the judgment up to them)...I looked over the project upon my return to my home and now one week out it appears to still look very nice, properly installed and professionally completed. The owner also called to follow up to see if I was satisfied. I told him that as of one week out from the service all looked to be fine with the quality and that visually it looked great (he advised me to water it a lot for a couple of weeks). My neighbor just stopped by to ask about the work performed and thought it looked nice (as he was out of town when they completed it). My husband and I was able to truthfully say to my neighbor that I not only liked the work but I was able to add that the owner seem to be "in tune" to my concerns when I was unhappy with the original work order. I want to clear the air and say that most of the time I am not "moved" to write a review when I am less than satisfied (we have all experienced service we are very unhappy with at times in our lives). Typically I just get a little upset and leave it alone. I am fully aware that most service providers work hard, long, thankless hours to earn their livings as entrepreneurs and deal with "difficult" clients. I do not view myself in that light. Originally I hesitated and was not going to write the review, but decided to move forward because this helps with the integrity of such services as Angie's List. So to sum it all up, I would say my overall updated experience was a B+ (given the original bumps). Again if the communication was there from the beginning my rating could have been a solid "A".I do plan to provide an updated review at least one month out regarding the quality and how it is holding up. Thank you San Marino for contacting me and trying to "reopen the lines of communication". I am not malicious and understand this is your livelihood. That said, I respect that you have your reputation to protect and that perhaps this was just an isolated event. Mr. Garmo is very professional and if he was upset then he did a great job "masking" his concerns when he spoke with me. I know you have larger projects and it seems that once the work is completed it is very good work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am very disappointed with the service level of this company. The original interaction with the owner was great. In the beginning he had very good follow up and seem to offer suggestions on what I should consider with what I wanted to do with the front of my lawn. I wanted the weeding, old mulch taken out and linig and new mulch put in all the beds in the front and back yards. I also wanted to pavers placed in my front yard. The owner mentioned that it was one of the busier seasons for them in years (which is big business for them) but that he had multiple crews . In short he said this was a "smaller" job for them and there were other bigger projects ongoing but that because it was small he should have no problem slotting my project in (because his crew could take care of it all in one day). He said he would schedule my project on the same day as other similar home projects for other customers. I received the quote with the basic services break down. We agreed upon the service date. But as the date neared, I noticed that I did not receive a call from him (usually service providers call 1 - 2 days ahead to check in to ensure the project is still going to take place and to give you a status update of any changes). It rained most of the day they were suppose to perform the service so I figured they would be unable to perform any yard work but I did not receive a courtesy call ...Nothing. So I decided to call him, and he explained that he had been busy with his ill friend and that he planned to send a crew out the next day. A crew of 3 people arrived late Saturday evening they pulled weeds and cut my hedges. The foreman said the owner would have another crew come out to take out the old mulch and old liner as well as replace it with new liner and mulch. The pavers were also going to be put down by the other crew. Well, that was almost 4 weeks ago. And I have not heard a word from him...The weeds they pulled have returned because nothing was placed down to "block" them...And we are back to square one. I am very disappointed because however I rationalize this, it is just plain old "unprofessional"...I understand our project was not a big business or extensive profitable homeowner project but he made a commitment. And at the end of the day if things change, then just pick up the phone and let me know....Instead you chose to not communicate and treat our business as if it was unimportant and not worth your time. I would have rather the owner have turned my business down in the beginning. Now about the quality of work: When the crew finished pulling the weeds and cutting the hedges, it looked nice but because the weeds have just about grown back (several rain storms over the past few weeks), I give the quality of work a "D". It is as if we must start all over again...The owner seemed pleasant and professional in the beginning but did a total "360" on me without warning. Here's the funny thing about it, from the beginning I felt like I should've had my husband coordinate it and interact with them because I got a sense that the outcome would have been different. In general one should be careful in how they treat people because you never know who a person is connected with...I am a executive at a automotive company and we are looking for a good company to perform our landscaping...That translates to big bucks given our needs...

The experience was great and we love our yard now. We called them up and they setup an appointment to meet us after work at the house. I went through the entire yard with them. I explained to them I wanted very low maintenance and simple. The yard when I bought the house was an absolute wreck with weeds 3 ft tall. It was very uneven and terrible. they got all of our ideas and told us they would call with a price. They called and actually setup another meeting to explain what they wanted to do. They brought a drawing out of the new landscaping. We gave them the ok to start that night. They gave us a starting date of the project and showed up that morning ready to work. They removed all of our existing landscaping, brought in fresh topsoil for the beds and the yard where needed. They used the pile of boulders in the yard as edging for the landscaping. They brought in new low maintenance bushes along with installing mulch to all the bed areas and trees. After they leveled the yard the went through and seeded the yard to get the yard looking great. The whole process was great and we love our new yard. We were thinking of some other ideas in the yard and will be calling them back to do the work.

From my initial meeting with Michael (the co-owner) from concept to completion, the entire process for my new patio went very smooth. The care and attention to detail that San Marino Outdoor Services provides is top notch, the best I've experienced. The entire crew was punctual, dressed in uniform and worked continuously each day until the project was complete. I was particularly impressed by how neat and orderly the job-site was left at the end of each work day. I would highly recommend San Marino Outdoor Services for ANY or ALL of your landscaping needs and am looking forward to having them back to install the second phase of my project.
Description of Work: Installed a beautiful paver patio complete with path & steps into our home, as well as some landscaping adjacent to the patio.

Last Spring we contracted San Marino to tear down an old concrete retaining wall and rebuild it out of natural stone slabs. We knew they were the perfect fit for our job having seen several of their completed projects that met our description. Their extensive knowledge of the proper engineering procedures that go into constructing a wall that stands the test of time was impressive to say the least. I received a fair estimate, professional service and a job well done so they absolutely have my recommendation. Thanks Guys!
